I can't remember where I read it but a quote I saw years ago still sticks with me: "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change". I think it's a misquote from Darwin but I'd say it's pretty accurate for us a species. Personally I think it applies here too.

Thank you for the video. That was motivating. I am totally new in this field but in the past one year tried my best to put my subject knowledge in an educational blogger site. Even though I get 50- 80 views and 2-3 impressions I was serious about continuing as I was enjoying my work. But after all these happenings, I was demotivated and didn't work on it last week. But I think I should continue, cause the feeling of happiness always supports success. We should always go with our heart. Thankyou sir.

Thanks for addressing what matters...the reality. Thanks for the encouragement. Google was tired on how the internet was saturated with old informations ( blog post ). So he wipes it off and said i think it's time to create a renewed searched engine. Blogging is not over, we just need new information, new scopes, new perspectives, new data, new searched results for a new search era. Go back, start that blog niche all over again but now with new perspectives. Blogging is not dead, it only needs new perspectives content for a new search engine. Thanks....

Ricky, you hit the nail on the head and while we sometimes drown in the purely technical, it is necessary to get into your helicopter to look at the work you do from that perspective. Say, oversee the bigger picture. It is purifying and meaningful.

I'm focusing the 9-5 until I (or you!) figure out how to build a great business in the new, post-AI paradigm. Personally, I don't think blogs based around affiliate marketing will be part of that... because people are going to get their answers from their AI, rather than go to google and then trawl through the results. It's the most abrupt end to the most scammy industry.
Great video Ricky. And if anyone can figure out how to create value in the new landscape, it's you. Thanks.

spot on. new search engines will emerge that are "seriously" dynamic, maybe free, maybe AI-SW-pack (search+++), I think we are on a "tipping-edge", the Cat and the Bag, are in different directions, and the Cats had Kittens, and they don't like Lazers.

Just by watching the free content of this channel, I managed to create a blog a few years ago that earned up to 4k per month. Nowadays it's gone down to $100 per month (slowly but steadily died during the last 2 years). I can't thank Jim and Ricky enough... I literally owe them tens of thousands of dollars, so I really feel for what Ricky must be going through right now with the current shift in SEO.

I'm worrying about getting my produce to market this spring. I'm worried I won't make enough monry farming and ned to take on more side jovs. I'm worried about working away from home so much that I miss my daughters' childhoods.
What am I doing about it? I made a video course that made me a little money. I started teaching classes at my farm on weekends. That helped. I am selling more of my soil amendment products locally. If I can get my SEO and traffic up again, I can sell my courses and products much more efficiently. I don't want to continue living as I was before. I will continue to make this dream a reality. I lost most add revenue and affiliate earnings, but I'm already replacing a good part of it with in-person classes.
I'm a martisl artist in several disciplines. Years before I earned my first black belt, an old timer told me something that I'll always remember. He said " the only difference between a black belt and a white belt is that a person with a black belt didn't quit.
I often say something similar: "Failure is not a lack of success but a lack of perseverance".

He also had a chemical engineering degree. Literally the day after graduation the company he worked for laid him off despite the fact that they had sponsored the MBA. Control is an illusion. Ricky built a business so he could actually have more control over his life. Things happen. The game changes. What are we going to do? That's the point.

@@j_yh I've decided to shift from SEO to monetize my website to selling ad space in my digital magazine. Let's say I manage to get businesses to buy ad space and they're signed to yearly contracts. There's always a chance that a few of those businesses decide not to renew their contract to advertise in my magazine. That leaves me in a situation of having to acquire new clients. In the SEO game, if an algorithm update destroys my traffic, I see that as a far harder obstacle to work through based off of what I've seen happen to other people. It's not something that can be done quickly, especially since SEO is a long game. At least with selling ad space, you can negotiate smaller ad prices to businesses to recoup the loss of a client. Is it more controllable than SEO? No, but it's easier to work through setbacks than playing Google's algorithm games which is set up for you to lose.

So by your logic you shouldn’t do anything unless you’re the absolute best at it… I guess we should all go home and just give up on life.
Saying you need to focus on user experience and value doesn’t mean that what you’ve done has no value. That’s very poor logic.
That’s like saying that since lasagna isn’t one of my top 10 favorite foods I HATE it.
Engineers can be motivating too. They can be a lot of things. My chemistry classes certainly didn’t teach me SEO…
And based on many comments here, this video was sorely needed by many.

Pretty generic video. There’s no substance here. Rah, rah…keep up the good fight. Adapt. Change. Yada, yada, yada.

@krod16 not sure when or why you started trolling me. That’s disappointing.
Just because a video wasn’t what you wanted or needed doesn’t mean it’s fluff. Lots of people found this video very helpful. Therefore, calling it fluff is not a fact. It’s, by definition, an opinion. 🙄

Nope. You’re just piling on when other people say negative things. The OP called it fluff, stating an opinion. You implied his statement was a fact.
Add that to the other comments you’re choosing to pile onto and that amounts to trolling. I’d hoped for better from you.
