I think that the best way to proceed, an maintain the athletic spirit of these athletes is a scoring system that rewards them of their efforts. For instance, they should get a point for hitting the backboard. Maybe a couple points for hitting the rim. I would recommend 3 points for a goal and 10 points for a free throw. Something like this would let these players maintain some sense of dignity and keep the games interesting.
