The band formed organically in 2013 as the brainchild of the rhythm guitarist Miku, who had worked in a maid cafe. Miku recruited Kanami, the lead guitarist, after seeing her videos on UA-cam. Kanami recruited Akane, the drummer, who she had worked with before. Akane recruited MISA, the bassist, who she had attended the Tokyo School of Music with. after two months, Miku realized her voice wasn’t powerful enough for the music they wanted to play and they got their management to find them another singer…. and Saiki came on board. By august 2013, they were in the current configuration and going strong ever since.
Want to add that Kanami and Akane were good firends before Band-Maid, not just professional buds. Akane was apparently treated like a daughter in the Kanami household lol.
Band Maid was put together by a "small pigeon"! Want to know the whole story, watch the excellent documentary series from Ohrenje. Next song? How about "Puzzle" 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂🕊
Another vote for watching the documentaries, after you get a few more songs under your belt! They really showcase all the members, their personalities, what they went through to get to this point. It's truly inspiring!
Over ten years as a band. No doubt you will read about how good they are and how they don't have a bad song in their library of music. Truth is there is no praise that gives them enough credit. They are simply that good and unique.
You smacked that nail on the head hard! It is very difficult to remark on everything that each member has to do to make each song so freakin' good. The Champ of Medium reactor does a really great job of breaking down just how inventive they are!
Best band on the planet! Great reaction….no label can put a band this good together. In fact, they were about to be dropped if their “Thrill” video didn’t go nuclear. These ladies are the greatest band in rock history. And I go back to the Van Halen, Rush and Led Zepplin days. I thought the best of rock was behind us, but what it needed was a woman’s touch and Band Maid is it ❤
OMG, you mentioned Rush in a reaction to Band-Maid! I recently wrote an essay of considerable length on the things these two groups have in common that make their performances amazing. Obvious big differences, of course, but in the end it's the same sort of energy that makes them both compelling to watch and listen to. You're amazing, Red! Rock on!
On their official channel you can find the Manners - Black Hole combo. Both songs will give you a very complete vision of the use of drums in this band. Akane Hirose is one of the most versatile drummers I have heard in the last 20 years. Good job!. Thank you.
No, they were not “put together by a label.” Band-Maid are self-made. They had to fight their original record company to play the style they wanted to play. For two years, the record company rejected every song written by the lead guitarist Kanami, who now leads all of their song-writing, production work and rehearsals (with input from the others on their own instrumental parts and lyrics from a Miku). And now they are with a bigger record company. This is what talent, loving teamwork, and ten years of very hard work by five Japanese girls with a dream can achieve. They are inspirational. ❤🕊❤🌊❤🦍❤🥷❤👸🏻
Misa (bass) would approve of your love for The Smashing Pumpkins, one of her favourite bands alongside The Pixies. Misa's music of choice is grunge and before Band Maid she played in a band for several years that were likened to The Smashing Pumpkins by one reviewer.
9:40 - Here ya' go. Welcome to the pigeon hole (err rabbit hole): Hate? (Official Live) Freedom (2020 live) Warning! (MV) Manners & No God Rinne Shambles (MV)

One of about a bazillion things I love about The Maids is the group was totally organically formed. Miku found Kanami, Kanami knew Akane, Akane knew Misa and then Saiki auditioned (but I THINK Miku had already kind of singled Saiki out). There's a GREAT series of documentary videos that was put together by Ohrenje (YT channel) that features each member. Start with Saiki. Next song? Maybe "Blooming"- mv or "Manners" - mv...or anything else anyone suggests. It's ALL Golden. Welcome brand new Maidiac! 🕊
Kobato Miku is so intrinsic to the BM story that her part of the documentary was split into 3 parts. The only bio with more than 1 Parr. She is boss, accountant, paymaster, sole contract negotiator chief lyricists, sings BVs and lead on several songs. The only maid who never leaves stage for breaks. Instead she talks and sometimes walks among crowd making jokes and doing her anime act. She's so endearing and owns the rights to everything. Even when label was going to cancel contract, they were keeping Miku. She refused to change anything. Later she would get revenge. She had a better offer of management from Pony label. A much larger company. Nobody saw this coming except Miku who apparently didn't like old label trying to give her ultimatum.
Formation of the band has been written a few times, so I won't repeat it 😁 I will mention there is a documentary series about the group available here on UA-cam: it's on Ohrenje's UA-cam channel. Well worth watching when you want to learn a bit about the band, and I fully recommend watching them! High quality informative and fun. Be sure to record it so we can watch along with for *even more fun!* Each is about 30mins and they cover each member individually, with Miku (band founder) getting 3 episodes 😀
At the beginning you were hearing the last notes of their song Play, which is also available on their UA-cam Channel. The Ladies took about 5 seconds to walk back to their pedal boards to reset, then launched into Domination. Their concerts are 3-5 songs, a brief break to reset pedal boards, switch out guitars, get a drink to wet their throats, maybe a few seconds of talking, then they launch into the next set of 3-5 songs. Intersperse 2-3 MC portions which includes Miku's Omajinai (Majic Spell) Time, a 10-15 minute stand up, call and response that makes the Ladies Okyuji's (Servings)even more enjoyable and memorable. Now for some more information about the Ladies and the formation of Band-Maid. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their UA-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. The song that really highlights the drummer (Akane) is their song "Freedom" also from the same concert this OLV is from, and also available on their channel. The Ladies have OVER 130 songs in their discography, not including alternate versions, with alternate versions they have over 160 songs in their discography. They will be releasing a new album later this summer and you can purchase their 2023 Tour Finale concert which was over 3.5 hours and 33 songs, on both DVD and BluRay. I personally have both and I enjoy it very much. As for the next song, literally just pick ANY song available on their channel, even the ones which don't have an official MV or OLV, which are available under the "Releases" tab on their channel. These Ladies are so good, that we don't NEED a video to really enjoy all of their music.
Another banger. Love them! I like the unique mix of Japanese and English lyrics too. I remember another Japanese Heavy Metal band from the 80's called Vow Wow who sung in English. I guess it's probably the only way to for a Japanese band to get a foothold with Western audiences.
I knew it. I was 99.9% certain that you'd be mind-blown by this performance (judging from your The Warning reactions). And you were -- I don't think I've ever seen a reactor go to such a far away place as you did at about 6:40!
These women have woven together all the loose ends of rock into something magical. Their music is energizing. It quickens the pulse and will make your face hurt from smiling.
Red...you're a natural-born Maidiac. Their songs just shine with their genuine rockin intent. I'm a lost boy...down the Pigeon Hole (the walls are greased...no escaping 😁). 'Freedom' Live...the world's happiest drummer will melt your heart...make you wanna adopt a gorilla 🥁🦍❤
And here is the crazy thing you have not even, remotely, barely, scratched the surface. They indeed do have that "something". Next??? - Daydreaming ( best mid tempo song perhaps ) - Freedom ( great fun and great drum solo ) - Puzzle ( live ) - Hate ( everyone will tell you this one ha ) - only 143 more and every single song is FIRE. Impossible yet true I have no idea how they do it
Can you imagine how the concert will be next month with The Warning opening for them in Japan, Tokyo I believe. That is gonna be one loud concert. 😀 They formed in 2013, same year as The Warning. They are fans of one another and you can see them meeting in a festival here on YT. Next song I recommend is 'Don't You Tell Me' or 'Freedom' to see the drummer in action. Great reaction.
This was a dominating performance! Having fun and performing at a top level in skill and energy! You should check out "Play", "Freedom" and "Choose Me from this same concert, or serving as the band calls them! Band-Maid's breakthrough "Hit" would be "Thrill", as that song gathered two million views in two weeks and saved the band from being cancelled. They just kept progressing with their sound since then, getting better and better! They have all the original members and are great friends on and of stage. The skills these ladies exhibit are off the charts! They write their own music or almost all of it since the song "Alone" was allowed onto a album. A great band, Po!
Red I have never seen you speechless amazing ❤❤❤❤#bandmaid #bandmaidreaction # #femalerock #redjeadedneighbor #bestRreactor #redsarmy #beautifukcountrygirl
Congratulations on discovering the best band in the world. Actually I am 55 and 90% of my playlist is Japanese bands. Any song of theirs would be a good pick. And if you are interested there are many other great Japanese bands to check out!
The accidental magic 🪄 of these specific five ending up together and all the stars ✨ lining up for them to break out into the world 🌎 is part of why they are so loved by the fans. We know how lucky we are. ❤ But what continues to stun me is how each one of our Maids is a genuinely good person. They love each other. And they are supremely humble. The smiles are real. You bet their shows are “events!” They make sure you feel like they came there just for you. When I saw them last year, Kanami, the lead guitarist spoke (as best she could in English) to the audience. “Hello. I am Kanami, please call me Mincho. It’s nice to meet you!” “Freedom,” official live is in the same musical lane as this one. I would like you to begin to see how versatile they are. Please consider “Daydreaming,” official music video Thank you for your wonderfully sincere and fun reaction!
You can tell by the audience participation that they were already huge by this point. They formed in 2013 (started by the rhythm guitarist, who used to work at a Maid Cafe). After a couple of years they were still fairly small and getting a bit discouraged. Then their music video for "Thrill" got promoted by an internet radio station in 2015. The video went viral (over 1 million views in a short time) and they were instant big hits internationally. It's been up hill ever since. Their songs have been used in anime and movies. They've opened for bands like Guns 'n Roses. Played at major festivals, and done international tours.
"UA-camr begging stuff"....LOL!! Band-Maid is total grass roots, started by Miku (rhythm guitar) a former Maid Cafe and Japanese Idol. Don't forget "Freedom" from the same concert....it'll scratch your drummer itch. When they gather around Akane (drummer) they are playing a Japanese game called Hengao (hen-gow) the art of making faces and they try to crack each other up during performances.......the girls are so funny on and off stage.
It's weird. You say to yourself it can't be. So many killer songs. There are 3 kinds of BandMaid songs- 1) EPIC!!!! 2) GREAT!!! 3) 1ST Listen = Not a bad song. Pretty good! Several listens later = Holy crepe, what the hell was I thinking. This song is GREAT!!
These ladies are the real deal, they have the "IT" factor, no one is quite sure what "IT" is, but they found "IT" somewhere, no doubt in my mind, the best touring ROCK band today
They also have like 130 or so amazing songs - in many styles of rock! They dont sound like anyone but themselves - Hears hoping you listen to some more :)
Thanks for the reaction and comments. As others have said, Band-Maid was formed organically back in 2013. As you’ve already noticed, these ladies are arguably the best live rock band on the planet. If you really want to see just how proficient they are as musicians, check out From Now On(MV). Otherwise, check out live music videos of Hate?, Play!, Moratorium, Real Existence, No God…or just pick any one at random that catches your eye. You won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to your next reaction vid. Until then…Cheers!
I think this group is currently one of the best rock groups in the world. The lead guitarist composes over 130 songs, and the rhythm guitarist creates the lyrics. All songs are great. Please watch this recording of a recent stage performance. It's amazing「BAND-MAID / HATE? (Official Live Video)」
The blue shirt with Data! :P~ The first chord you hear is from the previous song called "Play". The Official Live video is also available. Please react to it in the future! :) You will also be absolutely amazed!
Miku found Kanami, Kanami found Akane, Akane found Misa and Saiki was brought in last just because Miku felt her voice wasn't strong enough and she wanted a better vocalist for the band. There is a series of very interesting videos about each member of the band if you want to find out a lot of interesting stuff. I think they start with Misa (bass). Watch HATE? live from Yokahama Arena if you want to see something that will really get you reeling. There are a bunch of mind boggling liver performances and NO GOD really showcases Misa's talents as a bass player. As I always say: BEST ROCK BAND ON THE PLANET.
Don't know if "better" is the correct verbiage since even Saiki says Miku has better range and vocals, but they are more poppy and wanted a stronger rock and powerful voice.
Kanami knew/recruited Akane. They were in bands together and Akane played on Kanami's demos. Akane knew/recruited MISA. They were friends at the same music school, Tokyo School of Music. PO!🕊
Hey Red, you'll be happy to know that the Maids have around 130 songs in their catalog and.......a new album coming out this summer !! I can say with a straight face that they don't have any bad songs. Maidiac's have a saying, " your favorite Band-Maid song will be the last one you listened to. " So welcome & enjoy !! 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Thank you for your reaction! I loved it! Band-Maid produce, write and play their own songs. Hey guys, her first Band-Maid reaction is here: ua-cam.com/video/doMS0bEAJzk/v-deo.html
There are only two things that make me almost believe that there is a benevolent God - the existence of beer and the miracle known as BAND-MAID, enjoy your B-M journey you will not be disappointed, cheers 👍🍻
Before I saw them live in Tokyo (to see The Warning actually, because these two bands are friends) I had basically only heard this song in this version. And I was pleasantly surprised to get to hear it live for real and I loved it! Now I appreciate all of them for various reasons, but first person to catch my attention was Akane on drums, and the next one was Misa on bass :) Holding my breath almost, hoping they come back to Europe soon, but hopefully not while I'm back in Japan (hopefully) next spring, that would be frustrating haha
This was the one that I recommended you watch first, as it was the one that got me hooked. I see it got you too....even though you already kinda knew what to expect. 😀 Watch the bassist (MISA)'s fingers when she's playing the solo... she plays first with the pick, then tucks it up out of the way with her finger to play some 'slap bass' then switches back to the pick....all so smoothly that it is so easy to miss. "Freedom" (live) would probably be a good place to go next but you really can't go wrong with anything from their official channel. The live stuff does tend to have extra solos etc. (I have another recommendation for you to check out - Babymetal & Electric Callboy "Ratatata".)
The band formed organically with the support of a label. My best recomention is to what the Orenhe documentary serious of the maids. You will definitely enjoy those. But before all that , keep discovering Band-Maid
Love your enthusiasm for THE best Hard Rock band on Earth and your appreciation of their ridiculously good musicianship so subscribed as I see a lot more Band-Maid in your future. PS It may have been my comment and link to an Akane drum solo that I put on your first B-M reaction so, to save you having to go searching through all the comments, here it is again - Akane's drum solo warm-up before BLACK HOLE, at Yokohama Arena, Nov 2023 - ua-cam.com/video/d3Rkto9P4M4/v-deo.htmlsi=HhzNdytg29Mtbdcs . Here's a bonus too, a video from when the band was literally just starting that allowed Akane to showcase her capabilities - ua-cam.com/video/2O4vxkzjni8/v-deo.htmlsi=yy_lXzVyjWNl_eMY . Looking forward to your future reactions, neighbour!
As im sure half the comments bellow say - they formed themselves - The idea for the band was Miku's the little rythmn guitarist / 2nd vocals / lyricist / pigeon :) She reruited one of them then they recruited one more, who recruited one more :) Only Saiki the main singer was found by management on request, after theyd been together like less than a month and performed 1 or 2 small gigs when Miku decided they needed a different singer than her, and she went on to learn guitar on the job to add more to the band lol. They have all been together since- and except in their early days at a different label, they they write all their own music for the last 6 or 7 years or whatever its been. They are absolutely NOT a studio band- they made themselves, the image is their idea, the music is wrote and performed by them - they are all amazing musicians :) p.s They are older than you probably think! They were in their early to mid 20s when formed but by the time of this performance they are 25-28ish? And by now, even the youngest of them is 30.
All the Maids are awesome but drummer Akane in "Freedom" is the Gorilla unleashed. She must've been born holding drumsticks. 🤔I bet that was painful for her mum. Ouch!!
"Freedom" will be the one recommended for drums (for a very specific reason) although lots of examples of great drumming. Still think you should try "Endless Story" from latest concert. Organic origins - for Documentary (I keep getting comments blocked) look at ua-cam.com/video/8IvcvAafH3w/v-deo.html then do Kanami's Akane's Misa's then Miku's 3-parter
Welcome back to the BandMaid experience. The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts: •Bass solos are more likely to happen than not •Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be •Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen. •Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre! •You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that. •April Fools Day 2019 As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect. MV is stunningly beautiful. •The linchpin member of the band gets the least notice/praise. The Mighty Miku Kobato founder/lead singer steps back to make way for a new more hard rock vocalist. They want her to hold a guitar so she does and learns to play on the fly, performing all the while she's learning. So the person who willed the band into existence, who is the primary lyricist, the only member who sings and plays an instrument most of the time gets the least comments from reactors. Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs) •There is no "I" in BANDMAID. Well ok there is one "I" but my point is the songs are written by BandMaid. Not just Kanami Tono. The highly innovative bass and drum lines are created by Akane and MISA. There are no George songs and John&Paul songs. There are only BandMaid songs. •10 plus years with the same line up. Think about that. •More hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole. •Use of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics. •Despite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's. •As close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both. •Many songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. •They're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. •Make no mistake, this is not a regular band.

These women are fire. Not just technically proficient, but great at making you feel the music. The people who are blessed to be at the The Warning/BAND-MAID concert will have an event to remember.
MISA! MISA! MISA! Holding the line in Solid Guitar Rock, Band Maid has picked up the Mantel of Rock'n'Roll where the West has left it behind. Miku Kobato, Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals, was the Mind behind Babymetal!! She had previously been in an Idol group that broke up and was working in a "Maid Cafe" 'Serving' customers (Masters & Princesses) and pitched the idea to her producer of combining the Cute aesthetics of Maids with a Rock Band. He liked the idea, so Miku found Lead Guitarist Kanami from an Internet search...who suggested a Drummer she had worked with on occasion, Akane, who knew MISA, a Bassest she had been in a few bands with prior. They were the original 4, and Miku was the Lead Singer...but She and the others soon made a decision that they needed a more dynamic Lead Singer so an Audition was held and Saiki was picked. Miku moved to Backing Vocals and, though not knowing how to play, picked up the guitar and trained under Kanami to become a fantastic Rythm Guitarist in Her own right!! If you ever find yourself going to a Band Maid Concert, you will be 'Served' a Fantastic Show as all 'Masters' & 'Princesses' deserve!! Thanks for another great Reaction!! Po!
This song/video is often used as an introduction to Band-Maid. One thing about Band-Maid is that they have their own sound. They don’t sound like anyone else even when there are times when you can hear an influence from another band or musician. Being influenced is not the same as copying. I came across them in 2018 and was immediately a fan. Even though I’m a classically trained musician I have my music roots in 60’s and 70’s rock and have never let that go. Oh, I should mention I play the drums! 😊❤😉
Yes, this was for a long time the number one song for Band Maid beginners 😀Currently it seems to be "Hate?" but I love this one much more But what a nice reaction 🤩 In this video no one needs audio 🤣 A look into your face and everyone knows that you are becoming a Maidiac. I hope so because we get more Band Maid from your channel. I definitely subscribed. You asked for drums? You can get some ... in every song of course ... but you need "Freedom" (Live) 🙂 That's the next song for you! 😀 Its a performance of much joy and ... DRUMs, po 🕊 😀 Oh wait. Maybe "Moratorium" (Live at Zepp Tokyo) is exactly your thing ... 😲 oh girl ... why is it so difficult to recommend just one single song? Other songs that come into my mind: "Manners, Blackhole", "Daydreaming" (MV), "From now on" (MV), Play (Live), Real Existence (Live), Dice (MV), Bestie (MV, their latest song), Onset (Live), About us (Live), Corallium (Live), Endless Story (Live), .... so many more 😍 By the way: The Smashing Pumpkins (as well as Paz Lenchantin) are a great influence for bassist "Misa". And The Warning is playing a concert together with Band Maid in Japan (in June I think).
Можно смело брать любую песню у этой группы и слушать. Daydreaming, Bestie, Influencer, Freedom, Thrill, on set, или буквально любую другую :) Есть ещё акустические версии некоторых песен - они тоже звучат потрясающе.
U need to hear the band founder take a lead vocal. By the way, band maid invited the warning to do a joint show with them in japan next month. Members have followed each other on social media for awhile. There is a youtube vid of them meeting at the aftershock festival in 2022 ua-cam.com/video/sGzAQigaL14/v-deo.htmlsi=tKdPnFpqJjjF_E7K
Even DATA is shocked by *BAND-MAID* 🤖 😊 In the beginning there was a small pigeon 🐦 who met a guitarist 🎸 who played with a drummer 🥁 who went to school with the bassist 🎸 and then tricked the singer 🎤 to join the band then the small pigeon 🐦 asks the guitarist 🎸 please teach me how to play the guitar 🎸. The Story Continues.
That and a lot more can be learned in school with teacher "Ohrenje": Some songs later (I recommend to watch/listen to at least 5 more songs) you must watch his documentaries!
That made me think of that lyric in 'Smile', "Even nobodies like us, can become anything we want." 😂
Nice summary 🙂🤘
good resume
@@80mtn Smile's lyrics very nice.
The story of a dreaming girl becoming a rock star.
Don't sleep on those documentaries! Very professionally done.
Another vote for watching the documentaries, after you get a few more songs under your belt! They really showcase all the members, their personalities, what they went through to get to this point. It's truly inspiring!
+1 for the documentaries, an excellent series from Ohrenje.
I'm all in for the documentarys. Just make sure to do them in the right order.
Saiki first please!@sugaanessena3143
the drums....Freedom live. 🦍🥁🍌🍌🍌
Yes: Drums and 150% fun, po 🕊
I vote it.
Rock on!
I would love to read this essay! Lifelong RUSH fan and now a diehard Maidiac!!
Oh wow! That’s amazing!!
On their official channel you can find the Manners - Black Hole combo. Both songs will give you a very complete vision of the use of drums in this band. Akane Hirose is one of the most versatile drummers I have heard in the last 20 years. Good job!. Thank you.
No, they were not “put together by a label.”
Band-Maid are self-made.

Misa (bass) would approve of your love for The Smashing Pumpkins, one of her favourite bands alongside The Pixies. Misa's music of choice is grunge and before Band Maid she played in a band for several years that were likened to The Smashing Pumpkins by one reviewer.

Formation of the band has been written a few times, so I won't repeat it 😁
I will mention there is a documentary series about the group available here on UA-cam: it's on Ohrenje's UA-cam channel. Well worth watching when you want to learn a bit about the band, and I fully recommend watching them! High quality informative and fun.
Be sure to record it so we can watch along with for *even more fun!*
Each is about 30mins and they cover each member individually, with Miku (band founder) getting 3 episodes 😀
The documentary series is great advice!
Five very talented and beautiful young ladies
(Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
These Ladies are so good, that we don't NEED a video to really enjoy all of their music.
..."And history was Maid." -perfect!
The best live rock band on the planet...maybe ever.
You don't just _listen_ to BAND-MAID, you *experience* them.
WoWwww lot of good stuff going on in this video 😮🤗🤘
WELCOME HOME PRINCESS RED. More PRINCESSES More MERRIER😊 & thank you-🕊️🦍👸👀🦶-🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another banger. Love them! I like the unique mix of Japanese and English lyrics too. I remember another Japanese Heavy Metal band from the 80's called Vow Wow who sung in English. I guess it's probably the only way to for a Japanese band to get a foothold with Western audiences.
Data's cat says - give me more Band-Maid !!
lol! Spot loved them
I knew it. I was 99.9% certain that you'd be mind-blown by this performance (judging from your The Warning reactions). And you were -- I don't think I've ever seen a reactor go to such a far away place as you did at about 6:40!
They are absolutely 🔥🔥🔥
Next???
- Daydreaming ( best mid tempo song perhaps )
- Freedom ( great fun and great drum solo )
- Puzzle ( live )
- Hate ( everyone will tell you this one ha )
- only 143 more and every single song is FIRE. Impossible yet true I have no idea how they do it
Hate was Red's first exposure to BAND-MAID, but the audio didn't work, so it wasn't uploaded.
Can you imagine how the concert will be next month with The Warning opening for them in Japan, Tokyo I believe. That is gonna be one loud concert. 😀
They formed in 2013, same year as The Warning.
Red just for yourself check out the short video of Band Maid meeting the Warning at Aftershock festival. It’s pretty cool. 🍺🥴
It is pretty cool. The Warning aren't tall either :)
Great reaction! Love your channel. But you NEED to do Jinger- Pisces . amazing musicians and singer. A reaction channel must!

Congratulations on discovering the best band in the world. Actually I am 55 and 90% of my playlist is Japanese bands. Any song of theirs would be a good pick. And if you are interested there are many other great Japanese bands to check out!
Bandmaid + The Warning? What's not to love 🤘
Yup you’re a Maidiac! 🍺😁
Yes she is :)
@GaryHolloway-810 she meets all the diagnostic criteria. A baby Maidiac.
The accidental magic 🪄 of these specific five ending up together and all the stars ✨ lining up for them to break out into the world 🌎 is part of why they are so loved by the fans. We know how lucky we are. ❤
But what continues to stun me is how each one of our Maids is a genuinely good person.
It’s nice to meet you!”
“Freedom,” official live is in the same musical lane as this one. I would like you to begin to see how versatile they are. Please consider “Daydreaming,” official music video
Thank you for your wonderfully sincere and fun reaction!
The bass player is insane! Not to mention the drummer! 😁
Welcome to the rabbit hole for BANDMAID.😊
And this was like, song # 20 of the night. The band brings it for the whole night!
22nd of 23songs.
I forget who said it, but something like this:
God said, let's make the best band ever.
BAND-MIAD appeared.
Just wait until you find out just how many great songs they have.
Is it 810?
@@GaryHolloway-810 It may be!
@@chrisegbertky 💯
These ladies are the real deal, they have the "IT" factor, no one is quite sure what "IT" is, but they found "IT" somewhere, no doubt in my mind, the best touring ROCK band today
You have discovered the best rock band in the universe!!!!
The first chord you hear is from the previous song called "Play". The Official Live video is also available. Please react to it in the future! :) You will also be absolutely amazed!
Absolutely. "Play" live is a banger!
BAND-MAD Documentary series start from SAIKI. SAIKI->KANAMI->AKANE->MISA->MIKU.
Neither Saiki or Miku is “better”, they just complement each other perfectly. Having Miku singing under Saiki adds real depth to the vocals.
😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
New Album? 🪪😱😰😭😭😭
Actually, Kanami says they have many bad songs. You'll find them in Saiki's wastebasket.
Been waiting for you to react to this wonderful band. Welcome to a new rabbit hole ❤️💪🏼🌹
You would really enjoy Play Live. It was the song right before this at this concert. Major crowd involvement
After Kanami finishes her last blazing solo, Saiki sings, "Our pulses race together." Indeed! Band-Maid. Domination. Nuff said! Thx, Ms Neighbor!
Freedom is the song with the drum solo.
What wonderful girls.❤
Thank you for your reaction! I loved it! Band-Maid produce, write and play their own songs.

There are only two things that make me almost believe that there is a benevolent God - the existence of beer and the miracle known as BAND-MAID, enjoy your B-M journey you will not be disappointed, cheers 👍🍻
Welcome to the best hard rock band in the world for the last 10 years!!!
Magnetic charisma!
Welcome to Maid`s world!
Thanks so much lovely comments!
Welcome to Band Maid world princess
When people ask me why I watch Band-Maid reactions it's for the look they give. Exactly like the one at 7:05 😀
It's time for a music video and "Choose Me" is the next choice. It has become a classic.
Love the Data and Spot shirt.
The Gods of Rock & Roll put them together, with a little help from a pigeon.......
"I wasn't ready for that!" seems to be a common theme with Band-Maid. ❤
Always makes me smile when Miku falls on her butt after her little duel with Kanami, but she is known to be accident prone
Yes she fell on her butt….but she jumped right up snd kept going….thats one tough little pigeon!
@@fernandoNovo59 seeing her little pigeon head pop up in the bottom of akanes kit always make me smile , yep that's our pigeon
And the Pigeon never misses a beat, Po!
Freedom is the drum one!
Welcome back, fellow ginger, Po! 🕊
This was the one that I recommended you watch first, as it was the one that got me hooked. I see it got you too....even though you already kinda knew what to expect. 😀
Watch the bassist (MISA)'s fingers when she's playing the solo... she plays first with the pick, then tucks it up out of the way with her finger to play some 'slap bass' then switches back to the pick....all so smoothly that it is so easy to miss.
"Freedom" (live) would probably be a good place to go next but you really can't go wrong with anything from their official channel. The live stuff does tend to have extra solos etc.
(I have another recommendation for you to check out - Babymetal & Electric Callboy "Ratatata".)
The song Freedom has a drum solo.
The song Hate? has a rather nice drumming.
Generally Akane do do a rather good drumming.
edit: Akane :)
@@swiftbird_studio he he - a typo - I fix it!
Hi Bluey Red my Sunshine 🌞 friend❤❤❤❤
🥰
The Best Band in the World!! Keep listening !!
They are absolutely NOT a studio band- they made themselves, the image is their idea, the music is wrote and performed by them - they are all amazing musicians :)
p.s They are older than you probably think! They were in their early to mid 20s when formed but by the time of this performance they are 25-28ish? And by now, even the youngest of them is 30.
❤👌BAND-MAID / Play (Official Live Video) BAND-MAID / FREEDOM (Official Live Video)
All the Maids are awesome but drummer Akane in "Freedom" is the Gorilla unleashed. She must've been born holding drumsticks. 🤔I bet that was painful for her mum. Ouch!!
🍺🙄
🥁
I believe Akane was actually born holding thunderbolts, which she now summons from her heavy, custom- made drumsticks.
I am her loyal banana. ❤🦍
@@donaldgraham6414 Aaaargh! Think of your skin.😯
"Freedom" will be the one recommended for drums (for a very specific reason) although lots of examples of great drumming.
Still think you should try "Endless Story" from latest concert.
Organic origins - for Documentary (I keep getting comments blocked) look at ua-cam.com/video/8IvcvAafH3w/v-deo.html
then do Kanami's Akane's Misa's then Miku's 3-parter
Having grown up in the 80's (the Golden Age of Rock/Metal, I can attest these women would more than hold their own against the Legends of Rock/Metal.
Don't You Tell Me live at Yokohama Arena, their own show/
Freedom. The song you are looking for is Freedom. Hate? is also a good pick.
You’ve just been BAND-MAID! Welcome to your favorite band of all time.
the band was formed by the girls. It came from Miku's idea based off of the Japanese Maid Cafes
The maid cafes are bizarrely C U T E !!! Your teeth will rot before you get out the door.
ua-cam.com/video/zV5Lx1c0MWs/v-deo.htmlsi=yePss9Y3NYQ0TaJJ
LOL I think this is considered mid-temp for them now!
These women would love to see you at one of their concerts, I'm certain of it
Welcome back to the BandMaid experience. The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts:
•Bass solos are more likely to happen than not
•Guitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be
•Unless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
•Genre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre!
•You like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that.
•April Fools Day 2019
As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect.
Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yrs)
•There is no "I" in BANDMAID.
There are also many Japanese all-female metal bands, such as:

They done it the right way.
Yes, this was for a long time the number one song for Band Maid beginners 😀Currently it seems to be "Hate?" but I love this one much more
But what a nice reaction 🤩 In this video no one needs audio 🤣 A look into your face and everyone knows that you are becoming a Maidiac. I hope so because we get more Band Maid from your channel. I definitely subscribed.
You asked for drums? You can get some ... in every song of course ... but you need "Freedom" (Live) 🙂
That's the next song for you! 😀 Its a performance of much joy and ... DRUMs, po 🕊 😀
Oh wait. Maybe "Moratorium" (Live at Zepp Tokyo) is exactly your thing ... 😲 oh girl ... why is it so difficult to recommend just one single song? Other songs that come into my mind: "Manners, Blackhole", "Daydreaming" (MV), "From now on" (MV), Play (Live), Real Existence (Live), Dice (MV), Bestie (MV, their latest song), Onset (Live), About us (Live), Corallium (Live), Endless Story (Live), .... so many more 😍
By the way: The Smashing Pumpkins (as well as Paz Lenchantin) are a great influence for bassist "Misa". And The Warning is playing a concert together with Band Maid in Japan (in June I think).
Don’t sleep on “Moratorium!” ❤ They just released the Hong Kong spinoff show and “Moratorium” was played!!
Можно смело брать любую песню у этой группы и слушать. Daydreaming, Bestie, Influencer, Freedom, Thrill, on set, или буквально любую другую :) Есть ещё акустические версии некоторых песен - они тоже звучат потрясающе.
Akane the drummer is a big fan of the Smashing Pumpkins! Excellent reaction. The smile and excitement on your face was priceless!
Each day one of them is my muse
U need to hear the band founder take a lead vocal. By the way, band maid invited the warning to do a joint show with them in japan next month. Members have followed each other on social media for awhile. There is a youtube vid of them meeting at the aftershock festival in 2022

Even DATA is shocked by *BAND-MAID* 🤖 😊
In the beginning there was a small pigeon 🐦 who met a guitarist 🎸 who played with a drummer 🥁 who went to school with the bassist 🎸 and then tricked the singer 🎤 to join the band then the small pigeon 🐦 asks the guitarist 🎸 please teach me how to play the guitar 🎸. The Story Continues.
There you go! 🍺😁
That and a lot more can be learned in school with teacher "Ohrenje": Some songs later (I recommend to watch/listen to at least 5 more songs) you must watch his documentaries!
