    I made these yesterday and can’t stop eating them 😳I actually didn’t have all purpose flour and used bread flour (i added a bit less than the recipe called for) and it still turned out amazing

    quick question gretchen. are u using black strap molasses for this recipe? this looks so yummy. i want to try this recipe. i”ve actually bought duncan hines brownie mix. and i know how to make brownies WITH eggs. Now I am in my late forties and I have developed an allergy towards eggs and I still love cakes, cookies, and brownies and I want to still be able to eat these without having issues. So, I been watching youtube videos on how to see if I can replace eggs for the binding. Please let me know. thanks.

      No, I do not have any black strap molasses. I just use the regular molasses that you find in the supermarket. I think it’s called grandma’s brand?
      But if you click the link in the description below this video, it will take you to my website where I have the scratch recipe for brownies which I do use molasses in and I have a box brownie hack, which I think you’ve probably seen? If not, I have an in-depth video attached to the written recipe just search “box brownies” on my website and you’ll find it.

    Hi Gretchen I’m watching from northern California right now laying under my covers because the wind is so bad here it’s just not something that we are used to I’ve lived here in Sacramento for many many years and I can’t ever remember the wind being this bad it knocked down my fence last night in the backyard and I have shingles off my roof all over the place and then they said that the rain and wind is going to get worse tonight so it’s a little scary over here a lot of flooding I don’t think it’s ever been this bad in Sacramento area. I hope things are going well for you guys over there in Florida

      Thanks! Yes! Its true, although nowadays there’s the “raw flour scare” so if you are making this with intentions to serve this as some sort of “brownie batter” something or other, then be sure to toast your flour first 👌🏼

      I try to always include the ansswers to questions I know I will get, as well as troubleshooting & substitutions for ingredients in teh written recipe post

      "Some people are opposed to using coffee in their recipes but coffee and chocolate are best friends!
      Coffee brings out the best characteristics of chocolate so I hope you will try it!
      You will not taste the coffee I promise! However if you prefer, you can use water instead."

    Question: you put these in a sheet pan in the video and the recipe link says 8x8 pan. Did you double the recipe for the sheet pan? Asking because my kids eat 8x8 pans on anything in one bite. 😉

      Yes correct, as I mentioned in the video this base recipe works great in all sorts of pans.
      Here is an updated answer~ thanks for pointing this out::
      Depending on the size, thickness and look you are going for you really can bake this recipe into any sized pan.
      The recipe listed below will make:
      8" x 8" Pan for thicker brownies
      1/4 Sheet Pan for thinner brownies (bake time will be slightly less)
      12 Cupcakes
      3-7" Round Cake Layers
