Smite and Shards are both very potent abilities, lotta fun to use. Ogryn video with Nukes and Gunlugger killfeeds galore will be up in about 3-4 hours, its ready to go just wana give this one a bit of room to breathe

i still really want a primary option for the psyker that basically takes away your primary BUT gives you a flat increase of total toughness as a base to at least 200 with it being a 'shield generator' hence the boost AND it would be cool if it also gave the bonus utility to really make it worth it to not just you but your team to loose out on the staves horde clear potential by making each on in the group give a bonus 10% toughness to all allies in coherency (excluding you) so this way if you had a full group of psykers with this, they would each get a bonus 30% toughness or if you had 2 psykers running this alongside a ogryn tank and zealot thunderhammer boi, the surviablity of your group could really be ridiculous....
Does the actual progress of the characters that one have reset or you can assign the points of the ability as you wish if one is max level ?

As weird as it sounds the exploding enemies with the bio-lightning is what I'm most excited for. Psykers in lore are terrifying enemies being able to destroy entire platoons in grisly displays like that and you can now finally actually feel like a 40k Psyker rather than that dude who just makes enemies heads glow slightly or charge up your hands for a set time so you can watch the bosses health go down a set amount.
I was but after seeing gameplay it looks boring as hell, literally just stunlocks them for a huge duration with no interaction or danger
The animation is quite bad as well. The lightning just looks weird because it starts from the opper lower arm instead from the hands. Not a fan of the Yondu crystals either. Feels like more time needed ro be put into refining the animations of the abilities.
@@teejay1646 Yes, that is exactly the point. The brain burst is the single target DPS, the assail ability is for multiples, if Smite had either been single or multiple target DPS, people would be complaining about the overlap and not being unique. With surge staff changes its now the surge staff of the game with the added cool element of blowing up enemies.
Boring? Go play Damnagion Auric missions with high intensity special gauntlet. It aint that easy even if you got the lightning build.
@@Wanderer628 Seems to be mostly just for stunning, it'll be good, but not really my style. Taking 5-10 seconds of damage to kill basic enemies (that were dying to one light attack) means most of the time you will just be holding the enemy in place for your allies to kill, as its kinda anemic dps wise.
I do like that the psyker lightning staff still overall has the same function and appearance with the sparkle fingers, means you aren’t forced to take the sith lightning for your grenade if you want that particular style of play
Staff will still be better for pure consistent CC, the chain lightning will be more situational but also double as a melee range brainburst
@@teejay1646 Staff appears to now be single-target dps from what i've seen. So looks like it's not taken for CC anymore, but for single-target damage.
@@Pontus28 That's probably a way better way to balance things tbh, people were using the fireball staff (I forget their names) as their "single target" staff and it always seemed like a bit of a weird hybrid option
Staff being a CC stick while being the thing you use for ranged damage was pretty rough
Actually the sticky fingers skill is actually better cc and the staff is better dmg.
I usually uses lightning staff to take out group of specialists etc. due to it being incredibly powerful and high damage, on the opposite, I’m used to use Smite against hordes as a back line support for the team because you could stall the whole horde and make it an easy job for your team.
Bro I am so hyped for this patch. After taking a long break I am so ready to dive back in with all the new crazy cool builds.
Wasn't really a fan of Headburster Psyker, but this Shard Knives ability looks cool asf!
Also, Do you need to make a new character, or will you be able to change it with your current character? Idk if that's been tested yet, so that's why I'm wondering.
you get a new skill tree and can reskill at any time (outside of missions). No need for a new char
if you're level 30, you'll have access to the entire new skill tree and can make new builds whenever you want, no new character needed

Those telekine knives are actually lore accurate. In the Eisenhorn novels, one of his Inquisitorial retinue was able to use those. I find that cool because someone had to have read those from 20 years ago to put them in.

I was originally worried telekine knives and to a lesser extent smite wouldn't be able to take out specials or elites but it seems it's definitely possible just brain burst does it faster, which I like.
I'm really excited to try these out, they look like a lot of fun.
Edit: I'll probably also try the revolver duelling sword build because it seems to pretty nicely make up for any scenario where you're lacking damage lol
Unless this patch overhauls it, the Deimos out-damages any dueling sword by multiples, without charging it. The heavy stab can 1-shot mutants on Damnation

@@skwerleyz I like that the darts are essentially free damage you throw out between tasks, it feels like vet players are the ones who need to focus on their aim and psykers are the ones who need to focus on their APM
Fuck yeah, telekinetic knives! I always thought that Patience Kys from Ravenor books was the most badass psyker ever, and now new psyker can be like her too!

Psykers are my favorite class in this game, and he's now even more dope AF. Its a shame it doesn't seem like we don't get new voice lines for the characters. Can you imagine the German psyker screeching "UNLIMITED POWAAAAAHHHH!" lol

There are definitely new voice lines. At least for the throwing shards. The psyker constantly says stuff like "Yes, seek out my enemies!" and stuff like that when throwing them around.
The only thing that could make this better is if we could have the psyker voice actor from Dawn of War 1 add some lines! "WITNESSSS YOUR DOOOOOOOAAAAAMMM!!"
I'm so excited!! Thanks for posting the previews! It was so fuckin dope when Zealot said "you shall not pass" while holding up her idol / artifact, the timing was serendipitous with y'all being on the stairs to the landing pad.
The Shards seem like the perfect ability to cover the weakness of every staff - that being shooter clear. Cant wait to use them with my Trauma staff to be an absolute power house. :D
Finaly, psycher allways felt lacking in....well psyichic abilities, hell if i remember correctly the most effective way to play him was with a gun, now with these changes he finaly feels like an actual space wizard
I can't wait to see how that lightning chain works against the bosses. this looks insane!

Noticing there is almost a complete absence of tagging enemies for teammates in this video. The characters never calling out special/disabler enemies in dialogue is one give-away, never seeing anything highlighted in red is another. Just interesting.
i was thinking the same thing. i hate having to remind time and time again for my team mates to tag enemies.

Oh heck yeah dude. Psyker gameplay was my favorite sort to watch before they had killer crystals. Now I get you watch Palpatine back in black. The stylishness around 10:20 is part and parcel to why I think that they're the coolest and most interesting characters to watch.
The ability to channel my inner patience with the telekine blades is so exciting 😁

you will have full power and access to the entire new skill tree if you are level 30, wont need to make a new character
I can't wait. I think this is the best change and addition they've done since release. I felt the player characters felt monotonous. Now there will be much more variety.

This patch is releasing simultaneously with the console release and there is full crossplay between PC and Xbox, so there is going to be a ton of new people in the game for the next month at least.

Have fun buddy , I recently leveled my psyker from 1 to 30 after having sniper and Ogryn on 30. There are plenty of fresh and new players when you start :)
As someone who started with Psyker, it feels SO GOOD to finally get some real options.
Just a reminder for peeps looking to use Bio-Lighting, always pack Psychic Empowerment with the 3x stack storage, it stops any Peril build up while making you the equivalent of a electric fence for hordes and hound packs, just make sure to keep atleast 1 stack by using your weapons cause base damage and Peril for Bio Lighting is painful to get stacks (and will consume 1 stack when done too)
Glad to finally have a real reason to hop back on! Once I hit level 30 on all the classes it felt like there was absolutely nothing to do

no new "weapons" like Melta Gun or that sort of thing. They would have advertised those already if they were coming. Plenty of new weaponry like Incendiary grenades, ogryn frag bomb, telekine shards and ability stuff. there's already a lot of weapon rebalancing on this early build, there should be a LOT more coming soon

Dude they have kinda nerfed brain bust build because you used to be able to two shot crushers(or even reapers if I pick that one talent that adds damage)with the build I was using, now you can't. I also used to be one shot ragers consistently, now it's more tricky.

I honestly love those magic shards, they are so op when dealing with hordes or hard to reach enemys like the snipers
So what is the surges staff role now in comparison with smite? Since smite seems a very strong cc ability.
New Surge staff is high dps vs. single targets, hits only 2 targets per cast now. Bit underwhelming vs. Unyielding, but otherwise great for bursting through high hp or important enemies like Ragers/Maulers.

Interesting. Before, surge staff did moderate damage to two targets and low damage to around seven or so other enemies. I guess I understand the change, as until now, psyker had no single target damage staves.
does the game feel smoother? how are the servers? lag? that's what I'm still worried about
these early access builds aren't generally a good indication of stuff like that in my experience. there's just not very many players or load on the server. i've not run into any issues though

All due respect, i know Fatshark probably has you guys in a vice, but i notice whenever you were showing the Smite off, your peril was distinctly scrubbed from the screen most of the video, i assume because youre using the infinite cast bug with warp charges to make it useful. There was also a focus of short clips over extensive use of the far more powerful Assail. Are you gonna addres Fatsharks poor balancing after prepping for this launch for months and months?
What a weird comment. I'll respond anyway, against my better judgement. No one knows if the interaction between Smite and Warp Charges is a bug or if it's intended. Regardless, Smite is far from useless even without it. You don't have to go straight down a specific tree, you can mix and match, so taking the anti-peril passives from the left side tree combined with taking venting shriek instead of the shield allows you to continuously cast your Smite until you're at 95ish peril, then venting shriek back to 45, then go back up to 95ish, and finally stop for about 3 seconds (with peril passives) and you're back down to 0 peril and back to casting Smite. Smite is simultaneously one of the most useful, most fun and most visually appealing playstyles in the entire game.
@@sigmar40k You're categorically wrong. The interaction is certainly a bug, as there's no text or intention displayed that its meant to let you cast the spell an infinite amount of time once without gaining peril, the one thing literally all psyker abilities share. Secondly, you can minmax your smite as much as you want, it doesn't change the fact that you can do the exact same thing with Assail except it hilariously outperforms smite in every category. It generates less peril, can be used more often. Does more damage to elites and regular enemies. These aren't opinions. Its observable with the statistics in the game. You can hop in a training room to test it if you like.

I can tell already that the spikes will be op and the lightning will be underpowered.
And u was right, I'm new to the game I will likely test some build with the "Unlimited Power" but I'm pretty sure they will stay trash it's a CC capacity but it's not working on big enemies
Never underestimate the power of CC, especially on the higher difficulties where your team can get overwhelmed out of nowhere. Lightning will have its place
The lightning is overpowered if anything. You can perma stun an entire horde, elites and specialists included, while your team kills them. It also does decent enough damage if you spec it properly and throw in some Soulblaze dots. The only thing it can't stun is Daemonhosts and Abominations. But it'll even stun stuff like the beasts of nurgle, if I recall correctly.

But whilst CC is powerful, even necessary, killing power is more important. Otherwise the enemy simply stacks up until the situation is uncontrollable.
Assail shreds hordes, decimates elites and specials and isn't bound to a specific range.
The only shortcoming Assail has is dmg vs Carapace.
The lightning is more powerful for a well drilled team i can attest to that. But 99% of the players are playing with randoms.

Smite can be a double edged sword.
A couple of days ago I used Smite to CC a dog pack, and accidently aggroed a DH. 🤭
A hell yeah, the biomancer in the lore/table top is his own power with powers like Shape Fleash/Shapeshifting (complete or partial), Metal Arm what turn you in a juggernaut with super strenght and a bit slower, Hammerhand what give you Superman like strenght ripping fleash and bone like wet papper and Warp Speed what turn you in the Flash and a few more but those are my favorites. Those will literaly break the game to a fair amounth of them don't couse feeding or perryl like Shape Fleash and are quick to use.

How would a Psyker with the Purgatus staff do with the new shield skills?
I was really hoping they would have added Stat Scoreboard (damage dealt, received etc like in Vermintide), and Options for Health Bars, Damage numbers etc. Its dumb that we can see those in the Meatgrinder but not in an actual map...

I want to complain about Biolightning but i think i've just gotten used to playing on the End game difficulty between both V2 and DT and forget that they aren't balancing around that difficulty nor should they. Smite is great.
How does the Smite blitz compare to the surge staff? Sounds like the surge staff was changed to be more damage focused, is that basically the whole story?
I can't really tell but it seems like the new smite has a harder time at control then the current surge staff? Is that wrong? Also does the shield block trapper nets, I saw you tried that at the end but you were turned around so I can't be sure.
im not 100% sure but I believe that shield bubble blocks all ranged attacks, which should include nets. its kinda hard to gauge Smite vs. old Surge, but in my experience Smite is very good at CC and has very little issue performing that role in a pinch

it stops all projectiles, so stops flame and nets as well

Another YTer mentioned that the Dueling sword is best for Psyker. Is that true? I never understood why FS doesn't make the force sword better because it's one of the ultimate weapons of 40k.

I dunno. That lightning seems a bit lackluster. Could be the talent tree tho. Maybe it does more dmg or better AOE stun depending on the spec
its mostly for crowd control, not for damage. it can stunlock mixed hordes full of armor, ragers, mutants, and other things. can be very useful
Man this looks so good! It's a shame I won't touch the game again until they add servers to my region or bring back client side servers. Higher difficulties are unplayable at 200ms ping.

Hopefuly not, because then they stop being the harder defifficulties.
Theyre adding more enemy health but in theory i dont think any of that will matter because the players getting so much stronger. These guys have been destroying maelstrom for ages with 1 tree so access to 3 trees is gonna be extremely OP no matter what those health increases look like.

4 months later, and psykers still don't know when to use smite. Smite for everything is not the answer. Smite is a fire extinguisher. Smite can make your teams job HARDER, when you use it wrong. Use it, laugh maniacally, then get back to playing the game.
