I wouldn't say that because the original cast members of smallville they still talk about the show even today they still talk about it on their podcast ex inside of you podcast run by Micheal Rosenblum smallville lex tom welling smallville Clark guest star lots of time. Fans do not find out about the smallville animation idea until it was announced on the podcast inside of you about 3 years ago..
I believe it’s overrated and it’s underrated. It’s never been my favorite version of Superman, but it created legions of new Superman fans than any other version. Many of those fans, put Smallville on a high pedestal. Older fans, like my parents age, couldn’t care less about Smallville. For me, I like it a lot. But LOIS & CLARK as well as SUPERMAN & LOIS are among my favorite adaptations. And that’s okay. Everyone has a version of Superman they cling to, and that’s as it should be.
@@josefsilvia5360 Superman and Lois is a gem. Especially the last two seasons. One of the best finales with a banger message for us all that I've seen in years
It's Funny Smallville the First DC show on CW takes you through Clark's Formative Years until he meets his destiny to become Superman, and Superman & Lois takes you through Clark's Final years as Superman and that makes it poetic because its the Last DC show from the CW. It Started and Ended with Superman.
I LOVE Smallville for all these reasons, so I bought the series. It had Christopher Reeve in it. I do wish they would have had 2 episodes where he wore the sexy suit.
I absolutely agree with you on the importance of Smallville and the effect it had on future TV adaptation of comics to the small scene, but you have to acknowledge that a TV show, that ran for 10 seasons, had much more time to tell a story and develop its characters were as a movie on has a couple of hours. Regardless , Smallville rocks!
GTFOH LOL TOM WELLING IS A TOOL! CRYING i DONT WANNA WEAR THE SUIT BLAH BLAH. OH AND FIGHTING SUPERMAN BASED VILLIANS WHEN HE ISNT EVEN SUPERMAN LOL DUMB AS FUCK
I'm gonna argue with you on one line only. You said it's presence can be felt on other superhero tv shows today. I would actually argue that it's influence can be felt in ALL successful superhero programs today period. The mcu is essentially a slow burn of storytelling culminating in a single moment we know is coming. Avengers, avengers end game, these power their existence to smallville as well. Smallville proved that these characters could hold audience attention long enough to do these slow burn stories.
The actress who played Chloe kind of ruined it for me because she's so evil in real life...... but then again allot of bad things happen to Chloe and she cries allot 😄 but I own all 10 seasons and it's my favorite adaptation
It was the best (but not perfect) depiction of Superman on TV or movies. I thought there should have been a season 11 with the name changing to Metropolis.
The problem is that everyone embraces a show where it took 10 seasons for him to even become mild mannered Clark Kent and hardly even Superman in the finale but then claim that Snyders superman took a long time for him to become Superman. Now this video is saying Man of steel didn't take enough time to develop into Superman ?? Like huh ?? You guys are full of bull Roids.
What he's saying is that there was no balance between him being Clark and him being superman.man of steel doesn't really touch on the human aspect of Superman. Whereas smallville focuses on Clark becoming Superman(although I kinda wish they did it in five seasons on him becoming Superman, and then the other five seasons show him actually doing his Superman duties as a hero. But I still enjoyed it all the way through). I'm not trying to change your mind or tell you that you're wrong. Just trying to clear the air
@chatblanc1213 No. I mean that's hands down a horrible analysis just to fit a pre conceived and false narrative. Clark was dealing with the most human aspects in MOS. He went from a kid who isolated himself from other kids to gaining some that he trust like Lana and Pete Ross. But as he grew up into the world and job force he did experience loneliness, something we can all relate to. He was also grieving from the departure of his father doing his best to honor his wishes the best way he thought he could. We all know what it's like to grieve. Some of us will in time but the conviction to honor our love ones is deep seeded in our hearts just as it was for Clark's character which is a human traight. , he was scared though that humanity would reject him but he still did what he had to do to protect others because deep down he cared about people and their well being. That is a human traight as well. He worked at a bar just to make ends meet for his mother. I'm sure many of us who were raised in a single mother parenthood can relate to that. The things you have to sacrifice so that your family is taken care of is truly a selfless act which means he developed more and more of his humanity. When he became mild mannered reporter he accepted trust in humanity. He developed into a man who could step out of the shadows and trust that the world would embrace him. He was no longer in fear, and he wasn't hiding so much. Just keeping a low profile like we all do from day to day between our jobs and our careers or hobbies. So there was great development Of Clark in MOS. BVS fallows up with that Progression as Clark is active reporter Clark Kent doing his job employed at the daily planet. The truth is 3 films is enough to develope a character. You don't need 10 or even 5 seasons.
i totally agree with you this smallville tom welling clark kent is much better than cavill superman becuase he succeeded defeat darkseid about tom welling his birthday is april 26th and mine is april 25th i was born in early 2000s when spider man trilogy and the dark knight trilogy came out
It is a nice guilty pleasure show, but boy the acting and writing is not good. Clark is way too passive, Jor-Els character is beyond inconsistent, and the show goes in weird circles where they bring in an element (Lexcorp, Prof. Hamilton etc.), write it out of the show, and then bring it back seasons later as if they have never established it before. And let's not talk about the effects in later seasons
did you even watch smallville? IT WASNT SUPERMAN! He was Superman for 3 seconds of the series. It was Clark discovering himself he was NOTHING like superman. Christopher Reeve THAT WAS Superman. It was superman ripped right out of the comics!
The entire show was all about Super Tom Welling, never really developing the Clark persona, and he NEVER became Superman. He never appeared in the true costume, only imitation suits, one that looked like he was trying to be a clone of the Dark Knight, Bat-Welling.

Exactly!
It's criminally underrated. Even by the actual cast members who don't regard it very highly.

Smallville made Superman RELATABLE!! PERIOD!! 👌🙏
I love smallville, from the cast to the theme song and exploration of the coming of age story with Clark growing into the hero we all love and revere.
🥰🥰
Remy Zero's song fit so so perfect.
Best show ever loved this whole idea and presentation.
🥰
its weird but even with the new superman movie coming out by james gunn I find myself always going back to smallville.
