Scorpion 3 - World's First Hoverbike
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 лют 2025
- The Hoverbike is called Scorpion-3, which merges a standard motorbike design with drone quad-copter technology, to allow riders to manoeuvre in the air as if they were riding a bike.
The Scorpion-3 can carry 104 kg or 229 pounds in weight, while hitting speeds of up to 43 miles per hour and reach an altitude of 33 feet.
This electric bike has a range of 13 miles, with between 20 to 40 minutes of flying time on a single charge, depending on the battery type. It’s batteries can be re-charged in three hours, or they can be swapped out in a minute.
The Dubai Police Force has reportedly tested it for use in monitoring large, highly trafficked areas.
Thanks for watching

★★★ *FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE VIDEO / FACT UPDATES* ★★★
*1) Colin Furze made the hoverbike first* - Common statement, although 100% wrong, propellor hoverbike technology has been around for along time, and Scorpion 3 made their first prototype 1 year before Colin Furze. All Colin furze, did was replicate the technology in a backyard experiment, he did not invent it, nor did he make a saleable version of the bike.
Chris Malloy is developing another Hoverbike and made a prototype 6 years ago in 2012 here is a link - ua-cam.com/video/EpMZBp20JoI/v-deo.html - plus he has a kickstarter page to develop it, here is the Kickstarter Link = www.kickstarter.com/projects/1524806320/hoverbike
So to sum up all Colin Furze did was replicate technology that has been around for along time and he was not the first to make a hoverbike.
*2) The Exposed blades make this bike too dangerous and will never be approved* - You are most likely correct, it will probably never get approved in it's current form with exposed blades, but the bike is deemed an "extreme sports machine" which means it comes with a high level of danger attached to using it. I am sure at some point maybe even now "parachute flight suits" would be considered "extreme" make a small mistake you splat into the ground or a rock, have you seen how close people come to hitting the ground using that suit.
extreme recreational machines & technology always look dangerous, but there will always be people who love the extreme and will buy and use them. But overtime they will make them more user friendly and design them better for the mass market, but always keeping a level of "extreme" in the design.
*3) Why don't they put shrouds or covers over the blades* - for all those that watched the Colin Furze video when he made his backyard version of a hoverbike, you will have seen shrouds make you lose thrust, he had to give rid of his shrouds to make the bike fly. But you could still put a basic wire frame and chicken wire type mesh over the blades, but would be wonky & unstable. I am not an engineer so I do not know the answer, unless you are an engineer neither do you.
*4) $59,000 is too much for that bike* - All new technology starts off expensive, to help cover the design and prototype costs, but over time they refine the product and build it quicker & cheaper, but I doubt the price will ever come down much until they make it safer for the mass market.
5) The video has 2 large chunks edited out of it using UA-cam Video Editor, Storyful claimed the video in 2023 after it had been up on my channel for 5 years, so I either had to edit out 2 chunks or delete the video.
5) I don't care. I still want one.
"Shrouds caused loss of thrust"
Then he did it wrong. Ducted fans have a lot of thrust.
Wonder World you guys do not like Colin furze
no i just don't like idiots who think he was first to make a hoverbike
Wonder World bit harsh calling them idiots.
Fair assumption to assume Colin's was the first if it's the first one you've seen.
Also don't assume you need to be an engineer to know what impact a shroud has on thrust. A little research is all it takes, not a degree.
This is awesome!! Can't wait for a production version to be available. All vehicles started somewhere, this looks like a hell of a start. Only problem, traffic will suck once these are all over the place

@@sentient5765 Dumbass! You for real?
It may add some weight and may affect the performance a little but adding some guards around the propellers similar to how a desk top fan is enclosed in a cage is really all that is needed. With propeller guards added and provided that it is limited to fly about 10 to 15 feet high this hoverbike should be a success. I would buy one!
Who's going to be world's first legless hover bike rider?
Probably me
No legs=less weight=more flight time

Wheelchair users ride specially made bikes don't they? Why deprive a limbless human being of that pleasure?
All of them.
Anyone who has ever had an accident on a motorbike, knows you usually go over the handlbars and onto the ground, but on this bike it's over the handbars and into a meat grinder.
You're right WW. However I understand each hover-bike comes with a 4 tourniquets and morphine capsule. Good to know ;)
$59,000?! COLIN FURZE WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN HIS BACKYARD, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!!
Totally right. I have no idea why all such drone makers making ride able human carrier drones never consider safety first. Look how close the rotors are to the legs. Riding this bike and first accident or crash simply means 100% loss of legs or 80% loss of life :D another 20% well lets not talk about it.

It’s actually pretty cool, of course assuming they put a proper guard on the props. Only thing is what if a prop dies. The props would have to be collective pitch so they can reverse thrust and maintain stability enough to land.
Auto rotation isn't possible you just fall out of the sky.
@@InTheFleshInc I’m not taking about autorotation. I’m talking about a variable pitch prop that can turn its pitch from forward thrust to reverse thrust. The theory being that if one prop dies, then the two outer props can thrust upwards while the third middle one would balance the craft by continuously going from reverse to forward allowing it to land with some stability. It’s just a theory but in theory I think it should work.

Hello friend, that invention is great and safe to place the driver's longest haspas and make it 3 motors. Greetings from Costa Rica.
3 bladed or even 4 bladed propellers 6" or so smaller in diameter would have more thrust and be a bit safer and easier to fit into a shroud ?

2019:
Does it come with a coffin
Jason Blake lol good idea
With the blades exposed like that you won't need a coffin just a bag will do after the blades are done with you...
Just put your leg out when you need balance and then when that's gone use the other leg. Good way to get extra use outta the battery pack, lighten the load.
Of course: I want to fly something that gives the opportunity to accidently fall face-down into four rapidly rotating propellers. What could posslbly go wrong?
Obviously if you have an accident with this thing, you have bigger problems than spinning props. For example there is the problem of falling from the sky...
It slices and dices, and makes julienne fries in seconds.

How can we make a motorcycle more dangerous? We will make it fly!
I think you mean to ask, "How do we make a motorcycle more fun?"
But I have ridden and raced dirt bikes for decades, and I think it may be impossible to make anything more fun that a person drives/rides. When you get good at it, it feels like you are part of the machine, or it feels like a part of you. I don' think you can get that feeling with any other machine we ride/drive. Oh yea. It does not matter what kind of problems you have going on in life. If you can go for a trail ride, it all goes away. Better than a shrink. :)
They're only dangerous if you're stupid. You must be stupid.
They won't b abl 2 fly at the same speed as a bike on the ground. It'll b decades if not centuries b4 that becomes a reality.
Yeah not wrong.

Why? What could possibly go wrong?
Accidents happens without warning.....making many things possibly go wrong....why take such risk....It's a awesome invention but safety should be the first priority..... :)
*Safer than a motorcycle, that's for sure.*
Can't figure out why all of these hoverbikes/craft don't put a protective barrier around the blades. If your leg slips by the blades on this craft, they're sawed off!
well i fly drones and when you have a shroud around the outside you lose 30 to 40 percent of the upward thrust. basically it wouldn't recover from a rapid drop very easy.
Justin is correct shrouds lose thrust
Russell Fine Arts + And roll cages add weight. And helmets add cost.
but whitout cover you lose the legs. What's better???????
Check out Malloy aeronautics, should answer your question on shroud fitment on hoverbikes.

wow only $50,000 to get ripped to shreds the first and last time you screw up. That's what i think everytime i see stuff like this. I'm with you on this, No thanks!
I don't get how people keep asking for prop guards like these things would be flown by anyone who can't fly the thing. Has anyone ever asked for prop guards on an airplane or a helicopter? These machines are meant to be flown by someone responsible enough to not fly near people or in a way that could get people hurt. Yes, it's possible, but it's not meant to. They even sell it as a pure sports machine. Are you going to complain that motorcycles should have seatbelts because you could fall off and hit a pole?
And btw, I once nearly killed a dog because when I parked my plane it came running up to my plane and I was able to shut off the motor in the last second, right before the dog came running right through the prop. That's why not everybody is allowed to fly planes or helicopters and that's why not everyone should be allowed to fly such "hoverbikes". There are enough accidents already because basically everyone is allowed to drive a car. No need for everybody flying around on things that fall from the sky when they hit something.
+The Johnny O Show me will u buy
only carries up to 229 pounds in weight, can't sell much in USA
Also the propeller blades are dangerous if excited or careless kids run up close to it or suddenly run across the street
Or if your legs slip....
Well, the Wright brothers airplane could only go 120 feet when it started and look at airplanes now.
Thankyou that is the level of intelligence and responce I love to see. Simple yet 100% correct.

Exactly that, this prototype will undoubtedly lead to better models being produced, with leaps forward in battery power v size and weight. Look at the first mobile phones, they were not dissimilar to a car battery with a handset on top, look at them now.

Shrouds around propeller blades drastically reduce the thrust they can produce. This is why these machines are just pipe dreams - because the amount of safety needed to make them commercialized would render them useless.
you Can have shrouds, just make them like a cage and not solid...air will pass fine and limbs will be safe

Thực sự rất là ngạc nhiên. Công nghệ thay đổi chóng mặt. Và ngày càng tiện ích.
I don't think the idea will Takeoff.
I'm sure they've already crossed this bridge but I wonder if instead of propellers...replace them with a turbine type of propeller in an enclosure. U could possibly even have each turbine move independently so u could have even better control. It would def be heavier but u could make up the difference with a beefier engine. Theres jet powered motorcycles out there. Why not this??? I know the price would have to raise tho. Just a thought..
Problem is, fuel consumption rises too. These guys already only last 20-40 minutes on a full charge. Also liquid fuel is more expensive, more dangerous, and heavy.
Jet engines are slower to throttle up and down, writing software to control it and keep it stable would be a little more complicated than just upscaling a quadcopter.
That will require engineering skills to make. This version here is just an over sized RC drone with a seat on it, the engineering feat that made quad drones was done by hobbyist years ago and this is just copy/paste.
😎🍸. . keep the propellers but mount them in ducted fan housings. This will increase the efficiency of the propellers and add a degree of safety.
But high velocity winds will smash it to the ground Good for indoors.
Gursharan Dhillon thats pretty unlikely. Even moderately sized quadcopters handle winds very well. This thing is probably very stable.
Do R/C! You may be right.
Gursharan Dhillon the gyroscopic stabilization systems in these types of aircraft are really amazing. They allow flight in conditions that you really wouldn't think possible.
Do R/C! You know about aeronautics.Modern technology may invent cars that will fly in air one day.
Gursharan Dhillon the tech is already pretty much there. This form factor scales pretty well. Cost and infrastructure are the limiting factors I think. I'm bout expert though. Just an aviation and RC enthusiast.
We are ready to buy...launch it into market:)
