Thank you! This was VERY helpful. I played my first solo game and I was taking a Xeno phase every time I flipped the Alien card and then I took the Alien card OUT of my deck when I flipped from 9 to 1 on the tracker, thus thinking the game was over and I lost. I think going back and forth between 4 individual rule books threw me off as well. The pdf on the website is just one file listed as 10 pages in order, so that may help. Either way, this video was PERFECT for me!
Wow those must have been some brutal games. I am happy to hear my video helped you understand the rules better. The four different books is a cool idea, but makes it hard for one person to learn them that way. What do you think of the game now?
Haha yeah it was brutal! Needless to say I didn't last long. It's much better now! I don't want to say too easy, but I guess it depends on the draw of the motion tracker. I'm really enjoying it though!
I'm late to your channel, but I like your style. You mentioned that you'd put up a link for the Crystal Fortress Pod Set (CFPS, but I haven't been able to locate it. Are they still available? Anyhow, good video!
Good video! Question; how many times in a game with 2 chars would you end up shuffling that phase deck? That deck seems quite thin and likely you would have to reshuffle it a lot. So that makes me wonder about those cards: do you feel they would last or should they be sleeved? I’d also be tempted to solo this using 3 or 4 chars, just so I wouldnt have to reshuffle such a thin deck so often. Thanks for a well done video!
Hat great video glad I watches it to the end one of the questions I had you did in the last few turns, but like to double check it if no alien in your tile but one adjacent to it you can shoot it if no barrier right? Other is when you pick up a mission token you can use it stright away if card allows you to, you don't have to get all three of them or even all 9 right?
Thanks for watching and for the questions. So for your first question you are correct you can also do this if aliens are in your tile you just need to target each of them first and if you have any remaining firepower you can use it on aliens in adjacent tiles. For your second question as long as you follow the rules on when the mission card states it can be used yes you can use it when you get it and don't have to wait till a card has all three or once all 3 cards are full.
Isn't it suppose to be the point man that takes the hits first, or is that just in the spawn phase? At least that's how I read it upon getting this for Christmas. My dad, brother and I decided to give it a go but between time constraints of the day and how you have to bounce between the different dossiers for rules we decided to hold off until I watched to video tutorials. Keep up the good work though!
Thanks for watching and posting. So with your question it is only during the spawn phase that the point man has to take the hits first otherwise it will be the marine that attacks and rolls a bite that takes a hit or if you used multiple marines than you choose who takes a hit. This video was watched and approved by the games designer so everything in it is correct. I will also add a link in the videos description to an updated condensed rule book if you are having a hard time with the dossiers.
I think it would be good as there are a good number of components that change each game like the heroes players get, the missions selected and tile layout and the spawn cards. Plus you can up the difficulty once you feel it is to easy by adding additional alien cards.
I hear you, I still do most of my gaming and play testing alone, but it does have its up sides you know the games much better by the time to do get together to play with others and there are a good number of games out and coming out that have great solo rules now.

Very helpful. The setup across 4 rule books was confusing. This is a great video.

@@LearntoPlayGames ok, that makes sense now. Thanks! And I'll definitely check that link out.
Have you tried gale force 9 new aliens game?
Not yet I will once I get through a couple of their other titles. We have already talked about it and I will be getting it soon.
I like this game , but how is the replay ?

Really? There's a 1-player mode?
Sounds like my kinda board game
