    According to their websites, the jääkäripuukko is 4,2mm, the M95 is 4,25mm thick, both are made from 80CrV2 carbon steel, with a PTFE-coating on the M95.
    Sadly, the jääkäripuukkos don't come with a stainless steel blade anymore, which I would prefer, living in northern Germany between North- and Baltic Sea.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  Рік тому

      Yeah, also noticed that they dont have the stainless opition. I understand the need for that in wet condition!
      Thx for watching!

    An awesome video and review and I could not agree more. I have both of them and I prefer them for different tasks even though they are great at most things. Usually take the Peltonen on longer trips where I might not have the ability to clean or take care of the blade, the coating protects it from rusting. If I go out for a day I usually bring the Terävä because I think it´s a little better for "bushcraft" with a stronger tip. These two among with Mora and ESEE are my favourite brands when it comes to knives for the outdoor. Would love to see more videos from you :) Best regards from Sweden!

    Hi, these are nice simple knives that I don´t have any experience with, even with the steel you mentioned. Maybe one day, but I´m definitely looking forward to seeing those outdoor tests you will do as you said. Those sheaths were very interesting to me immediately, many of the much more expensive knives should have some like those. Nice video anyway, keep going and have a great time there:-) FM

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  Рік тому +1

      Thanx!! Yeah thoses sheaths are really good, and I haven’t seen these kind of designs elsewhere. The steel is one of my all time favorites. I own many knives with this. And I do own also many knives with supersteels like 3v, cruwear etc. from Bark River and others, and yeah those are great. But for the money, if I would have to choose my favorite steel at the moment, it would be 80crv2.

    😂 I think we have the same knife collection. Nice video I made more or less the same video a couple of years ago. My first video was the Jääkäripuukko mini, the first person to review that one. I have to say that I do like the Peltonen just a tiny bit more. Great fist video, did cut out a little suddenly at the end.

      Have to add also that though I love both of these, Im biased towards Peltonen because In the handle is written my postal code, and the Village Blacksmith whom I know, here in Fiskars still forges some of the blades(at least last time I asked, certainly the smaller ones, though have to double check). Very nice guy.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  Рік тому +1

      Its really great knife.
      I was silly not to mention in the video, that the Peltonen blades are actually still partly forged in the village of Fiskars, where I live. I personally know the blacksmith. And also the designer Peltonen lives here. Its one of the kind of knife capitals of Finland. So Im kind of biased to the Peltonen knife at the end. Also it was also the original. Though the Jääkäripuukko is awesome also..
      Interestingly here in the village museum was an exhibition of the history of knife making by the Fiskars company, and the evolution of Sissipuukko was shown also. If I remember correctly it was shown that the Great Finnish Painter/designer Akseli-Gallen Kallela ( who did the famous Kalevala paintings etc). was also one of the first to draw the early scetches of the Knife for the Fiskars company in the early 19th century.
      Thanx for watching! Kiitos!

      Thx for watching! You cant go wrong with either one. I added some more info the description! Stupid of me I forgot the mention that I actually live in the same village where the Peltonen Sissipuukko was early on forged, and where the company is still located. The smaller version (m7) is still forged by the local village blacksmith (whom I know personally).

    I can find a ton of cons with the Terava, If you're lucky and it didn't come with a very bad heat treatment, it will still have ton of flaws. People nowadays, don't really know knives, neither use them, to see if they where just got into a marketing trap, or they got a tool that can stand on the hype around it. Thank God I'm not alone, there are some people, who know what I'm talking about and can tell a really good knife ,from a shitty one. Of course, this comment has nothing to do with the video or it's creator. I'm referring to all the people out there and on no one in particular.

      @@OldForestBushcraft I haven’t tried the 140 but I am suspecting the 110 is maybe a bit more versatile for general applications due to the shorter blade. The only thing I can immediately see lost with that is perhaps doing ‘pull cuts’ or if you intend to do A LOT of scraping (which would require reprofiling the spine) or ease of minor debranching and light chopping, or batoning in case you are not bringing an axe, htachet or machete … but what you gain with the 110 is probably a more manoeuvrable blade for a variety of tasks.
      I always combine with some type of parang machete so I don’t really need the added length, the function is covered, but would rather have that smaller knife flexibility. Really most of my life I’ve used original wood handled moras for that but I have warmed to the extra heft of the 110 for most things beyond sort of detailed woodcarving.

    • @OldForestBushcraft
      @OldForestBushcraft  Рік тому +1

      I think that the 110 is probably more usable, specially in the set up you have. I use the 140 almost extensively only as my garden knife. For many odd jobs, and making fire at my fire place etc. Its great for that. I dont take it with me.
      My set up changes a bit where im going, but mainly at the moment when Im out in the wilderness nearby (which practically starts from my garden) I’ve been using large Leuku attached to my bagpack and either a neck knife or a normal Puukko or some full tang Belt knife somewhere between 95 cm to 115. @@whynottalklikeapirat
