I love all what I see. I've never been into a sgr but I can see it looks exactly like in the plane even the toilet. Thanks for showing us inside of a first class sgr
Amazing content, it's about time you guys tried the SGR. I think most of the railway in the national parks is elevated so animals can cross, hence the hefty $3bn price tag.
The 7km viaduct/bridge across NNP costs a whooping $420 million usd if you read the feasibility report... If the railway had avoided the park and was built in human populated areas, the pricetag would have gone up to $625m
Wonderful perspectives! Yes the railway line crossing especially through the Nairobi NP caused lots of discontent from conservationists. The fear of cutting off animal migratory routes, noise distractions and altered sceneries was eventually mitigated by the long flyover track across the park. Same with Tsavo NP. Big animals like elephants and giraffes can safely cross through the underpasses
Nothing was mitigated, it's a huge eyesore. It reduced the park surface area and introduced invasive species during the construction, and caused alot of ecological damage elsewhere in kenya due to sand mining for the huge amount of concrete needed to build it. And I've never seen a single train cross over it.
@@timosnieder4637 Do you live in Utopia!? That's the price that any ecosystem pays for such major infrastructural developments. Trains ply through the park without any hitch and no one is complaining.
@@timosnieder4637 its better than the one the Europeans constructed that actually cut through the Tsavo NP with no overpasses hence animals being knocked dead off the railway line by trains. That was actually the biggest eye sore.
It's crazy how many trains pass through national parks at ground level in Europe with no complaints but when Kenya mitigates this with flyovers to minimise animal disruption you get likes of Timo sounding off like they are the morality police. African countries also have to industrialise and I'm glad that Kenya is doing so in a considered way.

But I was so overwhelmed by all the extra security and screening that you have to go through, sheesh.
