Must Know Memo Tips for 3x3 Blindfolded (Grouping/Even Reviewing)

  • I realised just after 1-2 weeks of testing out my 3x3 Blindfolded Coaching/Critiquing that I was bringing up these 2 tips/techniques a lot and realised that I didn't even touch them in that memo tips video I made a few months ago so thought it was important for me to make a separate video about it 👍
    (Scramble I used in video: B L D' F R' L U R' U F2 B' L2 B D2 F D2 L2 U2 B' R2 F', I memoed from the DF buffer and used the Speffz lettering scheme)

    Thanks for the tip! I've been practicing 3bld a lot lately, and I've been trying to do no review for edge audio. It's sometimes doable and sometimes really hard, depending on what words I get. I figured the faster I get at memo, the easier it would be to leave out reviewing, but I'll try adding spaced out reviews and see how I do.

      J Perm Hey J perm I average sub 13 memo on 3bld and what helped me was to do edge only solves and try to practice with alot of noise (search up talking noise on youtube) it makes it hard to focus but it actually helps

    1:25 that's exactly what I do while memorising the edges. It takes me so much time just to memo edges.

    I came up with idea of grouping letter pairs quite early (like 2,5 years ago when i started 4bld) and it really helps especially in large piece sets like centers or wings. I decided to have groups of 3 pairs, so for example wings set usually contains 4 full groups and it helps keeping right order (sometimes i recall wrong order inside the group because my memo sucks) and i easily see if i have memorised all or something is missing.
    But in 3bld i get used to have 2 groups of 3 pairs memorised full audio and sometimes when i get 7 pairs i try to group in 3+2+2 or memo visually last pair and it can really slow down my memo

      I do 3 pairs per group for 4bld too and find it quite helpful
      For 3bld, I feel like I tend to do 3 groups of 2 pairs if I get ~12 letters, if I get more then I think I tend to use visual memo, whether it be for the last 2 letters of a cycle or flips

      Hi Shivalli, thanks for filling out the questionnaire, I got a much bigger response to the questionnaire than I thought I would, so I'm having to reach out in the people that answered it in separate groups over the course of weeks but I'll be sure to get to you soon 👍

    I think the only problem I have in my memo is blanking out on corners which happens after I've done more than 5 solves. Any ways I can practice using images for corners quickly without using too much time? (cuz when I go for speed, without realizing I tend to use audio for both edges and corners which is probably why I often blank out)

    • @JackCaiCubing
      @JackCaiCubing  4 роки тому

      I think it would come down to effective reviewing while making sure you're still making an image that's memorable enough on every solve (I think I recently tried rushing corners a bit but noticed that like you said, my corners were turning to something more like audio so I switched back)

      I do this sooo much too. I think I just fatigue that part of my brain. When that happens I'll just take a short break which seems to help.
