A dog showed up at the back of the property July 2021. I think she’s an American bulldog, but not sure. Moira reminds me of Sadie (we kept her, and no one was missing a dog nearby in my local Facebook page). Having a hard time still with Sadie, but not giving up. I have five other dogs that I take care of and they’re part of the family.
These videos helps out considerably! Thank you very much Zack.

I didn’t make that comment to draw in so much hate to this comment section. All I meant was that it’s nice to see a trainer recognize the challenge that the adoptive dog owner go through. It’s not an easy walk in the park and preaching is very different from doing.

I see some negative comments, but I find this series comforting to watch. It's cool to see trainers that show videos of them conquering a reactive/untrained dog in seconds, but this video is VERY relatable for us non-dog trainers. It seems to be a series where people can actually see what is possible and that it is doable even by us with constant training.

My dad never trained our dog at our other house, so when I went there, he was the same as Moira - a very big ball of energy with no boundaries. I just started to train him now, and it's extremely tiring to do so, especially when he has grown a year old and can't match up to his strength AND I never had a dog, he was my first.
Seeing this, like other comments have mentioned, makes me feel like everyone EVENTUALLY struggles, even professionals. I just hope I have determination left at the end of the day :,)

My family has been gifted a german shepherd that is super energetic, even more energetic than Moira in the video here. I love the dog, she's a massive goofball and not aggressive with people, she does get very excited when she sees the house dog that we have had before she came... Anyway that's the short version. I really want to get some control over her as I am the only one who can take her on walks and she pulls immensely, she's such a strong dog and only 1 year old.

I learned to not be embarassed of my dog's behavior even when people tells me something about the reactivity of my dog. The most important thing to me is my dog and improve his behavior, who cares about them. They probably just had easy dog, they don't know what it takes to train a reactive dog. It's hard and frustrating, but the most important thing is my dog, i don't care if people tells me that my dog is a bad dog or that I'm a bad owner, because I know it's not true. I used to have anxiety to walk my dog because of the people judging me and my dog. There's so many people that would have give away a reactive dog, and those people are probably the people that look at u weird when your dog bark it's head off. Don't be ashamed of your work, people don't know.

This is THE greatest dog training series on UA-cam. Thank you for showing an example of training from the bottom up. I am feeling so much more confident and aware of what I can do to help my dog learn our desired behaviours. As a first time dog owner with a 7 month old chihuahua male I was feeling really overwhelmed, but watching this series has taught me so much. It’s incredible to see a trainer work so in-depth with a dog that exhibits the same behaviour as mine (biting playfully, barking at other dogs, pulling, the excitement and lack of attention on me, and jumping on furniture to name a few. You’re truly the best!!!

I am so impressed, Zak, by your attitude! You are an optimist and you give so much thought and love to the dog, even though this first time is super difficult. It takes so much time, discipline, love, consistency, and PATIENCE! This video is so much more real than many dog training videos, which I've seen many of....And very helpful for many people having new dogs, and imagine those people being first time dog owners?! I've had dogs my whole life, and have just adopted a beautiful Husky mix which was in a kill shelter in Texas, and she made it all the way to Maine, so she is one lucky dog, and so am I....but first of all, she came to me with Heartworm, so we're now just getting a handle on that, and now, she can have more exercise, and what a puller on the leash. So, it just takes work/patience, and physical strength every day going out with her on a walk...Without my previous knowledge with other dogs, I would have been much more fearful and pessimistic....but we are truly making headway! I have had her now for six months and she is such a great girl! I just don't want to disappoint her, because her training with me is everything, and it takes a huge dedication....we can do it!

14:56 You have no idea how much I love the fact that youre not using prone/ecollar/chokers/slip collar and all the other device that uses force. but more so that you genuinely want to create genuine bond and understanding through verbal communication and body language/signs rather than through devices. Thank you for being so patient with dogs. I don't know any other trainers that preach that.

So happy I found this, shows that even a trainer gets stumped every now and then. It was great to see how you worked around it and showed the realness. Awesome work!

Thank you so much for finally working with a dog like this.I feel a little more encouraged that I will have good training info to train a adult shelter dog. Some of my fear is subsiding.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WENT THROUGH WITH MY RESCUE DOG 😬 I have cried numerous times after walks and almost gave up and gave him away. THIS IS REAL LIFE. Thanks for sharing this, so many of us get way in over our heads with some dogs and they just need time... lots of time and consistency.
