Mhhhm Delicious, instead of combining all ingredients together & separating them for boiling half I'd rather start to caramelize sugar then add milk & stir until it's well incoporated then lastly for the shiny touch butter
Hi, you will know it is ready when you put a bit of fudge in cold water and let it sit for a few seconds and when you take it out and rub it with your fingers it forms into a ball and doesn't stick to your fingers.
Hi from New Zealand. I will never make this fudge when my kids are home🤣 If my kids could have eaten the pot and wooden spoon, they would have. I had to dip my finger in the pot to have a taste and oh my yumminess, The texture came out like mackintosh Lollie's, and I love Mackintosh Lollie's, and I will attempt to make it tomorrow, Thank you kindly.
@@CookWithPenny with much appreciation, I sincerely thank you. Such a yummy fudge. My family and I love the fudge, and I will make this once a month till my children have had enough then I'll make it yearly as a treat.
I have always just made it with full cream milk, haven't used low fat, but I don't think there will be a difference, you can maybe try and experiment 😃
I made this recipe but it turned out to be too chewy, more like those soft caramel candies which you chew and sticks all over your teeth. Why is that? Also mine is colored like caramel. I throw some walnuts in it at the end and now waiting for the whole thing to cool down so I can cut it. I cooled a piece and tried it and it's like too chewy can anyone help what went wrong? :(
@@ajjames8691 I tried this recipe second time since I commented 2 days ago. I don't have candy thermometer so I used my mechanic shop infrared one to test engines. Boiled a lot longer and when it reached 237F, I took it out. Now it's like a caramel colored glass brick. It is impossible to cut this thing, knife won't even score or dent the surface. I tried to break it on the corners and it shatters like glass with tiny, razor sharp pieces. I'm not exaggerating, pieces are cutting wax paper like razor. I wrapped it as whole and saving for later, one of these days I am going to try to re-melt it in cream, or milk, maybe water and turn this into caramel sauce. It's cheap ingredients but I don't want to waste them. Maybe I am done trying making fudge, I don't know I am so angry at myself how can I not make this. Maybe Fudge is something like this but I don't know, never eaten one. I was expecting something like very dense but crumbly toffee, not chewy like toffee but slight. I was expecting it to be able to break by hand and not sticky. I don't know.. Thanks for commenting.
Hi there, what causes it to be chewy is that you might have taken it out too early and it needs to stay a little bit longer. Try testing it before removing it, by taking a small amount of it and put it in cold water. Let it stay in water for a few seconds and feel it with your fingers (,as shown in the video) if it is sticky that means you need to cook it for a while longer. If it forms a ball, that is less sticky that means it is ready.
About it being a caramel colored glass brick., Did you use all the ingredients in the video? Try also using the same exact measurements I used. Don't give up, just keep on trying, you'll get it right.
@@CookWithPenny I melted glass caramel brick in water and added butter, made a thick caramel sauce. Then I ate the first batch by dipping them into the sauce I made from 2nd batch. I also dipped apples and ate it. I can barely move now. If I manage to get up and go to the store, I'm going to buy milk and try again. I have eaten so much sugar that I was climbing walls couple of hours ago but now, sugar rush has passed and I can't even get up to go to the bathroom, I'm holding it for over 30 minutes. I keep hearing Pennie's voice saying pot, pot, pot I don't know.. I'vent eaten this much sugar since I was a kid for over 30 years ago.. I used all the ingredients but my milk was lactose-free skim milk, maybe that is the reason. When I manage to get up and walk again, I will go get whole normal milk and try again. I will comment soon with the updates. Thank you for replying!
Please think before you speak. This is fudge not cookies or some other recipe. Less or more sugar in the case of fudge or this particular recipe doesn't mean less or more sweetness it rather means less or more fudge 🙄. The level of sweetness will be the same. You even added syrup so yours is probably sweeter
@@ellyjessy5044 And you think about your sugar intake ok or are you waiting to be diabetic...Theres far too much sugar in fudge and it's not needed ...U carry on ...

Are you in Namibia
What's the reason you divide the mixture in half
So the mixture doesn’t overflow
Does this fudge Come out hard or soft?
Hey Penny I just found your channel. I'm sorry to see that you are no longer making videos. I enjoy your recipes.
What if we onnly have small measuring spoons 😢
I'm dying to try this recipe.

@@CookWithPenny does it matter which milk type suits best, only full cream or low fat will do as well?

My fudge turnout amazing🎉❤❤
That’s awesome. I am happy to hear that 😊
Merry Christmas
Hi, what is the cup measurements for sugar and milk?😊
Hi. A cup of sugar equals to 200g or 250 ml. So 2 cups of sugar will be 400g or 500ml. 1 cup of milk is 250 ml. And two cups of milk will be 500 ml
One quart of milk, two C sugar
This is the same as making condensed milk?
I'm going to try this
Awesome
😊
That was nice
Thank you
Thank youuuuuuuu❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
Hi Penny why do you divide your mixture in two?
Maybe so it doesn't overflow 🙂
How many minutes does it take
It depends, around about 30 to 40 minutes
Please do without chocolate
1 i burned my finger with the pot😢
2 i almost over burned the fudge
3 i tried again and it was 👌🏾
Hi why is my fudge not thickening
Can u add coconuts if u like?
Yes, you can.
This really help the fudge was exactly like urs thanks
I am happy to hear that. 👏

You cooked it for too long
Where's the chocolate?😢
Please break or have a piece next time so I can see the texture.
Ok😂😂
Too much sugar ..ive made fudge with much less sugar and added 2 tabl spoon golden syrup..believe me it tastes just right sweetness

This is for when you DON'T have syrup. So glad I found this recipe, because I don't have syrup.
Syrup IS sugar.. so not really sure what the difference would be - unless you are using maple syrup.
