I think this is the first time anyone has called Robbie Robertson "Clapton's backup guitarist". This was from the Band's last live show, and Eric was there as a guest musician. If you haven't seen it, you should watch the concert film "The Last Waltz". It's directed by Martin Scorsese, and the music is top notch. A who's who of 60s and 70s awesomeness.

Prince's solo to "While my guitar gently weeps", live at the Rock n roll hall of fame is probably one of the sickest live solos I've ever heard. To take a masterpiece, take it apart, and replace it with your own masterpiece, that's what made Prince an absolute genius.

I also just saw John 5 live and pretty much every song goes on there. Between the crazy masks, crazy teles, effortless shredding and much more, it’s just so cool.

For me: George Thorogood and The Destroyers. They were the musical guests on one of those weekend sketch comedy shows. Played Bad To The Bone. I said to myself, “I have to learn how to do that!” Been annoying my family for 40 years now.

My pick is live without a net. Summer nights or the 316/Eruption solo. Eddie just looks like he's having so much fun. It just boils with enjoyment. I can feel his emotion with all of his smiles and awesome playing. I wish i could have been at just one of their concerts.

Another one of my favorite moments (it was more of a planned section) KISS when Ace Freehley did his guitar solo sections live and the smoke comes out of his pickups and then he sets it down while the note keeps ringing out and he walks off stage to get another guitar to finish the solo. I’ve believe several times the guitar flew up and then exploded when he gets his other guitar.
    It is absolutely amazing!

The closing solo of comfortably numb at Pink Floyd's Pulse concert gets me every time. Perhaps the most perfect phrasing of that piece ever, which is a masterpiece at any time, but was taken to another level there.

I’ve been a classic country/bluegrass fan and amateur musician my whole life and yet I still can’t watch a Prince clip without getting somewhat emotional every time I see him. And not just for his contributions to music but simply for who the man was as a human being. We lost him far too soon. May he Rest In Peace 💜

For me one of the greatest live guitar moments is in the Every time I die Tuska 2003 children of bodom performance. During the solo Alexi has the epic V guitar posture, he's playing an awesome solo, you see the people living it... and suddenly some birds pass by flying in the sunset. That represents metal for me

a few of my favorite live guitar moments have to be terry Kath shredding 25 or 6 to 4 at Tanglewood '70, Freebird solo at the Oakland Coliseum '77, and this is a little wild card but one way out by the Allman brothers at the Filmore east '71! Dickey and Duane are just astonishing in that performance, it's a shame we lost Duane so young. all of these live versions are on youtube btw.

The Dillinger Escape Plan. Coney Island High. Last note of the set, the guitar player jumps off of the stage and his guitar head hits the fluorescent lights. They pop and spark and send the room into darkness and silence at the same time. Best ending to a set I’ve ever scene. Accidental magic.
