I know of a situation where a car pulled onto a highway from a side road. Speed limit was 55 one the highway. A motorcycle estimated to be going 150mph hit the car broadside, killing the biker AND the two occupants of the car. Granted, this was 30 years ago and cars are safer now, but that possibility still exists. Some may fault the driver of the car for pulling out. But no one expects someone to be going almost 3x the limit, together with the small profile of the bike looking at it head on and the distance between them.
I never get this mindset. Yes, a motorcycle is smaller relative to a car, but a 500-700 pound motorcycle cruising at 120 MPH is not something I’d want to have hit me. Not to mention if the rider dies, throw in a little bit of trauma for the driver who was involved.
