Well this confirms my expectations. Xenns really take their time with their releases/refreshes and none of their releases has been a dub and they position their 3 product so well apart from each other while still keeping some characteristics of their house tuning on every set. Just ordered and got them for $278. I think I did alright.
@@PaulWasabii No secret here. I ordered from their shop on Taobao, it's on sale 90% of time, so $278 is like the actual price they are selling in China and direct to their customers. They are a bunch of great guys. If you order from Taobao, they give you 7 days for demo, and you can decide if you want to keep it or return for full refund, 0 restocking fees or anything. Just great guys, stands behind their stuff with full confidence.
@@k.w5804 thats an insane deal! how easy is it to order from the US on taobao? I remember hearing from 2 different reviewers that they were able to get a custom faceplates from xenns there and thought about getting the top with a custom face at one point.
Monk, when I ordered the Tea Pro (from their Taobao shop) I asked why Up isn't being listed. They said they are finalizing the tuning and preparing for trial production. You might want to wait for the new UP. I'm excited as well.
@@k.w5804ha! So my thoughts were right, we are due for an update. I wanted to get either top/up, now will patiently wait for a new one. Meanwhile awaiting for the Penon Fan 3 to arrive.
Thank you for your videos, as usual. Would you say this is a worthy upgrade to the CCA Hydro? I'm looking at buying a nice cohesive set that remains somewhat fun, musical and bassy. I'm willing to go up to $500-600. The Mangird seems to be a logical step up but I wanted to know if you think there's a better option in my budget. I've been very happy with your recommendations before. Thanks in advance!
Nah, there really isn't a cheaper option. Tea Pro is really well done. Hydro is more about having a limited budget and wanting a taste of what high BA count sets are about. Tea Pro is more of a set that you buy and make it your everyday carry. It is bassy, but has more control than the others. If you like the boom, then there is DaVinci or Dynaquattro. I prefer control and end to end balance.
Thanks for the review. I wonder how it performs with AfulExplorer. The latter is an amazing set but I always wish just a little energy in the crispiness and sparkle in the high ends.
Right, its probably a step more in that direction, but also comes with a hefty price increase. Keep an eye out for used sets, that was the trick on Top.
Kinda gets to the appeal of Xenns, their tuning appeals to some listener types. Not the same type as Dusk. Xenns is warm with some techs. Dusk is techs with some warmth. I think that is part of the appeal of Xenns, more musical preferenced people vs technical people who will appreciate the Dusk treble. Everyone wants everything, but be honest and think about your priorities.
I don't have White Tiger, but graph looks ok and interesting configuration. I typically don't chase the TRN sets unless I see a lot of people really liking it. Maybe it will pickup later if they put it on promotion
Excllent review! 👍👍 I also tend to lower the sub bass on many sets. On top of deadening some other freqs it can be come fatiguing during long listening sessions. The Tea Pro sound like a set I would enjoy. Will probably never spend that much on one tbough... Hydro or EW300 and Eq more likely. Hope you get the review the KE4. Interested in hearing your opinion on the new Meta tunning many people are talking about lately... Thanks 🙏
I thought Top was a nice set and at the time I said it was nice, but better at used prices. Tea Pro may not be better at everything, but will be a much better value if you can grab it on sale. Tea Pro scratches the itch that I had for Top but it will be interesting if they released a new set in that range.
I was really interested until you mentioned that it sounds like the guy who tuned it liked to listen at higher volumes. It's probably too much to ask for this tuning style done at a lower volume.
Lower volume warmish sets are really hard to do and you end up with a set that only works at low volume. You end up with something similar to Estrella, sounds boosted and resolving even at low volume but too much at higher volume
That doesn't make any sense. Expensive sets from Chinese manufactures have been around for years and they're still around because people continue to buy them. But most ChiFi is still inexpensive and performance has improved over the years.
I agree with you and that is why I have complained about some of these $200-$400 sets. We had a streak there of every set was the new $500 and under King. None of them were kings, but some had nice drivers and nice tuning, some were just hype and won't have the longevity.
The competition in this 200-400 set are basically too much now and for me that i want to buy something and end , all of them are very hard to choose ( still thinking about mega 5 EST 7th anniv edition but its also not right in my mind)
Apologies for the slight OT - anyone (or Paul Wasabii) have any recs for a NON- fatiguing set of IEMS ($400 USD tops) - Thinking about the AWFUL Explorer but interested in other options. Need relaxing long long duration IEMs (not nec interested in EQ). Thank you!
I mean isn't this set under 400 and non fatiguing? Paul says many times it is a warm relaxed sound and not overly analytical. I think you would be happier with this over anything else under 400.
agree with @lilnapkin462 ... this Tea Pro's graph and Paul's description is EXACTLY what you describe... relaxing long long duration IEM... and possible the Dunu SA6 Mk II, which I have on the way, along with this Tea Pro that I will buy in about four hours when the sale starts. I will keep whichever of those two I prefer. I'm not into having a lot of IEMs... three tops. I auditioned the Oracle Mk III at Canjam and it wasn't relaxing at all, esp. 3k-5k, and the Ziigaat Arete was almost there, but I still found it a little hot in the lower treble region. And they both graph exactly as they sounded, so I'm confident this Tea Pro will sound as it graphs. I thought about Explorer also, but the treble dip above 10k isn't needed to get a long relaxed listen... it is overkill. The M5E 7th does what you want... I sold it on since I found it oddly unengaging. Can't explain why. Probably a fit issue since I couldn't get the bass to come alive even with EQing, even though I tried 9 different tips with it and powered it balanced off a well powered Onix Alpha dongle.
Thanks Paul
Can’t wait til 11/11
This is on my wish list
I can't wait for 11-11 too. Keep an eye out for the Linsoul gift card events or discount cards, not sure what they call them now.
Thank you so much Paul. Been waiting for this one. I’ve been eyeing these for the last two wks

At $278, you can flip it and make some money. I do think they have a house sound or point of view and they are very good at executing it.

Thanks, the reviews have been excellent for these.
Great review Paul. This sounds like my JAM like my beloved UP, sounds like Xenns did it again.
You guys!, 👍
Xenns is really good at executing their style. That style might not be for everyone, but they are good at finding the balance.

How it compared to Dusk? Both are Same price.
Same question .. I enjoy the dusk DSP. But Paul’s review for this one was very nice ..

can you talk a bit about the shell? The top was among the best fitting pseudo custom IEMs I've tried. Is the shell similar?
I don't have Top, it was a loaner so can't really compare it easily.
I vastly prefer the OG Tea to the Tea 2. This seems very much like a Tea 2 with more treble extension.
That is possible. The OG was a legendary set and most sequels don't work out better if you like the original in IEM land
vs hype 2 ?
Hi Paul do you have any chance to review TRN White Tiger? If I'm not wrong, dual DD is your favorite. TRN White Tiger has 2 DD + micro planar

Another great content and review Paul, is the Tea Pro a better IEM than the Top

Eh, spent a bunch of time complaining about other sets but had to point out some things that set Tea Pro out from the pack

That doesn't make any sense. Expensive sets from Chinese manufactures have been around for years and they're still around because people continue to buy them. But most ChiFi is still inexpensive and performance has improved over the years.
Have not noticed any downward trend, quite the opposite. The ultra budget to budget releases are on fire.
there are still cheap chifi, so yeah, there is choice.
