The evolution of every sport went through the same thing. If you regret the past, you’re pissing all over your NOW! Be happy for those whom came along after you. Your life will benefit from you giving grace.
I came on here to state domething similar. I served in the USMC in the '80s. It was tough being a female in such a male oriented miliyary branch. But, do I crap on the women who serve in the Corps today? Absolutely not. These thin skinned women of the WNBA need to shut up and be professional athletes and stopped being bitter about the winds of change. If Clark was popular, not because of her immense talent, but her looks or some other transient feature, I ciuld see why some of these ladies could be a little put out, sorta. But dang, that girl has massive abilities. I've never understood being jealous of another's talent, just because you may have missed the time machine boat, so to speak. It's not a good look and only strengthens opinions that women are petty and jealous, 'cause, well, it sure comes off as if they ARE.
What these players don’t understand is that what the WNBA did or did not do for them isn’t really the issue. Until CC, I still wouldn’t have paid attention to the league or these players. CC snagged my attention while she played in college (that happens to be where I went too). I followed her to the WNBA. If she would not have gone to WNBA, neither would I. Whether they like it or not, that’s FACT. Since watching this season, I became a fan of several other players (none of which is spouting this WOKE garbage and all of which seem to have similar values as CC and many Iowans). None of these women who decided to bully CC have the same mindsets. We don’t play that way. That does not make us racist. That makes us humans with standards we hold ourselves, and our “stars” to. These are people we want our children to look up to and emulate. We don’t want our kids to emulate the kind of behavior that goes against what we’ve taught about fairness and sportsmanship and simple kindness. If I had known this was what the league was like, I would have questioned CC’s desire to be a part of it. However, I continued to watch CC overcome this ridiculous behavior and can use her as an example of how I’d like my children to emulate. All while showing them the behavior that is definitely NOT okay for them to emulate.
At 09:51, there is no fault or blame. When a person chooses a vocation, they do so with faith and works. Candance Parker knew after college, fame was not assured. She collected a paycheck and signed contracts. It is not a fault that her dream did not come true. It is not a fault that reality proved to be different. If she subscribes to the idea that she did not receive just rewards for work then she is unwise. For her to be true means that she used basketball and the people there as a means to an end. She dedicated her life to chasing the wind. Caitlin Clark went a different path. She started playing basketball because she was bored. She ended up playing in a mixed boys and girls league because playing with all girls was not challenging for her. She becomes highly skilled at basketball as an outlet to focus her creative energy. She is a savant. She used basketball as a way to practice faith and work. Because she was in a Catholic School, the junior high and high school players were on the same team. She came into her freshmen year already gifted at basketball. The team blew out the first team they played who were three-time Champs. CC had nothing to do with any of that. It is not a fault of character that more people love CC. Thank you
The players in the past it's in the past. You can't keep going on about them at every game.new players don't play like the past players. They don't bang on about players in the past in other sports. The best players do get a mention on special occasions but not at every game in the future.
It is also the Network's disregard of women's basketball, it is simply the past players and teams just never captured the attention and imagination of fans. CC22 did so. Just celebrate her and interaction and comparisons will introduce the past players achievements to the old and new fans. Like me from Australia knew only about Lauren Jackson and a little bit about Sue Bird as Lauren's teammate. Now, because of Caitlin Clark I know about the past greats!
CP, "Your game wasn't that good!". And, like the rest of the wnba league, you couldn't see the forest for the trees. CC came with a following greater than you ever had because your game wasn't good enough. Go CC.
All these dinosaurs need to flop away apparently yall weren’t good enough to draw fans wtf ! You got the option to give it another run , Clark will continue to draw ! Jealousy won’t gain nothing but heartbreak !
It annoys me the bitterness that current and old and current WNBA players are expressing. They have a view that playing in a league with the best skills is enough to attract fans. It also does not mean that you can build it. It is also not a slight that it is women's basketball/sports. You cannot attract fans just by playing the best competition with skillful players. It is the intangible that bring fans so don't get upset that they did not have a "Parker Effect" with ROY and MVP year. It just did not tug at the fans. You cannot think of being entitled either. IT DID NOT TUG AT THE FANS THE EFFECT (LIKE CC EFFECT) IS SO INTANGIBLE IT IS INEXPLICABLE. So, stopped the chatter of entitlement of being there over the past years. It is black and white EITHER YOU MOVE THE NEEDLE OR NOT. The OTHER times that it happened: 1. Bird/Magic - the basketball players at the time were equally as skillful (Chamberlain, Russell, Dr. J etc.) but NBA was at the brink of bankruptcy 2. Michael Jordan - no need to explain 3. Kobe/Shaq 4. Lebron James These players are the generational players that had the intangible "EFFECT" . Caitlin Clark is one of them so just enjoy it with her and you will be known. Sadly, CC22 haters are the one's to benefit and are now known. Sadly, Aja Wilson is known as a CC22 antagonist instead of being the best player. If Aja had welcome Caitlin, Aja would be more famous for the right reasons.
"...what lacking during my career...." You have only yourself and the other old players to blame..... You dont make a dime profit you arent going to get the benefits. They could have done more, but they took a path that made them unpopular and thus no growth or profit.
Shedeur Sanders-is being like Angel Reese-on the football field now -Candace Parker is a lesbian what do you think she’s gonna say- she knew Caitlin was coming-that’s why she got out the league-so did Sue Bird 🦅
All this old timers just weren’t that interesting. I was aware of Parker but simply not that interested. A good high school boys team has more to offer! Clark elevates women’s basketball to another level! It’s that simple. I’ve never cared about their skin color; character and talent were dominant qualities I looked for and Clark has them.
Also, she seems to be just a good person, without meanness and arrogance, and with a good heart. Smiles and laughs WITH her teammates, and wants THEM to do well, too.
how about past stars comparing their stats against caitlin? Were they as good? don't thin so. pretend basketball doesn't draw fans. WNBA games are horrible to watch without caitlin's play.
I feel sorry for Parker. As good as she was, the WNBA was unable to meet the interest threshold of the paying public. Clark has raised the level of the WNBA product above the public interest threshold. I believe there were quite a few talented women during Parker’s time who choose tennis and golf instead of basketball. Nobody forced Parker to play basketball during the lean years. She loved the game. I feel sorry for her since that isn’t satisfying to her now. Can you imagine tennis greats like Martina and Chrissy making these kind of comments about today’s tennis game? I can’t.
It gets hard to feel for former players. Tell me who painted the Brooklin Bridge the first time? I was a historic project and it get repeated every few years. Does anyone know the names of workers who literally risk their life to paint and repaint? Remembering the history of players in any sport has an important time and place. But it doesnt belong overshadowing the current stars. There should be no guilt for perfoming or outperforming previous players. How selfish would that be. Your fame is a product of your time and has no business casting a shadow on the new players and records of the present.
We’ll miss Parker can always have being one of the hottest wnba stars ever! Extreme Beauty and being a very great basketball player are not a commonly put together sentence! Come on! I know the brains are there also. Let it go, give the girl her props and move on! Don’t loose your reputation like ignorant swoops!
Parker ain't shit who cares what ground work she did I don't have to respect her or acknowledge her . I didn't even know who she was until Catlin. Nobody knows because nobody was watching that shit
She should be so excited and grateful that people are paying attention to her sport.
Blah blah blah blah blah nobody cared about the WNBA until CC join the WNBA
The evolution of every sport went through the same thing. If you regret the past, you’re pissing all over your NOW! Be happy for those whom came along after you. Your life will benefit from you giving grace.
Candice didn't pave the way!!!!! Caitlin grew up playing against guys that's why she so good!!!
I twice fought in an unpopular war- Vietnam. We were frustrated after arriving home. Do not feel bad about basketball players

Ok Parker You Did Good,,Now You Can Go Relax, We ONLY STARTED WATCHING BECAUSE OF CAITLIN CLARK, & THE FEVER TEAM ❤
There's only 2 reasons why I watch the wnba. .. Lindsey Whalen and Caitlin Clark!!!!😮😮
How ridiculous
