gorgeous flower. will deff. try and make them, though i think i ll be making mine using carnation cutters from ebay. seen another video called carnation demo by deptchair, where the chef uses carnation cutters to make these flowers- she also tells you what gauge wire to use. made in pretty much the same way but she uses the carnation cutters and frills with frill stick (cocktail sticks are cheaper and easier to get ahold of!)
I AM SO FASCINATED BY YOUR VIDEOS!! I HAVE WATCHED EACH OF THEM OVER AND OVER. I WIS THERE WERE MORE. NOT ONLY ARE YOU A GREAT DECORATOR, BUT A FANTASTIC TEACHER, WHICH IS A RARE COMBINATION. I WOULD LOVE TO PURCHASE YOUR DVDS OR VIDEOS, BUT I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY THAT PLAY ON USA MACHINES. DO YOU HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR ME? THANK YOU!
Instead of sugarpaste, is it possible to make these with fondant icing? Ive already tried fondant icing carnations but with a cook book (didnt quite work as icing would break and tear).
I wouldn't recommend using fondant for flowers because it doesn't dry like gum paste or sugar paste as she calls it. If using fondant you can add tylose powder to your fondant to give it a similar affect as gum paste(sugarpaste)..hope this helps!
continued from previous message.... piece of green 26 gauge wire, glue (can be made by adding fine gum trag or fine tylo/cmc powder (cheaper) to water how much depends on how strong you want glue- usually a pinch of powder to a small amount of water maybe 20ml. also tylo produces clear glue, gum trag doesnt. also, cornflour- to dust so paste doesnt stick to cutter, petal/gum paste coloured to required colour, paintbrush, silicone mat (baking mat of ebay- cheap) i think thats it! hope that helps!
Very nice job with the tutorial. @Seungho1001 the flower is made of gumpaste while it is edible, most people dont eat it. Gumpaste doesnt taste very good :)
hi, check out carnation demo by deptchair- type in sugarcraft carnation demo in the search box on youtube.com, and it ll come up... the chef from this video does carnations using carnation cutters (set of 3 from ebay for around £1- from hong kong or china - takes 10- 30 days delivery though) and i think it ll produce easier and faster carnations, in addition to carnation cutters you also need either a frill stick (expensive) or cocktail stick (cheaper, easier to get ahold of) continued...
