thank you so much for this. Your descriptions are thorough and numerous. I also appreciate the Grass and stepping stone examples. lots of content in a relatively short video. Good show!
Amaaaaaasing. just the tutorial i was looking for. I am only colouring in adult colouring books but was pleased to see your video on the the subject where you said this is sometimes how people get started with art. I am hoping that will be me I am getting more depth, shading etc in my books and improving I have a piece with sea in it and wanted it to look realistic and am sure this is going to help. Thnks
Thank you so much for taking the time to do these tutorials. As a stay at home mum I have really wanted to learn without the time to go to college. These are so informative. So a big thanks from the UK! 😀
Awesome Lisa, if there is one subject I would avoid like the plague it is waves so this has to be one of my favourite tutorials ever. I hate having to avoid certain subjects just because I'm rubbish and can't do it, but your guidance in this tutorial is so valuable. Hope you are keeping well Lisa. Take care
First, I’d like to thank you for taking the time making these tutorials. I’m a novice, to say the least, and you’re instruction is by far the most clear and descriptive I’ve seen. There is, however, one product you bring up quite often that I’m having trouble understanding. I hear phrases like “odderless, minieral…” and “titanium…” which is something you use in concert with colored pencils. So, because I’m so new and so clueless when it comes to sketching and drawing with colored pencils, I would ask…What specific products do you use when using colored pencils and what is each product for. Sorry to ask such a stupid question, but I simply don’t know. Thanks so much, and please…keep doing what you’re doing! You’re helping more people than you know.
Hi Lisa? Are you feeling okay now? I been watching you for a long time, I am an artist and you inspired me to make art tutorials too! I hope the art community can benefit and learn from my videos like how you inspired others! Love Destiny ❤️❤️
Could you please tell me what is the tool you used at 11:51? I need to do the sea foam and i understood that i can't do it with colored pencils and i need paint for that. The tool you used doesn't seem to be a brush, could you please tell me what it is?
Great video Lisa. I had to go out and buy another bottle of Mona Lisa spirits because my room mate threw out a full bottle of mine. I had to drive forever to get it to. I keep it under the sink because I dont want it leaking. I was ready to beat him. That spirits really makes a difference when your drawing.
Very nice!!! Does the use of the odorless mineral spirits lessen the archival quality of the piece? In other words, is it damaging to the paper or pigment? Will it (theoretically) last just as long as a piece done with the same materials except the odorless mineral spirits?
Lisa , this is beautiful! I have got to order some of that touch up white stuff! Hopefully next month! I am drawing a flamingo now, with some water thats about the same color as this, slightly more green. Great job! I am using my carandache pencils for the first time tonight. Way thicker of a pencil than the prismas. I feel like the coverage is better than prismas but the color selection is limited on the pinks, so im using more oranges on my flamingo. I have never drawn one before so this should be interesting. I cant wait for your next video!
Hi Lisa! Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials. Thanks to you I started drawing with colored pencils as well as soft pastels and pastel pencils and it tourned out it is a whole new univers for me. Since I'm still experimenting, I came across my old oil pastels and tried to blend them with mineral spirits and use Prismacolor pencils on top and blend again and the result was quite nice. Have you tried that and what do you think about it. Do you think a painting done with both would last in time if both the pencils and the pastels are ligtfast.
Hi there Lisa! I found all of your videos about 3 or 4 weeks ago and have been watching a lot of them. Thank You for doing all of this for all of us. I never realized the world of colored pencils before and you have been opening that door for me. I do have a question for you. If the Brush and Pencil blending Powder had existed when you did this drawing would you have used it rather than the Odorless Mineral Spirits to blend out your pencil colors or would you have had to stay away from it since you are using both oil based pencils and wax based pencils together in this beautiful piece.
Ordered Fabriano Artistico 140 lb paper from Dick Blick in July. Still on back order until at least January 2018. Where else might I be able to get this?
Hi lisa!!i know this isnt really related to this video but what are your favourite graphite pencils?and which pencils give a nice darkness other than the staedtler mars lumograph ...also which do you prefer between derwent and faber castell 9000?
Can u make a video about night scene (not moon stars or starry sky)?I can't color night scene such as summer camp with girls, night street(without moon) . I can't bring the exactly effect of night & the light on any everyday scenery
Hi Lisa! As always you made an amazing piece of art! I have a question for you or if someone else’s can answer too I will be very happy: is there something similar to glassine? I am asking because I live in Brazil and here I don’t have these specific material! Thank you 😍
Can I do this if I'm broke lol I don't own any fancy colored pencils or blending tools, just some dollar tree Crayola pencils. I am trying to make a scene at night by the ocean and I am seriously struggling with water. I will attempt your method though and it looks fantastic!
Since her early teens, I think. She began to take it seriously at the age of around 16-18. She has a video talking about it, but I'm not sure which one.
Dr. Sharp, Lisa has been interested in art since she was a small child. Lisa has created a great video on how she got into painting and drawing. It is well worth viewing to get to know Lisa and why she is who she is. It would one of her first Vlog videos. You should find it in her play list or list of videos. Great question and she will answer it in some of these previous videos. I think this is the link " ua-cam.com/video/c9voUxQWfWE/v-deo.html ". click in this an it should play the video on "how she became an artist".
Water soluble colored pencils would mean either watercolor pencils (not colored pencil in my book) or inktense pencils (water soluble ink, also not colored pencil in my book). While you can use either of these types of pencils, they are a completely different medium so the technique to achieve this look would be totally different.
Great strokes. Naturally perspectively awesome. She's truly among one-of-a-kind.
I love watching art, it's really relaxing and satisfying. Great job!
Are you sure you're human ? This seems like magic to me haha
LOL :D
It looks like a picture instead of a drawing
like to you!
thank you so much for this. Your descriptions are thorough and numerous. I also appreciate the Grass and stepping stone examples. lots of content in a relatively short video. Good show!
I love listening to you talk when you paint - I learn so much!

Love watching you create your magic with the pencils, Lisa ! Thank you for this - it's brilliant!

You are so talented. First time I see your video and I just love it. Thank you
I learned so much from this video ! I do from all of them but you show so much more than just doing a wave.thanks
I love the big wave 🌊
Awesome Lisa, if there is one subject I would avoid like the plague it is waves so this has to be one of my favourite tutorials ever. The Art Gear Guide You’re not “rubbish”, you just need practice and the guts to try it. It’s ONLY ART-screw it up, NOBODY DIES!
Fantastic! Bravo! Merci! :-) 1000 👌🤗🤩🍀❤️🌞🌹💙💛
Brilliant as always, love the shine where the wave curls over

Thx. I have Faber- Castel Polychromos Colour Pencils and I think they blend in water.
Amazing!!!!!

Debra P if Lisa use it in her artwork it's archival ! For sure !!
Like 100% sure !
Debra P It doesn't affect the archival quality. If it did, Lisa would not use it.
Very cool! 🌊

Thank you so much! ♥️
I love this 💙💙🌊
Great teacher= you are
I'd like to know what colours you are using as I'm a beginner and currently struggle with colours. Nice video though.

I ordered it January of 2017 and it's still on backorder for me too. Not sure what's going on there.
Do you ever use coconut oil to blend?
Nope, that would cause some serious archival issues.
Love this drawing! Is this tutorial available at a slower speed on your Patreon and is there a reference photo on it too?
Uhm how did you blend the colorpencil
Here you go ua-cam.com/video/go7vg2ozENo/v-deo.html
Can you substitute inktense pencils instead if colored pencils? What differences can you expect? New to your work, I am very impre
Hi, I can't get the touch-up texture in Canada. Are there any alternatives to use with the titanium white powder? Would odourless blender work?
again learned something from the master
Love your videos
Muito bommmm! Lindo!
Which colour pencils do you used
Hi lisa!!i know this isnt really related to this video but what are your favourite graphite pencils?and which pencils give a nice darkness other than the staedtler mars lumograph

Wich pencil brand use ?
Where can I buy the Brush & Pencil Touch-Up in canada????
Delta Art :)
Can u make a video about night scene (not moon stars or starry sky)?I can't color night scene such as summer camp with girls, night street(without moon) . I can't bring the exactly effect of night & the light on any everyday scenery
It’s really good but how to you draw the outline?
Hi Lisa! As always you made an amazing piece of art! I have a question for you or if someone else’s can answer too I will be very happy: is there something similar to glassine? I am asking because I live in Brazil and here I don’t have these specific material! Thank you 😍
I'm not sure what it would be called there, hopefully someone else will know :D
it may be called greased proof paper, use it to line cake tins etc.
Trish Stafford thanks, it really helped 😍
I missed you!
How do you decide what media ur going to do ur art in, Necessity or is it all personal preference?
personal reference... unless you have professors then they introduce you to different media
I wish i can be that a day🤩 i do be ameliorate my draw, i want to buy thé set of 36 polychromos but idk if its not a lot for make a beauty sea
nice voice and good lesson ,but did not see how you blend with water
amazing

can you draw a kakapo pls i love kakapos
wow great 😘😍
Hi! How are ya Lisa?
Cool. Nice...
I think I actually like the pencil rendition better than the painting of it!
Heather Bryant Me too, it seems sharper and the colours brighter. Both are brilliant though - excellent work Lisa!
how long have you been practicing art???
Since her early teens, I think. She began to take it seriously at the age of around 16-18. She has a video talking about it, but I'm not sure which one.

Hhhhhhnnnnngggggg I'm havin trouble followiiiiiiinnnn X<
I think I just need practice XD
WOW
Sand ! Sand next !
Good idea!
You had an opportunity to mention water soluble colored pencils, but did not. Should I deduce from this that they are not a valid form of CP.
Water soluble colored pencils would mean either watercolor pencils (not colored pencil in my book) or inktense pencils (water soluble ink, also not colored pencil in my book). While you can use either of these types of pencils, they are a completely different medium so the technique to achieve this look would be totally different.
It's a twoffer. :)
