$140 is a big ask for what amounts to barebones-featured action figures, a solid Batmobile, and some cardboard. Even with the least amount of effort to mold the computers and some framing for the Batcave, this could have been a slam dunk.

Good to see you again. I was just wondering the other day when looking at my Subscriptions when you were going to post.. I do love your brutally honest reviews. Mezco "5 Points" is their line of 5 POA figure sets. As of right now, I have seen 3 Godzilla 5 POA sets. I am interested in them, but they are expensive.
P.S. I do love cardboard, but not at that price!

I understand what you are saying. I got mine only for the 3.75in figures. I don’t need them to do much. Then I put them in the McFarlane batcave which scales better… then added my 1/18 Hot Wheels Batmobile and 1/18 Batcycle… and of course Funckos 3.75in batgirl. It took a lot of companies but it’s nice all together. Just my 2 cents
Great review Dean! I had this in my BBTS basket but hesitated and didn't buy. I do like the figures and the Batmobile, but I agree that the price is set too high, so I am glad that your review put my mind at ease over not buying the set.
I haven't assembled my batcave yet, but I love this set and think it's well worth the price! Have you seen the Fleischer Superman set they are making? Looks nice!! I also have the Mezco figures and Batmobile. Good stuff!! Have you seen the new ReAction figures in Target lately? They look like garbage and are now $18 each. These figures are nicer and come with a boatload of gadgets. Just going by the reaction pricepoint, these figures in the set would almost justify the $140 price point. Then you get the Batmobile as well. Yes, the cardboard Batcave is kind of crappy, but it's still a nice set overall.
My thoughts exactly. The Batcave and Wayne Manor diorama was clearly an afterthought and with current price points on figures of this sort from Super 7, the price is dead on.
I understand the criticisms of this set. I still plan on getting this for the figures alone. It’s great to have a nice set right out of the gate here.

Hard pass and easy pass mean the same thing, right? Genuine question as they're not terms use where I live.
@@theflyingninja1 yeah same thing. I guess hard pass is technically the better term but I'm from the UK so I tend to say easy pass. Hard pass is more of a US term.

Brutally honest review which is appreciated. Very detailed description which is the only one out there I know of. Have the McFarlane batcave which seems way better. Any chance of giving the measurements on the completed batcave? Thanks much.

The rubber capes remind me of the Mego pocket heroes from the 70’s. And I was a bit surprised by the scale. For 3 3/4 they are smaller than Star Wars and GI Joe.

Great review, and I have to say, Mezco really dropped the ball on this. I'll stick with the McFarlane set. The Batmobile is out of scale, but the quality is much higher.

Keep in mind though 7 ReAction style figures is already $140
And Mezcos plastic quality is at least equal to if not better than super7

I'm so glad I watched your review, I was thinking if I should buy this or not and now I'm pretty sure I won't. It's not that good, qualtity/price speaking.
I agree with all of this. I bought the set for the Batmobile, but I was left a little disappointed because I didn't like the matt finish (needs to be shiny for me!). I think I might have felt better about the price point if it included a Batgirl and her Batcycle. I've seen some people merge this set with the McFarlane dio set for a more impressive display...
I've still got pre-orders that's been delayed since late September from bbts!
Not a batman fan but I when I saw the fleischer superman 5 points set I jumped on it. Hope it's not as bad as this. Though the set peices of that set appear to be mostly plastic.
I was fortunate to be able to purchase just this Batmobile model on its own for £40

The Mezco Batmobile and figures sold separately would be a great match proportion wise with the McFarlane Batcave. The McF figures are a bit too big for the cave, and the Mezco seem more to scale.
Whenever I peel the frosting off of a Zinger snack cake I think of rubber capes on action figures.
I just get mine and I thought it was a 9 outta 10. The figures scale ok with ReAction and Marvel 375 (not perfect, but ok). The figures and Batmobile are really good. I hope Mezco does more figures.
The figures and the Batmobile are fantastic, but the cardboard elements are absolute junk.

The quality of the cave seems noticably less than the cardboard and vinyl playsets I use to get as a kid back in the 70s, surprisingly.

Great review. I think if you can get this set for $99, it’s worth it. The cave looks good, but not the cardboard computers; they should have been plastic. When you had it all set up - from far away - it looked great!

Respect the opinion 👊 I bought this...I think it was worth the price. It looks like it was meant to display not rough house with. ...as a buyer I agree 70 bucks. As a company this looks like there was alot effort and love put in the set, making the sculpts the cape the backdrops the car and having a second headsculpt along with accessories. I think it's worth a buy. Compared this to haslab if you disagree or any other set that comes close to the details... On the downsize it's very flimsy and fragile which sucks but again it's meant to display it seems not for roughhousing. I bought it and feel it's worth a buy especially if your a fan of 66 Batman. Hold off and watch this thing jump to 500 from scalpers...and then yes it be a total ripoff.

One side of the base on mine didn't even have the velcro. I had to use white tack. I agree about this set, it's shit for the price.

@@AllThings80s I won't say it sucks - I've too long wanted figures based on the Fleischer cartoons, and the figures themselves are pretty good, even if Lois is fragile and refuses to stay on her figure stand. But 79.99? Uh-uh. Again, if it weren't absolutely unique, I might consider a return. Also, I was somehow expecting more than one mechanical monster.

Awesome honest review, that simply acknowledges that this Mezco Batman '66 is a massive disappointment.
After the incompetence of the Batman '66 toyline from the moron McFarlane, you would think that Mezco would ensure that their toyline would be an improvement.
Sadly, this is not the case. The figures look very poor quality and the Batcave / Wayne Manor cardboard sets are just recyclable rubbish.
The only good thing is the Batmobile, but with paint issues, even that is a " could do better! "
And the price tag is just an expensive joke.
I ordered mine on pre order , quality control with my batmobile missing its headlights just an open hole, still the figs and batmobile are displayed but the cardboard batcave was not worth the $$$
Yes, the Batcave is absolutely terrible.
i mean if they sold each fig separated they would be atleast 15 to 20 each for the accessories the car would most likely be atleast 50 by itself with no figs the cardboard is def just a freebie add on. even with just that your looking at around 150. idk i dont think its that bad of a deal when you look at what theyd sell it all by itself.
The figures are ten bucks at most and the Batmobile would not sell for more than $35.
@@AllThings80s I disagree I think they would sell them individually for way more. I agree they are barely 10 dollar figs! But look at reaction line they are around 18 with hardly any accessories. Mezco could easily charge more for them if sold separately. Same for the car. It's 25 to 35 sure but they'd charge more if they sold it by itself.

To be fair,
ReAction style figures average $20 apiece. Times 7 figures is already $140
Plus you get a comparable batmobile (that McFarlane sells for $30)
That’s excluding a shitty retro style paper Playset set
So price wise is actually quite decent,
but the quality of the Playset really pulls down the overall value
Can anybody tell me is this batmobile larger than the hot wheels one because that is undersized for 1/18 and I'm after a proper 1/18 to go with my Lincoln Futura by minichamps

A set that looking at the quality of it I would say is worth 35. To 40. Dollars
McFarlane's cost about $30 and has folding plastic rockface and computers. Charging over $100 for a downscaled Mego playset from the 70s is terrible!

Late to this video, but I definitely regret purchasing it as well. I couldn't stop myself as it was '66 Batman at 3 3/4" and I really wanted to add those figures that Funko never made. However, in hindsight I should've just waited and hunted them loose on eBay. Oh well, can't win 'em all and Mezco definitely lost me as a pre-order customer to anything this "deluxe" sized ever again.
The figures and the Batmobile are great and the cardboard elements are such a letdown. I've no idea what they were thinking.
Also McFarlane Batcave scales better to these as well
$140 for a batcave that looks like one of those cheap ass toys you’d get with a kids meal. I also don’t understand why The Joker didn’t get a masked head since he wore one in the movie. I think $75 was a fair appraisal for the whole package. For a. $140 they should’ve either added more figures or provided a better Batcave diorama

I completely agree this is shite. I have this set in my Pile of Loot from Big Bad Toy Store. Worth it for the figures and Batmobile but certainly not worth $140. I’m not even going to bother assembling that joke of a cardboard playset I’ll just be using the McFarlane one.
swap the Alfred head with Bruce Wayne and you can have a good Wayne figure.

A great review but I have to disagree somewhat. The tooling cost for the car, figures and fantastic array of accessories is very expensive and Mezco could have cut corners here but didn't. With this set you get pretty much close to every character. It's wonderful.
Also, I can imagine the cost of the car alone on eBay in the near future going for somewhere in the region of £60 and each figure alone £30 thereabouts if not more.
If the diorama had been made of plastic then it wouldn't feel 60's, it would feel 80's or later. Mezco have achieved a set that feels as though it is from the 1960's and this includes the amazing packaging too.
I feel that I got mine at a decent price and would definitely say to someone who is considering buying this set to do so, it's a big chunk of retro!
I don't have enough space to display mine, I have to be honest, but I'm happy to know that I've got it, it's beautiful.
I appreciate your vids a lot though because I'd rather someone be honest, wether I agree with them or not. 👍

Wow! What a disappointment! I’m sorry you waited so long just to be let down. I’ve never been a fan of cardboard play sets. Not worth $140. Plus the eyes and faces on the figures are underwhelming. the figures and batmobile look amazing. the proportions are realistic instead of the usual hyperrealistic style we see nowadays.
sadly, the packaging/"diorama" is horrible. it looks like bad 90's computer generated art made by somebody not familiar with either the show or the era.

this really is a bummer. I was hoping this set would have gone the classic retro cardboard covered in polyvinyl like the old MEGO sets to at least provide some kind of value to it. This is a 90 dollar set at most and even that is pushing. I ordered the Superman Fleischer set and that was only because there is far too few pieces of merchandise featuring this adaptation of the character and that one has at least a plastic phone booth for Clark to change to Superman.
