That word is waaaay over used. He's not a hero. He didn't run into a burning building risking his own life to save another. What he is is a normal decent human being. Anyone else passing by who also heard that woman yelling for help over the last 5 days, but did nothing to help, is not a normal decent human being. We need to stop raising people to the level of heroism for just doing normal things. Then, maybe more people would behave like normal decent human beings which doesn't require an act of heroism, like in this case. It took an easy to make single phone call. That's all.

@@alexengelke8872 If we had direction and resources people would voluntarily participate in neighborhood watch and perform routine patrols of abandoned property. Even door to door wellness checks. Actually get to know the people in your neighborhood.
Soliciting and door to door sales seemingly ruined the essential practice of door to door canvassing for community support in person.
The red flags and things to look for in human trafficking need to be more well understood. The truth exists in obscure documentaries and witness accounts but the majority of people do not know what to look for or what to do. There needs to be community outreach and education.
In some ways providing people with a sense of purpose may help to prevent the desperation that leads to these acts of depravity.
It's sad they can mobilize forces against people expressing free speech in protest but not in a pro-active and constructive way.

I knocked on the door banged on the door and the lady came to the door would not open the door and told me just to hide underneath her car. Most people are suspicious no matter what you're doing they think you're up to no good they think somehow you're at fault if something happens to you that you put yourself in a position to be harmed or put yourself in a vulnerable position when that's not always the case. Thank you to this man doing the right thing. Thank you for taking action in your neighborhood.
I get it's a huge task but the community needs to get together and clean up around the abandoned homes. Check up on the homes to make sure they are secure. The city can find out who owns the homes and require they pay a maintenance fee to help subsidize the supplues the community needs for the work being done.

If the victim knew her abductor, that menas the police should know who he is. Why can't the media release his name and picture so the public can be on the lookout to help find him and get him off the streets? I doubt this is the first time this creep has done something like this to innocent women and girls.

Antoine is such a LIFESAVER! I'm a victim of rape myself and can't even imagine how severe the woman's ptsd is by being held of her will by that sick man! Makes me so concerned for both men & women that are in the exact position as the woman's position in deserted rural regions in Detroit, Gary, & even Chicago when it comes to abandoned homes considering how there are a lack of police force being on the lookout. Who knows what that man would've done to her as he could possibly kill her as Antoine arrived on time to save before it was too late!
