**Do not attempt to use Henbane, as it can be lethal and lead to death.** Episode 1 of my Magic and Mystical Plants of Earth! Henbane, a deadly and toxic nightshade, has been used for thousands of years all around Eurasia as both a shamanic and medicinal plant. Henbane was one of the main ingredients in 'the Witches Ointment' and it has even been used in India and Egypt!
As always, the most relevant of subjects, this video alone is shining the brightest of light, keep it up dakota of earth.i feel we could have endless conversations.
The difficulty of a foreigner like myself authentically participating in a traditional plant medicine ceremony is alot more complex than people may think, traditionally the use of plant medicines by people is just one small aspect of a much larger tradition and all encompassing way of life, a complex system of religious beliefs and other spiritual practices, on a continuum from more exoteric to esoteric, certain ethical and moral principles, various rules and regulations, different social roles and duties, a knowledge of and connection with all other members of the tribe, usually from birth etc, a whole particular mentality, psychological and emotional that has developed and been cultivated by these particular people, etc etc etc, so it was very different for them as one could imagine compared to someone like me from the west who may come in and stay for a while then leave. what i am getting at is that a commitment to the tradition and way of life would seem to be a prerequisite for its participation i believe, a conversion to use a different type of Language, ultimately an initiation that is for life and implies one is going to seek god following that particular mode of following god with all that the tradition implies otherwise there will always remain this sense of one being a tourist in a way, just hoping to come in without any true lifelong commitment and have an experience, it has this materialistic western consumer feel to it, just happens to be in regards to spiritual things uno, its like spiritual shopping, but i believe the commitment and the sacrifice that a proper engagement with spiritual/religious things implies is one or the most important parts of the effectiveness of the whole thing and determines the degree of benefit one may get from the ceremony uno. Because if you look at all of history and mans spiritual/religious searching and way of life then it os always the case that only one particular tradition is followed by any given individual, individually or culturally they commit to one way of life, one religion, one path etc and follow it to the desired goal which is the attainment of an experiential union with god, in fact it was so important that different paths to the same goal not be mingled together or one person not practice two ways that there was many restrictions in every culture existing to guard against this, this is where we get what is misinterpreted now as a bigoted exclusivity in religion in relation to how it sees other religions but in reality it is just an attitude that had to be taken for the protection of each religion which is whole and complete in itself and can lead man to the same end as another one, when two paths are confused and joined tho then it may destroy both because they are so radically different in the mode in which they do things that they externally appear not to even have the same end in sight etc God bless brotha

Salvia divinorum should definitely get a proper review. San Pedro. The morning glories. Canary grass, Bundleflower, Mimosas. Syrian Rue (MAOI) and "anahuascas". Cultural traditions, Contraindications and cautions, of course. Eco habitat. Horticultural botanical practices. Overharvesting pressure.
Thank you for teaching us about this ancient, mystical and amazing plant! Interesting that cultures mix it with different things and such a rich history. Please make a video about Blue Lotus (Nymphaea Caerulea), I can imagine that it would have been very powerful if mixed with Henbane.
The scopolamines in henbane are the same as the "angel 👼 trumpet"(?) flower. As commented earlier, and as was replied. I too have only read about the various types balms used as a method of conveyance rarely as you stated. Also the mandrake root was also a ingredient in the witches balm I have read. Perhaps some of the incantation seems to border on Necromancy. Very La Bas like. I'd like to see a video on identifying the different types of psychoactive plants and mushrooms found in America today.
Love this! I’m currently obsessed with this book called The Poison Path Herbal by Coby Michael. I’d would love to see an episode about the PoPpy. A beautiful plant with an amazing lore around it covered in the book.
Wow I had no idea about the "duendes" (gnomes) in Mexico but it makes since given the historical use of psilocybin there. I'm always on the hunt for compound-specific archetypes in areas where they've been used hah. I suspect that henbane and psilocybe mushrooms might have even been mixed together (probably with beer as well) in sacred or necromantic rituals at the ancient Greek site/city of Mycenae. Back then, beer was almost always spiked with hallucinogens or other substances. The word mycenae I think means mushroom too. But just imagine combining them; you have the 'hyperspace' vibe from the psilocybin paired/synergizing with the 'underworld' feeling from the henbane. It's like the ultimate entheogenic journey. Opium poppy seems to have been used at the site as well and opium is known historically for its 'gothic' visions, like those that entranced the romantic poets of the 19th century. Haven't done henbane personally but I've done Datura and Brugmansia a number of times (even combined them once) and I find them to feel very sacred and deep but not exactly in a spiritual way and I think referring to the nightshade stuff as witchcraft isn't inaccurate. Datura definitely has a magical, naturey, superstitious, and even a kind of quaint Old-world vibe, but to me it seemed less about healing and knowledge and spirituality and more about sorcery, power, self-interest, cunningness, etc. It's definitely a dark, morbid and malefic experience and one that can lead to malevolence and social reclusiveness among its users I believe but there is a deep sacredness there and I think it can help balance peoples' views on the supernatural by showing people the occult side of otherworldly plant experiences rather than just the shamanic side. Experiencing a hallucinogenic nightshade just once can help one understand this ghostly, shadowy underworld-nightshade realm and not just the spiritual realms of psychedelics like mushrooms and ayahuasca. Keep up the vids man. Can't wait for a datura episode or psilocybin one since those are the ones I have most encounters with.
@@sadhu7191 Sith? Is that from Star Wars lol. I mean, I personally don't practice sorcery I just found the datura trip to be very oriented around sorcery and occultism. Necromancy seemed like one of the more focal themes of the trip so if anything, I would probably use it for that if I did practice magic. The datura experience goes on about "power" too and things like that but it all seems somewhat vague and I can't really say I know what that would entail or ultimately even look like. Its themes are very 'fantastical' and magical and sort of over the top. Something out of like medieval or early modern folklore. Female empowerment seems like a notable theme as well since it's about witchery and the plant itself feels feminine. When I think of the ideal datura user, I picture someone like Rose the Hat. Someone female, someone cunning and someone who is a person of nature and plants.
I would love to hear your take on this in a podcast or something. Do you think taking psychedelics or 5meodmt at death will have a effect on rebirth or the death process itself?
Interesting to consider... I think you get lots of dmt during the death process anyway - I imagine adding more would only be perceptible while conscious until the soul departs. But perhaps the function of dmt before death is perhaps assisting to transition you to an ethereal plane so doing 5meo beforehand... maybe could have an affect on post-carnal existence.
I'm not sure if would have any effect on the process of death, not the physical process, but perhaps they can elevate the fear of death through a spiritual or mystical experience. And as for after death, or rather afterlife or rebirth, I guess if one believes in Karma then yes it likely would. Everything we do effects our Karmic destinies. Again it would all depend on what ones spiritual and metaphysical beliefs are.
True, but as Maharji said (Neeb karori Baba). if you think about a Mango at death you will become a fruitfly. If you`re high on psychedelics and the Ego is shattered and your just present in the moment I just wonder if that would have an effect on your next life. And on 5meo, what if you`d just stay in the 5meo world because there wouldt be a living body to go back to. idk weird shit
Between the ages of four and six I think that I recently found out a medication being prescribed to me from a milt. doctor was doing experiments medications using black henbane. Trust me a young child tripping is not a good thing. Some experiences were pretty though. I’ve used psychedelics since then. I often wonder if some of the psychological damage that I’ve had since childhood has to do with this and anything else they may have done while my parent was in the military. I am 43 now so that was in the 80s. Thank you for sharing the wonderful benefits of using plants for good and by your own free will. Lol.
