The most soulful funksters to come out of Dundee, Scotland. Still the best band logo ever.
Another hit they had was called "Cut the Cake." Just as Funky as this one.
Schoolboy Crush was awesome too.
I know you played it again and danced like you wanted on your 1st run through.
🎶🎷🕺🏾🎶🎷
I saw them in concert, early ‘70s. So much fun.
Their most funkalicious number is School Boy Crush! ❤❤
YES!!
Nice! Schoolboy crush is a must fam.👊🏾👊🏾
Scottish Funkadelic!! AWB is amazing live!
Other gems from this great album are "You Got It," "Person to Person," "Keepin' It to Myself," "There's Always Someone Waiting," and a remake of the Isley Brothers' "Work to Do."
Hamish Stuart joined Paul McCartney’s band (where he switched between guitar and bass as necessary with McCartney) for McCartney's 1989 comeback album, Flowers in the Dirt and appeared on several other albums and McCartney's world tours of 1989 and 1993. - Wikipedia
1974, I played the shit out of this tune. Awesome
Love these guys. 🎶🥰🎶🥰
Was listening to these guys way back in the early 70s. and was amazed that a funk Band from Scottland, was so good! Add in the great name, and we were all confused. The bottom line is that they are really good.
Thanks Friend...
TRUST ME on this one my music lovin' brother,, The Average White Band "Cut The Cake" (Live On Soul Train Video) 🔥❤️
Check out the live version recorded at Montreux in 1977...it's on UA-cam...
Nothing Average here!
"School Boy Crush" is one of my faves by them.
Thanks so much for this one! This was a fantastic choice and reaction! Probably their most popular hit! Thanks again, JM! ✌💙✌
The Doors.... "Break On Through'.... "Riders On The Storm"..."The End"....
Such a killer tune! Like the album cover too!✌️❤️
That was the late great Malcom "Molly" Duncan on the tenor sax solo.
Imagine you're on the dance floor at a large club like "BIG Daddy's Lounge Newport Beach and this songs starts... everybody hits the floor and the ladies grab my arm and insist I dance with them.Great memories come with great music.
SO much more to the AWB than Pick Up The Pieces.
Check out Schoolboy Crush, truckloads of funk to get you moving.
Queen of my Soul another banger,as is Who’ll Stop The Rain.
Loads more.
Honestly, I haven't listened to this song in so many years. Thanks for having it.
Cut The Cake... live version 🍰 🎂
Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Scotland's finest. What about one of England's finest, The small faces or the Zombies 🏴🇬🇧❤
Hey JMBOY, If you want some more funk by Average White Band (AWB) you should react to these other tracks by them: "Cut The Cake," "School Boy Crush," "Person To Person" and "Work To Do." You'll be glad you did too, I guarantee it!!!
I'm in my 60s. I used to dance to the son in the clubs back in the day
A great rabbit hole to go down. Great reaction. Try " person to person"!
This entire Album is hot like fire! This is the music of my teen years and I'm still listening to it at age 65!! I just saw that they are performing in DC soon. Yes, they are still picking up the pieces🔥💃🎶🤗
Person To Person and Schoolboy Crush..a must listen!!
Check out their live Person to Person album. Their songs Person to Person,Cut the Cake, and Cloudy are funkier than their studio recordings. They sound like different songs. Person to Person is so good, you’ll wish you could go back in time to be at the concert! Great live recording!
Also check out their studio records of School Boy Crush(that bass is so fat!), A Love of Your Own, The Jugglers(one of their early songs with super funky bass), Work to Do(a great Isley Brothers remake), Queen of My Soul.
Funk, Funk and more Funk. It kicks live
Oh yeah. Such a great one!!!!! My favorite! 😊😊
Pure FUNK right here brother!
This is one of my favorites of theirs
Yes AWB was funky and good. In a similar vein check out the song " Express" from a group called B.T. Express who hailed from Brooklyn New York. Song came out the same year as this - 1974. As in this song the Saxophones carried the song.
Produced by the legendary Arif Mardin! I had the honor of working with him in the 90s...
Iconic. Super groovy. Great pick
I saw them live in '75 ❤ So good‼️
I am familiar with this band but got a wonderful surprise. Listen to "Feel No Fret" and you will be surprised as well !!!!!!!
This album is solid, front to back. It has been said that people in the United Kingdom understand soul music better than the 'average white man' in the United States; and while that is certainly generalizing, this Scottish band sure made a good argument for that. You've done two from the album so you're already one ahead of most reactors, lol. Great uploads.
Gotta Love the Album Cover.
Check out their track Schoolboy Crush.
It's hard to sit still with this funky music. Awesome! 🎶🎶👍
One of my main objectives is to suggest new artist you "I'm Not Familiar With" never heard before. Then I try to add my four favorite tunes from each artist Playlist. Many names you have several more than four songs. I'd like to add this group/song.... Little Feat - "Willin"
Now drop the nasty funk with School Boy Crush.
(Hope it’s okay to do this here) An outstanding, unusual Queen song I think you’ve missed is “Who Wants To Live Forever” - and I strongly suggest the studio version/official video. I promise it’ll jump into your top five Queen songs. You’d probably like David Bowie’s “Underground” too.
Live please!
❤❤❤❤
Check out AWB at Daryls house. It will blow your socks off. Everything from Daryls house is excellent 👍
AWB - “Work To Do”
Their best, IMO
Have you done a reaction to their song Cut the Cake?
Great music. The whole synth znx sequence thing I picked from Guy Pratt, how to play bass lines, (kinda, he's sloppy, and runs to opinions). And interviews in International Musician, specify the artist or musician you want to know about. Like, The Gap Band, for example
Disco did NOT suck
It was wonderful
Check out school boy crush
Check out school boy crush. By AWB
AWB....not so average lol :)
the drummer playing on this album died of a drug O.D. and was replaced by another drummer, they didnt miss a beat.
they were regulars on Soul Train, everyone thought they were black
