    i have never seen the reflector used like that.... i hated the reflector because it never stayed and was so easily blown off especially how it had to be bent out when hooked to the top to reflect the light straight out. without the bend it reflected the light into the chimney. after your vid i bent it back nice and straight and mounted it in the peep spot and... it reflected the light straight with a little bit of a hot spot, which is better then the flood it had when loosely hung on top. i did find after the couple mins that the light was reflected a little up so i bent the reflector towards the lamp to straiten it. what amazed me even more is that the reflector focused the reflected beam AROUND the middle support bar in front.... as if it was deliberately designed this way. thank you, this helped a lot.

    I find the beeswax only works in warmer climates. They don't burn hot enough for winter use, i.e. Tiny little flame. And the citronella ones burn too fast and liquid. The best ones are the regular paraffin ones.

      The best would be lard or shortening candles. And it’d smell like a cookout the whole time as well lol

    I think Dexter's appearance was more of a cameo rather than starring. LOL, but he's got a good agent to negotiate star billing! :)

    i have never see anyone light it by pulling the glass down!!..i'm a remove the candle,light and replace person but i can see that trick is the way to go.
    i also use the little reflector to block the bright candle flame from my eyes if i'm just using it for general lighting inside my shelter
    some aluminum polish and elbow grease on the "hat" really throws more light down.
    very good short "how to do" thanks.

      Pulling the glass down by your hands leaves oil and dirt on it. It just makes more sense to remove the candle from the bottom to light.

    Where do you find the oil insert? I cannot find anyone who sells them. Where I live the candles are expensive but oil is cheaper and easier to find.

    What is an actual real life burn time on a candle? Also on the oil insert?

    • @bernarddeboeck8405
      @bernarddeboeck8405 4 роки тому +1

      Well, my experience is that it really does burn six or 9 h depending on the candle you bought. Temperature and moist does impact the duration but no too much. I've used it in -12°Celsius with 80% moist and my 9h candle burned 8,5 hours. It is a awesome piece of kit that even warms my tent a bit when i'm awake offcourse!!!

    I thought that the reflector should hang on the glass or the edge on top, that way you don´t have to worry about a hot reflector falls down. I might be wrong thougt.

    • @gijr2003
      @gijr2003 8 років тому +4

      Yes, the reflector hangs from the top.
      Why he thought it should be upside down is beyond me.

    • @Roarmeister2
      @Roarmeister2 7 років тому +6

      Because it works better! Hanging the reflector from the top means it is loose and can fall off easily. If you insert into the slot it fits snugly and the centre of the reflector matches the centre of the flame!
