The way he talks about his mom supporting and being so excited for him, then realizing she’s not around anymore legit makes me cry. I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad you have great memories to hold on to
Ikr, makes me cry too 😭
Thank you for sharing this. It lets me relive a couple of awesome years. You did amazing grabbing the stories from both Dan and Justin.
Man, this series was... something...
it was, my buddy wowthatsgarbage was in it. We had been playing for years together and he was trying to get me in with him. We did get to hang out though when they came to charlotte for championship weekend for the first season. We had a deal where if one of us was in the other's state, we would hang out. All the racers were really cool too, had raced with a lot of the xbox guys for years so it was cool to put faces to gamertags.
Thank you DJ, the growth and prominence, perhaps the survival of this historically new form of racing, "simracing" depends on the journalism of the sport, as can be seen in real life auto sports, if we can see and hear the competitors stories and let them bear their souls as the person behind the wheel, then we all win, and present the next would-be racer, or race fan, to the beauty of racing, in all it encompasses... the thrills of victory and the agony of defeat, a human endeavor that predates the ancient Greeks and continues to evolve unto the present times and into the future!
You have a real skill in interviews and documentation
This was great. After the console fiasco, Dan joined my league in iRacing. Such a good dude and great competitor
I've only raced Dan once, but he seemed like a cool dude, if you keep in mind he is still a kid, he's going to make mistakes. Justin on the other hand.... unbelievable driver, but he's two for two either crashing me or putting me in uncomfortable situations, I'll leave it at that 😂
Awesome production as always, Yee!
Interesting given the premise, lol
Loved the memorial at the end. Lost my mom in 2017 and encourage everyone to enjoy the time you have with them ❤
Crazy to see Justin Brooks in this video. I go way back with him in the NR2003 community, so to see him still carrying his skill to different games is awesome. He's been bad fast as long as I've known him.
the GOAT as far as I'm concerned.
got love a format that rewards a championship to a driver who won 4 races vs a driver who won 7, based off one race
Nascar's own IRL formats are arguably way worse lmao, its wild.
@@Ryzard I'm aware... and thats why the NASCAR broadcast are so bad nowadays, there is no narrative or story line... its the same every week, win and your in & lets talk about mediocrity, who's 16th in points and has no business fighting for a title
Sounds like NASCAR
That makes it the most realistic NASCAR series lololol
Dude this was an amazing video. I don't know if this is a one shot or you'll do more but this is definitely one of my favorites on your channel
That's really cool and very classy with what you did at the end of the video. Much respect from me👍
Would love if we got more parts, with some more Heat Pro League Drivers,, learn about their respective experiences with their teams at the time and how it all went down hill, been wanting to do something like this for a while personally 🙏
This was absolutely enjoyable to watch 👏
The downfall of nascar heat could be an hour long video on its own haha
@@DJYeeJay That would be intriguing 🤔
@DJYeeJay I'm always down to share my experiences! Especially now the MSG is out of NASCAR, I can speak a bit more on my pro league experiences, experience with JRM directly and the disaster of Ignition. Obviously, the eNHPL was very niche but if there's people who want to listen, I'm willing to speak!
Second this
It was awesome to reminisce on their rivalry! Sucks I only got too witness it 1st hand for the last few races of season 2. I can still remember my reaction to what happened at Bristol like it was yesterday.
Great story and love your format.
I used to work at a track once a month. What always impressed me was, even the real car racers, the people that had to pay to race and maintain their cars, had the same attitude "it's just racing". If a racer didn't have a spare of a broken part, word would get around by itself and someone would come up with one.
Love this channel, Dj Yee J’s voice is just perfect for this
i used to sim races against Justin a little in those 2008-09 NR03 days, crazy how small the sim racing community can be sometimes
Dan is a very class act guy I raced with him For a while and he was fast, especially on F1.
Just raced with him last week in iRacing, and he seemed to be quite quick.
Brooks also has his own car design company that looks really sick!😊
Used to commentate a F1 League with Dan back in 2018. Was crazy to see his rise in the Pro League haha good times
I don't watch Nascar, I don't watch eRacing events - but your videos have been so compelling and interesting. From the people involved to the events themselves your videos are so well put together. I'm enraptured and honestly learning a lot about the sport/esport. Keep up the fantastic work
Man, I literally started up Heat 5 a couple of days ago and said ‘huh, that sure happened’
Ay got some camera time 😂. Great video nonetheless, loved competing with these two & battling with them back in 20’.
Racing with Daniel in some leagues on iracing now as a part time teammate, it’s interesting seeing his story from this perspective.
you deserve way more subs. awesome video as usual i love these sim racing documentaries
I remember around 8 years ago racing and having fun with MrTrackBar on the console. We had a blast. Great to see Justin racing on Iracing. He is good enough I believe to make it the Coke Series. Great content, just found your channel through NWP. Eric, DannyB and The Iceberg.👍
Great work as always, Justin. Dan is a regular over in FTF running for the Project 42 team. He's as fast as ever and just won the most recent race at Kansas.
I race in a league with Justin brooks now and he kicks ass
One of the leagues of all time
I swear people just make lore videos on anything these days..... I'm kinda here for it.
It was amazing to be apart of the first season, it was awesome to be a fan for the second season. That all around experience was just amazing. Im sure with iracing’s game in 2025 that they will have their own version of this for console.
30:28 dirty dan 😂😂😂
It’s Bristol, baby.
At Night.
Embrace the Bump n’ Run!
I have done a LOT of local nascar sim racing and I also did some GranTursimo sport racing since 2018
What a great mom, sad to hear of her loss. She was only 50 😔
It sucks to hear Dan talking about him getting less iRacing time because of work. I feel like Racing eSports needs to have higher pools. It's the only form of eSports based off an actual sport that is as close to playing that sport as you can get.
Very nice touch at the end of the video
Thank you for sharing this
Great video I played heat 4 and 5 regularly but didn’t know about the controversies here
I remember how much of a mess this series looked like back then. Heat just did not have the right multiplayer component for an esports league imo. The physics for multiplayer racing were just a mess compared to iRacing or even the Eutechnyx games. If y’all know what I’m talking about.
What a great video. Thank you for sharing.
Cough cough time was wild. And so fun for online gamers!!!
Rip mom, 50 years is too young.
Honestly i feel 2009 was the best one. The pack racing was awesome, needed setups to be competitive, you could actually trigger wrecks by touching in the wrong spot. I honestly think it was one of the best console nascar games.
Will never forget where I was when the 30,000 dollar door happened. Screaming my lungs out for Dan. Thought the speeding penalty at Michigan was all she wrote but god was on his side. Kid deserved and deserves all the success he’s had. Couldn’t ask for a better friend!
These guys on GT7 would be excellent.
Being I've known Brooks since 2010 and talked to his mom, that ending had me tearing up a good bit. She was an awesome lady. Justin, she's still there bro and still cheering you on in everything you do, you hear it deep in your heart and soul.
I remember trying out for that series, I ended up top 80 most of the time but there were a lot of really quick guys.
In the words of a great man:
"Rubbing is racing."
The only thing keeping it from having the real drama of an actual NASCAR race was the two dudes swinging on one-another for the deliberate hit.
I've been doing top leagues on f1 for years and I always regretted not doing this, could've done really well as these guys weren't on the same level as others, like I racing drivers
Last one was in 2020... "OMG it was the last one ever!". Kind of ridiculous, don't you think?
Toolchest for a dresser is peak investment tech.
Incredible video DJ
10:45 Hey that's me! Lol
Nice hahaha ya I was just looking for high quality heat 3 footage
@@DJYeeJay Well thanks for the "high quality" comment!
Favorite new channel, true high quality content
I really don't care at all about esport... Like... I don't watch it, I would rather play some friendly stuff myself etc.
I still watch the documentary-style stuff you make though. It's just worth it! :D
hey its justin
I remember when this was around, I raced with and beat some of these guys in the qualifying lobbies. There's about three or four really skilled players that were in that league, and the rest were essentially just content creators to advertise the game. The reality is that most of these players are just plain average, except theyre unemployed and spend 60 hours a week grinding the game.
Trackbarrr filled his car full of fuel on the last stop and I think that’s why Dan was able to get to him even more so than the rear “damage” theory. Keeping the car lighter on fuel made a big difference in Heat. Anyways, fun watch.
Props to Donna for loving what her kid loved ! Great content . Thx YJ 🤘🏻🏁
I love these vids, so fun to watch
The pro league lives!!!! Shout out LinedCone!
Gonna have to disagree w Dan and think he was definitely the one driving too aggressive at the end
Don’t forget NR night in America for Dan
Motorsports Games saves the day! And ruins 2 whole franchises in the process.
On the verge of ruining WEC also. They had a indycar game going which didn’t even get off the ground.
I was here for the OG thumbnail
@@JeremyLeech there were 2 that were being A/B tested and they both performed almost identically lol
@@DJYeeJay hey we’ve all done it 😂 great video btw! Love this type of content you’re putting out.
only the real ones remember when Ray Afala, Michael Conti, Adam Gililand and Nick Ottinger were going head to head
The davinci resolve 18 goes crazy
Glitch text transition will always be cool lol
Imagine casually driving in a league you think nothing of and suddenly being called by some professional real life racing team.
That was awesome. I get to drive in teat sessions almost every week with dan since hes a part of the team that epi partnered with for setups and ot just amazes me how hes able to drive so fast and maintain his speed long run im learning from him and the other faat guys a lot. Hes such a good kid and doesnt mind helping when he can
great video as always
@@breadperez Thanks Brad!! I appreciate it
The Heat games were not that great compared to Inside Line and Nascar 08. Very excited for Iracing to release the new Nascar game next year!
Yeah I'm not buying it if it's $70. This is the reason why game studios that are selling $70-$100 games are shitting the bed and $30-$450 indie titles are thriving. And September gets them the Black Friday/ Christmas sells while the game is still relevant. The logic that raising the price will make the game look better is the same dumb logic that has caused big games such as COD to lose their player base. It's better to sell a cheaper game and sell dlc for the game otherwise all future dlc would need to be free for it to be worth an obsurd price tag
Bud what are you on about rn?
Great video bruh
Cool video!
Great video Justin
Just subbed
amazing video man
Dude are you trying to become the Thorin (e-Sports Historian) of Racing e-Sports
Pretty cool video man.
idk its really hard to take a side here. Two guys driving hard, some bumping which is totally acceptable and ok he got past. The video makes it look like hes swerving up to push him out toward the wall and yeah that is not cool. But if the replays are not accurate maybe not. Either way, there was no crash only some hard driving and thats just the way it goes. Gotta be a killer to be a winner.
It's a Sim, not a Game
Top tier Brian Berry comment
EA is poison. Competition is good in the gaming industry. Yea, charlotte coka cola 600 is usually unbearably hot. esports isn't as easy to jump into now for people who aren't full time online. It's tough to maintain the practice needed if you have a day job. What is that bracket stuff? They made a playoff thing like that silly chase?
What's the 80 +5 laps?
Is that 85 laps or did they run 80 laps if no cautions on the last laps to finish under green and if a caution came out on last laps have 5 lap overtime?
This is not the series I thought it was.
hell of a video
W video by the goat iRacing content creator
Oh god nascar heat 4
Why make me tear up at the end?
They need to make a movie out of this
The heat pro league was the most embarrassing thing ive ever seen
If Evolution-3 really was built on Dirt to Daytona they would have been better games imo
Ol Buttafuoco couldn't beat him running clean and the cries at the end like he accomplished a huge feat. 😂
Waitaminuate, how can you speed on pit road in a Heat game, or am I missing something?
Also on a different note, neither of their cars even exist in NASCAR anymore
probably on pit entry
I wish nascar heat 4 could do online simracing nascar move to iracing it really disappointing
I am going to be honest with you, in my own humble opinion without being sentimental of course, without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter from a distinctive perspective, I would like to say I have nothing to say. 😎
I actually just lost my mother and I got into a small rl tournament to go state and she was my biggest supporter, 8 years ago. She recently passed away in a bad car accident. A year on the 22nd…
Sorry to hear about that 😔
She wants you smiling friend
Im confused, you say that EA had the exclusive rights to Nascar, but Dirt to Daytona Came out in 2002?
I really got here early didn’t i
Ugh... these guys are making me feel old...
