- I come back home to a very special package and can finally get back to work on the e36. Definitely have big things coming up in the near future so stay tune.

WAR chip is a good option, but I've heard of some people having issues with it. DM Pawinn from IgnitionTube and ask him questions about it, I'm pretty sure he runs a WAR chip. I'm sure he'd be willing to answer questions for you, seems like a nice guy.

Turbo and cheap don't really go together 😉
Save your money and get a wideband and gauge instead of getting the flu straight off, that should be your priority.
With my e36 I did set it up to run off ms2 but it was less experienced at the time with ms so I shelved that for another project and purchased the Miller war chip, there's more tunes available on their forum for boosted cars with bigger injectors. Plus you can use the 3.5" maf from the v8 bmws or a maf from a Porsche turbo, but the m50 maf gets maxed out with boost.
If you decide on ms2 or ms3 you might want to look into knock amplifiers to use you stock sensors.. Or just run it with out then 🤔

Nice I hope you still have this car I just bought a 1997 BMW 328i it has the complete M3 body kit on it and I have already started to build the car this is one of my dream cars
most external wastegate springs lowest setting is 5psi, don't cheap out on fuel management, just get a pnp ecu. save up for an extra month and go tunable ecu, I went band aids when I turboed my miata, and after taking off all the turbo parts and getting a pnp megasquirt, I made more power na with just a decent tune I made myself.

Definetly look up k-datas Ecus. I have an m50 and it's one of the cheapest plug and plays out there
hell yeah!! and alittle advice put a pod filter on the turbo my freinds sucked rocks into his turbine and destroyed it. im thinking about coping another e46 or a e36 soon

I turbo'd my 2000 GS300 over a year ago and still no major problems. The oil feed kept popping off and piss oil everywhere. I drive it hard every time I drive it and makes awesome sounds on 7-9 psi bone stock 2j with a eBay 62/63 turdo lol but it's been holding up good

Glad to hear that you're turboing the 36. You will need a cometic headgasket and some ARP studs. As long as you're looking for 400ish hp, you can keep the stock internals. Also, you can get the stock ECU tuned (at least you can here) but a WAR chip should do it. Lastly, don't turn up the boost too high, 0.6 bar is safe but you can go a little further. Good luck with the build, I think I'll wait to see your results before turboing my m50b25 non vanos xD

I haven't done any research on boosting this particular engine but just to be on the safe side find a forum online and make an account and see what the guys and girls on the forum think and what they have done. 9 times out of 10 you will meet somebody who is willing to lend an ear and give a helping hand

Not sure u will blow ur motor like m3ntal said but pretty sure u will absolutely need a tune for ur car to run properly. Ur Ecu will have no idea what's going on.
Norman Daniels i blew mine ;) even with a stand alone fuel pump went bad leaned out the engine knocked threw a rod ..

Stock M50 injectors will be ok to 220HP. You will have to upgrade to bigger one, at least 440cc (44lb/hr) @ 3bar (~43.5psi) to achieve 350HP an upgrade fuel pump to 044 clone. Also it will be safe if you drop CR to 8.5:1 with sandwich plate(2 gaskets and 0.8mm spacer).

You should really get some sort of tune in it, you could go the "cheap" way and just buy a chip for your ecu with turbo specs. I know a great Swedish site that custom make your chip, for like 200-250$, i can help you translate if you want to. Also, i love your channel and all your videos!

I'm really happy you're doing this turbo build, I have an e36 m3 '99 and i want to turbo it but it is so expensive and I'm in college and I can't afford the standard price, but i also don't want to blow up my car its my daily.

you don't need a tune but you do need an FMU or else you'll lean out and blow. vortech fmu's can be picked up used for like $80
whoops I wrote that before you talked about it. and you can run up to 7psi safely with an fmu. anything above that is dangerous unless you get a megasquirt

I've had 2 turbo e36 M3s and it will not be happy if you run it with out a tune. Buy a war chip and tune it your self if on a budget if not get a tune from rk tunes. Best around. Do the research. Get educated and make it a beast.

Yeah, I picked the car up in rough shape after it had been wrecked. The collision bent the framerails a ton and destroyed pretty much the whole front end. However, the previous owner had the frame professionally straightened to the correct position. Also, the framerails bent before the shock towers so the crash didn't throw off the car's geometry or anything.
buy a kdfi plug and play ecu it plugs right into the stock harness
do you know what maniflod/turbo you got?
no tune will lead u to 2 problems. 1 one is that your car could be over boosted at high rpm. second thing is that your turbo might be turned off by your acu for the most of the time. the thing is that if u put turbo or swap it, it has to be tuned. + tune does not cost too much. atleast in my country its not more then 200e.

If this is some t3 t4 ebay shit wich i think it is considering the exhaust. Please watch video series that shows couple of finnish dudes assempling same tubo on their m52, they have done it to m50 aswell and will help with that too

You neeeeed a tune, or the motor will lean out and cause detonation. Even with an FMU you will get to the point that you want to put more boost into it and it's better to already have a tune ahead of time otherwise you will be out the same amount of money while trying to buy an ECU and you will need to do a rebuild on the motor before turning the boost up as well. Congrats on getting married dude, hope you have fun.
