    I understand there are many different methods to this job that people use. This is how I do it and it works.

    Thanks for the easy, no nonsense tutorial. Gotta love the valve adjustment.

    Thank you for this! This video was awesome.
    It was the perfect balance of informative, quick, and not too much talking. Sometimes I just want to see how the job is done, and not listen to a UA-camr opine about everything or watch them in realtime as they take all the bolts off by hand.
    Keep up the great work! Liked and subscribed!

    Dumb question. What keeps the cam in place? Will it not move forward and aft?

      Good question: A combination of the lifters, tension on timing chain, and distributor

    I had a performance engine built for me, a 350 with a 6-71 blower and the engine builder accidently used an aggressive cam (the 'wrong' cam, in his own words) and I was told the cam could be changed-out with not too much trouble. Given the video I just saw, it looks like a LOT of work!!!!!

      Keep it in there and sell it, a new long block and mild cam is easier than turning a drag car into a cruiser. I mean sell just the hopped up engine. Not the vehicle. Good motoring hope you find what you’re looking for.

    Easy when engine is out of the vehicle, not so much when doing a cam swap with engine in vehicle.

    Great video.. so I need to change out cam in my 1980 sbc 350. I don't know what specs or cam to get. I don't want to get a cam that will force me to change out other items other than what I will need to change like lifters, push rods, rocker nuts. What would be a good cam spec to have a nice rumble but not crazy enough to blow out other parts. Engine is stock. Thank in advance!

    Great vid! Whats your suggestion on a cam for a stock 350 sbc or do I need to get a different engine to make a lot more hp than stock? Thanks in advance.

    Hey man I appreciate the upload, I’m doing a cam new lifters and roller rockers this time. I’m on my 3rd sb350 build so I’m not a noob but I like to dot my I’s and cross my T’s before I go to wrenching on stuff. This is a good check list for guys going about this automotive surgery. Mines going in a 64 Impala I’m hoping it’s gonna burn tires with my set up, took me 2 yrs of saving just to get the parts. Cheers mate thanks again.

    I have a 78 Pontiac trans am 400, 73,000 miles. Plan on putting in a 489 lunati voodoo cam. It has the original 406. Will I be okay with only replacing the valve springs? Everything else is original.

    Great video! I've always wanted to know how this is done without $1,000 worth of tools. I did hear that it's also good to soak the cam in oil for a day or so before install.

    Hey bud I have a question dude. I want to get cam that chops and you know get some performance out of it. Whar is the biggest one i could go with if i want to use the stock springs and rockers? How do you think that would idle? Thanks brother this is on a flat tappet 350. I will be getting matching lifters from the same company that made the camshaft and new hardened rods though i am not sure what size. I am assuming i need to replace the rods or just lifters. I have 6 quarts of drivens camshaft break in oil and have been using lucas classic car conventional 10w30 oil.

    • @samstrucks
      @samstrucks  4 місяці тому

      That is a massive amount of lift for a stock motor.
