THANK YOU DAN AND DENISE ROJAS---THIS IS ONE OF THE ONLY VIDEOS THAT YOU CAN SEE AND HEAR EVERYTHING CLEARLY, AND NOT SCRATCH YOUR HEAD, AS TO WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. THE AUDIO IS CLEAN, THE VIDEO IS CLEAR, AND DAN AND DENISE ACTUALLY SPEAK UNDERSTANDABLE ENGLISH, WITHOUT BUZZING, LOUD OFFENSIVE MUSIC, AND A CAMERA THAT FLOPS AROUND LIKE A NERVOUS FISH. CONGRATULATIONS DAN AND DENISE ROJAS FOR AN EXCELLENT VIDEO.
WHAT A PLEASURE! AND DENISE---MAY I ADD THAT YOU ARE INDEED VERY GORGEOUS.

You should rename your video. You are not making solar cells, you are purchasing solar cells to attach them in series, and create a solar panel. I was mislead by your video title, thinking it had information on how to create solar photovoltaic cells at home.

Thank you for posting an honest evaluation of DIY solar panels.
It allows one to prevent costly errors.
Suggestion is to let your wife 'ask' the questions, and you reply to them. Most of us want to ask those Qs, may be simple to some, but are probably never comfortable asking.
    Thank You, once more.

I strung over 1000 of these together in basically the same fashion for our college's entry into SunRayce '99. We had a form, like you mention, to line up the cells and space them about 1.5mm apart. For large numbers, we found it most efficient to tab the tops first, then string them in the form, soldering the tabs to the bottom. I think we used solder-bearing paste instead of flux pen and solder separately. Keep in mind, when you build your own panel, the worst cell limits the entire string.

To anyone who is looking for a great Soldering Iron: Weller WES51 Analog Soldering Station ($75 on amazon). Ive had it for over a year now, I love it and I would highly recommend it. This baby heats up super hot within 30 seconds to a minute. I think more importantly, one might want to consider purchasing a FLAT TIP for this type of procedure, it will make the workflow much faster. Thanks for the awesome vid.

Great video, looks like it can take a lot of time to build the panels. Regarding the solder pronunciation, I recommend one to walk into your local hardware or Lowe's store, find a worker over 20, ask for "soLLder" and then watch their reaction. I was only trying to clarify. Many vids on UA-cam, listen to them too.

I found by using flux on the outside of the wire as well as on the areas needed for the cell helps a great deal to decrease the time needed to solder the wire on. I am using a 25 watt soldering gun and I can do one in less than a minute now. I was struggling to even melt the solder before I started the double flux method.
