Have lost track of TRN lately with all the other brands that have come out in the past year or two, but the TRN Conch looks interesting from the initial information I've seen of it
(I got the blue MT4 Pro about 2 months ago - still has the HBB logo on it). My overall findings were the same as yours initially. After switching over to a pure copper balanced cable (they do need a bit more power) or even the TRN Red Chain though, some of the weaknesses in the mids were almost gone. Maybe I did do some EQ bumps for certain tracks. Its still that cleaner/brighter and more transparent Harmanish sound signature, but slightly more balanced 👍🏾 with the cable and well matched eartips and DAC &/or source. Overall build quality is good and I am looking forward to future TRN models, with DDs. Thanks for the review. Subscribed.
@@PaulWasabii 🙏🏽 Not sure if they were going for the same type of sound like the TRN Conch (have not tested) to a degree with this MT4 Pro. I liked the looks and (blue) colour of this model better. Have you tested the KZ ESX 10th anniversary model by chance? I think it's really good. I'll search on UA-cam here and your channel for this later when I'm free. The CCA Lyra is currently my default set for listening out of home - at cafes and such. Matches well with the portablr KZ DAC.
This is a nice looking package for the price. The lower end of ChiFi is really interesting, they just need to better tuning but I don't completely hate what I see here. Thanks Paul.

You're thin harman description is really accurate, I am still figuring out why I like it for rock and roll, media etc. I'm also at the sweet spot for my tip. Roll with kbear 07. I tried trn sound stage tips big fail.
Yeah, I typically realize I made a mistake right after I say it like MT4 is a 2DD also. My brain was saying oh that's wrong but keep going. Harman style is about balance, small changes. On MT4 Pro, tips will probably make a big difference as you tried. I almost always start with KB07, but KB08 might get you more bass on MT4P.
Regular Castor which I haven't heard and MT4 Pro might be quite close, I'd pick the cheaper one. Castor Black is the bass heavy one and that one is different.
@@PaulWasabii Yea I grabbed the kz vader balanced and TRN couch for 40 dollar usd total. with coupons, Really good deal!! Wanna give the TRN ST7 a try in the future cuz someone on head-fi prefered them over their ea500lm for certain genre of music, like metal and rock.
Most sets in a similar price range are technically similar but it is the tuning that is different. So as I said, MT4P, slightly brighter and thinner, Hola is darker, not bright. Better isn't the right way to think about it, it is which plays back in a way you prefer it.

I don't know the official story but yeah, seemed to have started as a collaboration and terminated before it was finalized or agreed upon by both sides.

This is true, its quite close. For most people, tip rolling,maybe some EQ would put it in the right spot.

ZS10 Pro X. MT4 Pro is a bit thin, I wouldn't call that an upgrade
