    Feeder Fishing From The Beach!
    After the success of our last video, where we tried to catch some fish from the beach using the lightest tackle possible, it got us thinking what other idea’s could we try, what else could we experiment with…
    Now it’s no secret that the winter fishing around our coast line has been very poor so far this season, so rather than fish for the larger species that in truth really aren’t there, why not have some fun with the smaller species… so that exactly what we decided to do!
    For this latest episode we took the camera’s down to Kessingland on the Suffolk coast, to try and catch a few fish from the beach using a ground bait feeder!
    Now we’ve never used a feeder from the shore before and it’s something that isn’t really practiced, so we didn’t know what to expect, would it work? Would we catch some fish using it?
    To find out exactly how we got on watch this latest instalment, from the waters edge.
    As usual we hope you enjoy it and any feedback is always much appreciated.

    Well done Chris. I first tried fishing the feeder a few years back, at Aldeburgh. First chuck with a 5oz Korum feeder, & it hit the deck, bounced once, settled. Lovely. Gave it the regulation 10 minutes (I was fishing a match), & went to drag in another triple shot of pin 'tings..... Errrr, nope. Snagged solid. At £2.50+ a pop for the feeder, it was back on the grip leads for me! I've since refined the method, mounting Drennan Carp feeders on lengths of 1.6mm 316 grade welding rod. You can use those with grip leads, & the crabs love it!

    Great fun!
    Here in the US it's not always common to get feeders, I've used plastic whiffle balls cut open hooked on a weight clip.

    Hi, thanks for a great video, it's always good to see someone thinking outside the box and hopefully, this will help others use homemade or bought inline feeders to bring extra smell to your end tackle. it's by no means a new idea as people for years have been trying all sorts of ways to entice fish to feed by a rubby dubby bags with shark and ray fishing from boats. The Irish ladies boat sea fishing champion used a giant homemade swim feeder which brought her top results 25 years ago in the match scene. Most sea fish must feed primarily by smell so why is this not more commonly used. I use a 35mm film canister with holes drilled in and looped grip wire through the middle inline with your lead does the trick. you can freeze home made fish, squid, mussel and shore crab cart down and top up the canister each time you rebait. I also inject my baits prior casting....like you do to fish baits for pike fishing...it works for me everytime...

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  3 роки тому

      Interesting stuff Vinny! It's definitely something I'd try again and I think it must have more mileage being used from the shore, on your standard beach.

  • @DaiHGowerWales
    @DaiHGowerWales 4 місяці тому

    Great experiment. Im amazed nobody has yet produced a lead impact weight which has a small cage into which you could put a piece of sponge the size of a dice soaked in fish sauce or fish oil or whatever crabby fishy additive scent you might have.
    Each cast you could simply re dip the weight and sponge cage into the juice b4 casting.

    Good vid! Did you try one rod with the feeder and one without to see if there was a notable difference in catch rates? Also, to hold bottom better, perhaps a feeder breakaway wires? Not sue if anyone makes them?

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  7 років тому +2

      Cheers Paul, glad you enjoyed it! A feeder with breakaway wires would definitely help. Unfortunately I didn't compare catch rates, although it did get me thinking. Perhaps next time we could try it... normal set-up versus the feeder! :-)

    Firstly thankyou for the great videos. I'm currently a course angler with the intensions of trying sea fishing and i had wonderd weather there was a sea fishing equiverlant to "feeder" fishing. An idea i had was a block end maggot feeder, remove the weight and then use it "inline" with your regular rigs and weights. Then i wonderd about a mix of mashed up left over fish guts, heads etc with bran and some sort of fish oil? Like chumming from boats. The bran would soak up all the oils so you release lots of smell plus small particles of fish into the water. That way you're still able to fish at your normal distance for bigger fish but with a load of extra attraction and smell to home in on. What do you reckon?

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  6 років тому

      Thanks for the kind comments Stacey, glad you enjoyed. I haven't used the feeder that much from the beach but I think there's definitely some mileage in using it! Let us know how you get on with it. :-) Tight lines, cheers Chris.

    The only trouble with this is that where you fish is the same place i fish and ive fished baits like luncheon meat and bread and even corn and ive still caught whiting, ive even had them on the fly at that spot which tells you everything you need to know really, so you could have linked up a used smelly sock and put stones in it as a weight and still caught the same things, if that feeder had attracted bigger or different species id have bought into it making a difference but i wouldnt be sold on it for where we fish, would certainly buy into this method on other parts of the uk coast, but not in our whiting plagued water

    Great video as always mate. I did something similar years ago using those little mesh bags that you used to get with clothes washing detergent tabs. Worked great for black bream using minced squid and mackerel. You definately ran the risk of a doggie ripping the bag to bits though :)

      I did also use the method from my own boat when I lived on the Isle of Wight. It did work very well. The doggie issue was a bit of a problem but i certainly caught some great bream using it. Fished about 1 mile south of The Needles. Great fun and very good eating of course.
