Pls do the expansions. My boys and I have restarted the game 2 times now, keep finding things we did wrong. This video pointed out a few errors we missed. Looking forward to starting Mission 1, yet again, but playing the game correctly. Great job!
I really wish the miniatures came out as one piece and larger. I’m a carpenter with large hands. Assembling ING this almost drove me back into the bottle.

Great video! You explain everything very well. My first time playing story: playing solo, found Newt, failed roll, she ran, Ripley ran after her, subsequently encountered an alien, failed attack, failed defense roll and got instantly killed, other units were just out of range to help Newt when she got cornered :( Kinda sucked for a first game but looking forward to playing it again with friends soon

Very good video. Bought the game, read the instructions and built the board with the bells and whistles and I think I got an okay-ish grasp of the game. But watching this video I have to say it really put all those rules into clear context and gave me that extra confidence for my first session.

Great how to play video. Lighting, pace, sound 👍 Long time since I played this game and needed to re-fresh the basics. This video was on point. Even if I had never played it this video is the best one out there to learn.
Great video. Really clear instructions and your examples demonstrated most of the key situations players can find themselves in. One thing the rulebook is really unclear on is what happens when an alien blip is spotted on the characters' turn. I wish we had watched your video properly before playing - we had the aliens being spotted, resolving into swarms, moving up the six spaces and attacking, which was a little difficult!
When you spot it on a players turn you will flip the token and replace it with the alien model and any tokens based on the number on the bottom of the token.
Awesome video. My son just got it for his birthday. We.played a few says later (sorry but I had to paint the marines, justbdid not look right lol). We did a bug hunt first and are currently getting our asses kicked lol. Watched the video to clarify a few things.
Finally! Hugh Aliens fan but Learn to Play also! Game is not perfect but i like to jump into skirmish and get some a** kicked. Great video and good to have some second hand rules clarification. Thanks !! As always great job!

I would say just from looking at it the Get away from her you B***h expansion adds a good amount of content so if anything that one would be the one I would get.
I knew I was doing the reveal wrong - awesome stuff. 1 question: if you're playing solo do you ONLY choose one player character, the rest being grunts or can you choose multiple playable characters? I realise there's nothing to stop you either way, but it'd be nice to know. Thanks a million!
Very helpful video on a somewhat confusing minis game when blips are spotted and become the Alien swarms that might then move and attack or just attack so I have to ask @39:50 the spotted Blip is now an Alien next to Hudson so doesn’t it attack Hudson? which constitues Defensive Fire then if the Alien isn’t killed you roll for Defense value (outcomes are Kill Alien, knocked down, 10 is a kill) & Melee value just like Hick’s being attacked during the Alien phase @32:25? In other words the Alien Phase Step 3 Motion Tracker becomes Step 2 Spotting Blips then becomes Step 1 Defensive Fire/Aliens attacks roll Defense? It's almost like a flow chart is needed. I've played solo so it can get confusing.
Amazing video and great explanations! I just opened mine up and am excited to learn and play this game for months on end. However... Unless I'm missing something, you have to glue all the mini's together?? Is that how most quest board games are? I am a little bummed that the characters aren't already assembled, not to mention are not painted/colored like advertised on the front of each game/expansion box...
Thanks so much;) Most games are preassembled this is one of the few you will need to assemble before playing. As far as painted models those are very hard to come by. For example if the minis in the core game were painted to the level that is shown the game would cost between $500 to $1000. Hope you have fun with the game;)

Do you have to pay the exhaust cost for cards when equipping them at the start of the mission? If not, it makes sense to fully equip every character to avoid paying the future cost of like 3 per weapon etc. Sorry if it's an obvs question, but the rule book doesn't specifically state.
Hi, great video. Should have watched this one before playing :) I am planning on making a dutch video... Just to be sure at 32:30 I'm pretty sure Vasquez and Ripley have line of sight on the alien, measuring from the top corner of their space. If not, where do I think wrong?)

If a character rolls a 10 on a defensive roll but they have body armor, does it still protect them? Or do they still die as a result? I don't think I see it explicitly mentioned in the rules.

This is one I was wondering myself as I could not find any cards in the base game that referred to this phase and I skimmed through the expansions I have as well and didn't see any cards there either so maybe there were cards that would have that effect or maybe another expansion that has not come out yet will have them in it.

First off great video! It’s really helped me but I have a question. Let’s say I have an alien swam next to a charter with 3 tokens making 4 Aliens. Do I roll a dice for each Alien. In this case 4. And then say I hit 3 and miss one. That leave one alien. That one Alien then. Attacks. Or. Do I roll one dice at a time. So I hit the first. Hit the second. And then miss and stop any more defensive fire actions and then the remain two Aliens in the swarm attack?

With defensive fire you would make an attack with the character that is closest to the alien swarm and if it hits and if you have a weapon with rapid fire like the pulse rifle you can continue to attack until you miss or decide to stop. If there are other characters within 4 spaces they can also take defensive fire actions against the alien swarm. Hope this helps.
Hi, great video, thanks! However, at 11:26 you mention that you're going to want to have the tunnel tokens ready but I don't think you ever mention how or when to use them? Are they for later missions or are they linked to the motion tracker cards somehow?

Question when using equipment for a defensive re-roll: do you discard it or does it stay equipped on said character (unless you draw the matching card type to then force the exhaust)? Thanks!
I’m asking just because of reasons when there are multiple aliens next to one or more character/ adjacent to them do you add for the maximum amount of swarm tokens adjacent to them
He answers this in the video. If it's barricaded you roll the alien die, if you get a 4, 5, or 6 it breaks the barricade and spawns as normal, if the roll is 1, 2, or 3 the spawn doesn't take place.
Could you please make a video incorporating the expansions? Also do you know if you can use the hive hazards normally, in the endurance deck, or is it only specific to the hive. I am looking to add acid blood and facehugger hazards but there’s nothing stating how to use them in the base game. Thank you.
One thing we found the rulebook to be unclear on is how grunts work. We had four human players. Each human was given a random character. We then each took one "grunt". This seemed fair to us, but reading the rules suggests we did this wrong. It seemed that the marine ranks somehow came into it. We inferred that no-one could play Ripley because she wasn't a marine and therefore couldn't have a grunt of her own to command, but if her marine was killed her card would be flipped... It was all a bit of a mess, anyway.
I just got this game along with the expansions. Quick question- is there a set number of characters you start with? I know you can play multiple heroes, but how many total, including grunts?
There is a motion tracker ‘they are in the ceiling’ card that relates to tunnels the text says put this tunnel in the space next to this character which character is it the character that the person is playing as or the character who’s picture is on the card or if your playing as multiple heroes can you simply chose which character the tunnel goes under? Any help would be hugely appreciated
Following on for that question. Let’s say I have a character in line of sight. Would they also attack. So in my example I miss one alien but before the alien attacks my other character with line of sight also gets to fire a defensive roll before the first (and character next to the alien) is attacked.
I find the LOS with game kinda messy. I play is as the following. LOS is center to center and if it crosses blocking terrain it is blocked. If it crosses terrain that does completely block then a +1 is added to a direct fire weapon. Aliens do block LOS to other Aliens or blips if more than 1 model. The only reason LOS is blocked from a charter is simply you do not want to hit them in the line of fire BUT you can see through them but not fire through them.
Quick question: that clear little compartment box you have for those small cards, did you make that yourself, or did it come with the game? I did not receive anything like that with mine. Is it important to arrange them like that?
I know I’m late to this, but, here’s to hoping I can get a question answered. At 44:07, what happens if he succeeds his defense roll, but fails the melee? Does the marine just stand next to the alien until the next round?
Where did you get the black center pieces for the aim dials? My game didn't come with those and I was wondering what the reason was. Or if anyone else can provide what they're using for their pieces, I'd appreciate it!!
Can you continue the remaining movement after performing an action? For example, can i move one space, barricade, and then continue the rest of my movement. I cant find this info anywhere
I believe that you must complete an action before taking another one. So once you stop moving to take an barricade action your move action is over and you would lose any remaining movement you did not spend. I will see if I can find out for sure on this. Thanks for watching and for the question.

Good video but I have a question : in the rules it said that a hero is affected to a player. So for one player game it should be only one hero 😉👍🏻
Thanks for watching and for the question. So with this game you can do that and have each player play one hero or you can also play multiple heroes as well. I normally will play solo and control 3 or 4 heroes. Just depends on how you want to do it;)

I would most likely.Whether.When hicks.She has the ability that you can take 1 card into your hand.They can take cards into your hand.All the characters.I mean.Only who plays the hero?Maybe ripley doesn't have the ability at all.that would she should have taken it into her hand. But at the same time I saw in a few videos that she took the card into her hand. It refers to step 3. for example, drake can take the card into her hand. Or maybe apone or frost don't have those abilities take the card in your hand
The only difference is if you are playing a campaign. In campaign mode if a character is killed it can't be used for the rest of your campaign. Where as if a character is captured you can play a rescue mission to save them and play them in later missions. Hope this helps;) Thanks for watching and for the question.
While I'm happy to watch a 44 min video, it can be difficult for some players to make that time commitment. Any ideas on how I can approach teaching players looking for a 10-min explanation or who would like to learn while playing? Thank you. I'm not looking on any feedback similar to "find better people to play with".
I tried but failed miserably. Found it way to hard to put even the simplest of pieces together. Newt took me nearly and hour and it looks like she's sticking her fingers in her mouth rather than saluting. Managed to glue anything that wasn't a marine or an alien to everything else, includng most of my fingers together. Would not recommend. Why can't we buy them pre-assembled? Ugh!
Sorry you had such a hard time with assembling it, that just sounds miserable. I am an old Warhammer player so I am used to assembling minis and it does take time to master. I hope you are able to get them together at some point because this is a great game and worth the time.
If I have five or even six people playing would that mean we'd all be playing on our hero sides? I'm sure no one wants to play their character a grunt.

Which ever dev designed the moulding for the tails, deserves a jolly good spanking. Apart from that the game and sculpts are nice and straightforward

Question when using equipment for a defensive re-roll: do you discard it or does it stay equipped on said character (unless you draw the matching card type to then force the exhaust)?

I’m asking just because of reasons when there are multiple aliens next to one or more character/ adjacent to them do you add for the maximum amount of swarm tokens adjacent to them

Thanks for the video sir! One question though. If a tunnel or spawnpoint is barricaded, can aliens be able to respawn there?
He answers this in the video. If it's barricaded you roll the alien die, if you get a 4, 5, or 6 it breaks the barricade and spawns as normal, if the roll is 1, 2, or 3 the spawn doesn't take place.

One thing we found the rulebook to be unclear on is how grunts work. We had four human players. Each human was given a random character. We then each took one "grunt". This seemed fair to us, but reading the rules suggests we did this wrong. It seemed that the marine ranks somehow came into it. We inferred that no-one could play Ripley because she wasn't a marine and therefore couldn't have a grunt of her own to command, but if her marine was killed her card would be flipped...
It was all a bit of a mess, anyway.

I just got this game along with the expansions. Quick question- is there a set number of characters you start with? I know you can play multiple heroes, but how many total, including grunts?

There is a motion tracker ‘they are in the ceiling’ card that relates to tunnels the text says put this tunnel in the space next to this character which character is it the character that the person is playing as or the character who’s picture is on the card or if your playing as multiple heroes can you simply chose which character the tunnel goes under? Any help would be hugely appreciated

Let’s say I have a character in line of sight. Would they also attack.
So in my example I miss one alien but before the alien attacks my other character with line of sight also gets to fire a defensive roll before the first (and character next to the alien) is attacked.
only if that character is within 4 spaces of the alien swarm. If it is than yes that character can also make a defensive fire attack.
I find the LOS with game kinda messy. I play is as the following. LOS is center to center and if it crosses blocking terrain it is blocked. If it crosses terrain that does completely block then a +1 is added to a direct fire weapon. Aliens do block LOS to other Aliens or blips if more than 1 model. The only reason LOS is blocked from a charter is simply you do not want to hit them in the line of fire BUT you can see through them but not fire through them.
I meant a character i.e. marine or Civilians.
I agree the LOS rules are a little tricky. Thanks for sharing your house rules it is always cool to see what others come up with;)

No that is called a pod and you can get them from crystal fortress.
I know I’m late to this, but, here’s to hoping I can get a question answered. At 44:07, what happens if he succeeds his defense roll, but fails the melee? Does the marine just stand next to the alien until the next round?
Yes, that marine will stay there until it is his turn to activate again.

Can you continue the remaining movement after performing an action? For example, can i move one space, barricade, and then continue the rest of my movement. I cant find this info anywhere
I believe that you must complete an action before taking another one. So once you stop moving to take an barricade action your move action is over and you would lose any remaining movement you did not spend. I will see if I can find out for sure on this. Thanks for watching and for the question.
Good video but I have a question : in the rules it said that a hero is affected to a player. So for one player game it should be only one hero 😉👍🏻
Thanks for watching and for the question. So with this game you can do that and have each player play one hero or you can also play multiple heroes as well. I normally will play solo and control 3 or 4 heroes. Just depends on how you want to do it;)

I would most likely.Whether.When hicks.She has the ability that you can take 1 card into your hand.They can take cards into your hand.All the characters.I mean.Only who plays the hero?Maybe ripley doesn't have the ability at all.that would she should have taken it into her hand. But at the same time I saw in a few videos that she took the card into her hand. It refers to step 3. for example, drake can take the card into her hand. Or maybe apone or frost don't have those abilities take the card in your hand

What's the difference between a marine being captured vs killed?
The only difference is if you are playing a campaign. In campaign mode if a character is killed it can't be used for the rest of your campaign. Where as if a character is captured you can play a rescue mission to save them and play them in later missions. Hope this helps;) Thanks for watching and for the question.

I tried but failed miserably. Found it way to hard to put even the simplest of pieces together. Newt took me nearly and hour and it looks like she's sticking her fingers in her mouth rather than saluting. Managed to glue anything that wasn't a marine or an alien to everything else, includng most of my fingers together. Would not recommend. Why can't we buy them pre-assembled? Ugh!
Sorry you had such a hard time with assembling it, that just sounds miserable. I am an old Warhammer player so I am used to assembling minis and it does take time to master. I hope you are able to get them together at some point because this is a great game and worth the time.
