If legacy automakers do not heed the winds of change they can jolly well join the ranks of famous brands in the past who made it to the grave in double quick time. For example Kodak, Nokia, Motorola and Blockbuster.
Good video Sam. Keep them coming. ‘Legacy’ car makers absolutely knew that this COULD happen, but chose the well tried method of ‘denial’. Even those who knew what to do, for the continuance of their company were ousted because their words were unpopular. I’m thinking of VW’s Herbert Diess (spelling?). Mary Barra, on the other hand told lies again and again, took a big salary and hollowed-out GM, etc etc etc. Absolutely classic disruption, a repeat of Kodak, Nokia and the Cathode Ray Tube (from various manufacturers). The good names will be Chinese owned by 2030, the rest will fall into the history books. However, a brilliant time to be around and in any of the new industries. So much growth, so many possibilities, so much old stuff being swept away. Wish I was starting out again…

@@fullrulle77 I personally don’t think that will be the case because electric car, specifically battery and manufacturing technologies are developing very fast. It’s like a smartphone, after a year or two your phone is already dated. The difference is though, while new phones are getting more expensive, electric cars will be becoming cheaper, go farther, and charge faster. China is a perfect example of that. But, who knows.
Generally a False statement! EV sales continue to grow HOWEVER, the RATE of growth has slowed. If you expected to sell 150 more doodads in 10 days but it took you 20 days, your sales rate is down but your sales numbers are the same. Oversimplified, I know.

Are you talking about gasoline cars. You’re not a kind of get even seven years out of the battery. In the United States electric cars come with an 8year 100,000 mile warranty.
Santa Monica California has the highest number of EVs in the country by far. Teslas are everywhere. ICE dealership and gas stations are super empty. I saw a Tesla pull up to Exxon but it was just to buy a water bottle. This will probably be the first place in the US to see gas stations close down.
Hi Sam, good video and blessings to you and your family. You are stating the facts as they are: the old legacy makers are doomed if they survive they will be much smaller companies than their former selves. Like jaguar, Lotus, and McLaren. They will no longer be mainstream makers unless the brand name is taken over by a Chinese or Korean brand. MG's name is now a viable brand in the UK with good vehicles, shame the corrupt politicians are slapping a huge tariff on them. As a comparison you can now buy a new small Vauxhall Corsa EV for £20k if you shop around, or you can buy a new MG 5 ESTATE with a 61 kw battery or the MG SUV EV For the same £20k! It's a buyers market. It's such a shame there are so many Muppets around spreading lies about EVs! You can see by their stupid comments they have never driven one! But I'm seeing more and more EVs on the road in the UK despite all this bile because people who can afford to buy a car are starting to do so the sums and realising the truth.
My neck would hurt after bus riding because i was amazed to see what you say. VW and luxury brands abound, but they are 2 years and older. EVa are all new, silky- smooth, exiting, and pervasive in the cities.
Just as there are steam-train enthusiasts, the same will apply to ICE vehicles. You'll see them gathering at annual picnic days and the like. Of course, the petrol or diesel engined vehicle is doomed. One wonder what going to happen to all those millions of car bodies!
well the Chinese domestic EV market evolves every single day because of the hypercompetitive nature of emerging companies there, keep in mind that they have atleast 500M middle-class citizens in there
Do not be enamored by Chinese technical progress as it's not natural but propped up unnaturally by the government. Same with Norway, they force the population over on EVs because they subsidize them with 25% VAT exemption, making gasoline cars way more expensive. The truth is that second-hand gasoline and diesel cars have shot up in price as you can't even buy them new in dealerships. While used EVs just plummet in price as new battery technology makes them obsolete. Is this kind of economy and totalitarian system you want to live in with no choice of your own?
Why can't the "rich" and "developed" west also prop up their car industries to compete against Chinese affordable EV? The people would love "subsidized" cars I'm sure of it.
Tesla is actually more subsidized by the US government than BYD is by the Chinese government. China gave BYD $3.7B in subsidies. US gave Tesla $2.8B in subsidies plus $467M in federal loans and bailouts plus $9B in federal carbon credits. BYD sells more cars than Tesla does, so the discrepancy is even larger on a per car basis.

I’m in Northern China Changchun. Unfortunately people still don’t quite trust EVs given the severe winters. I have a rich friend who just bought a Ford Lincoln for RMB450k or about $65000. It’s still cheap compared to North America where the same car would probably cost $100k.
Seems that you did not watch the video. 🤷 ICE car dealers are making huge losses. Not EV dealers.
EV doesn't need to completely replace ICE.
EV only needs to occupy a part of the market share, which is enough to bankrupt some arrogant ICE manufacturers.
Is there any Australian ev company ?
Australia doesn't do manufacturing.
Yeah one. Ace-ev.
Viking EV start up
Legacy Auto needs to think 10% or less market share in China going forward and plan accordingly
Chuna shoyld follow west trade war , tariff , sanctions against all western vehicles ., fair .
Don't know if it is just legacy auto. China is a shark tank. Quiet a bit of ev producers went bancrupt recently and with it their distribution system
EVs in the US depreciate way faster than ice cars. My wife’s 2 year old MYP depreciated by about $22k. My 1 year old M3P lost about $17k in value. Kia stinger that drove for 3 years, I sold for only $15k less than what I paid for it brand new. If we talk resale value, electric cars are a much bigger pit than ice
Yes, right now, but in a few years it will probably be the other way around.
If this trend keeps going, ICE vehicles will lose 90% of their resale value
@@fullrulle77 I personally don’t think that will be the case because electric car, specifically battery and manufacturing technologies are developing very fast. It’s like a smartphone, after a year or two your phone is already dated. The difference is though, while new phones are getting more expensive, electric cars will be becoming cheaper, go farther, and charge faster. China is a perfect example of that. But, who knows.
You sold none of these cars because you never owned a battery electric vehicle.
Also: only idiots would sell a BEV that is 1 to 5 years old.
Don't sell - not hard is it?
EV sales in the US are tanking.
ICE sales in the US are tanking.
Generally a False statement! EV sales continue to grow HOWEVER, the RATE of growth has slowed. If you expected to sell 150 more doodads in 10 days but it took you 20 days, your sales rate is down but your sales numbers are the same. Oversimplified, I know.
Ignorance is a helluva drug!
I am by no means in love with EVs or anything, but where China and Norway are going, the rest of the (developed and middle income) world will go.
And that is a good thing. Imagine, say, New Delhi or a Mumbai with Tata and/or foreign EVs. Better air quality. Less noise etc etc. A big potential win.
They'll still have horns.
Battery replacement in 22 percent of the car in 7 years so resale is not really good
Fud
Are you talking about gasoline cars. You’re not a kind of get even seven years out of the battery. In the United States electric cars come with an 8year 100,000 mile warranty.
I agree they are all doomed I tell you cheers bro
how many these auto maker are in China nobody should be surprise these cheap ev will buried these ice cars.
Morning bro
Morning
My neck would hurt after bus riding because i was amazed to see what you say. VW and luxury brands abound, but they are 2 years and older. EVa are all new, silky- smooth, exiting, and pervasive in the cities.
I like my daily dose of electric propaganda. But I wonder why would you lick the arse of EV manufacturers .
Legacy auto dealers wanted this, recall your video on how they're not excited to sell EVs, it's a vicious cycle, straight down the drain
I better have a chat to my uncle he has a porsche in his garage that he thinks will go up in price
This guy hate Porsche 😂😂
And if he were to like Porsche, they would have been sold the most in China. "True statement."
I once owned a Porsche and all four catalytic converters blew up $ thousands to repair ! Why bother 😂
All very expensive luxury cars lose all their value very quickly.
From Chinese car buyer's perspective, Porsche is the only luxury brand that has some EVs that are not trash.
Just as there are steam-train enthusiasts, the same will apply to ICE vehicles. You'll see them gathering at annual picnic days and the like. Of course, the petrol or diesel engined vehicle is doomed. One wonder what going to happen to all those millions of car bodies!
The problem will be it will get harder and harder for them to find fuel, probably just a few specialist places.
Most car are still ICE. EV sales are tanking in Europe and in the US. Diesel cars are making a come back. Strange but true...
You PROMISED to shut down your channel if Tesla fired thousands of staff. We haven't forgotten.
Why are you still here?
Maybe legacy automakers could add a hybrid solution to cars that don't sell and then relabel them as electric. People are dumb enough to buy them
How can all these Chinese EV companies survive ? Risky buying from any of those.
well the Chinese domestic EV market evolves every single day because of the hypercompetitive nature of emerging companies there, keep in mind that they have atleast 500M middle-class citizens in there
look like no one will buy ICE car by 2030 in China.
Chinese government would bail them out. Look at BYD. They're not going anywhere.
@@jxmai7687may be earlier than 2030! considering it is VERY difficult or a More than 5 years wait to obtain car driver license for ICE cars!
Short answer, they don't. Almost all will go bankrupt. Some may continue as zombie companies propped up by local government subsidies.
Without subsidies from the US government, GM would have gone bankrupt in 2009.
Just stay in North Pole.
@@theinfralink6598 And just stay a zombie without a thought of your own.
Chinese customers will determine who survives domestically & later the world
Jai Hind. All the corporations whether state or private are making massive losses. We Indians are watching not if but when China will collapse as doomsayers had predicted for so long.
They were asking to be disrupted! Sitting back being fat and happy not innovating. They didn’t to themselves.
Has China got plans to phase out ICE vehicles?, when?
Up to now, China has not officially announced that it will ban the sale of fuel vehicles in 2035.
China has plans to phase out pure ICEVs, but not PHEVs. However even without the plans ICEVs are dropping out of favor in the market. In recent auto shows in China very few new ICEV models were released.
2035 like California but it's going much quicker probably by 2030
So did you hear? Elon is firing 10% of teslas employees. He’s looking to save some more money.
Sucks that people are losing their jobs by showing up for work and being told they are fired.
We’ve known about this since April. What’s the point?
BYD had to ask and got financial assistance from the Chinese government in February and March.
FUD
please learn how to pronounce PORSCHE or stop saying it. It heats my ears everytime you deface this name.
Porridge? 😂
why so mad? take it easy! Not every body speaks German!
Porridge
Oh Germans only like Americans 🤪
@@alexhu7939 it's just THE NAME of the company (and the family) how hard is it to learn 1 name when you say this name 20 times in 1 video? If anyone in germany would say any english or french name the way it would be pronounces in german - everybody would call this person very stupid.
Thats normal, thats called competition, stronger and better ones survives
Which are Tesla and Chinese ev manufacturers
Other economies; Germany/SKorea/...US have other industries, but Japan is going to die w/o exporting cars. Much worse than Fukushima. Sandy' Munro @MunroLive was there personally several years ago when Xi told Chinese manufacturers/dealers that 75% of them would die by 2025. The plans for the survivors is already written. Who's gonna do domestic, exports, Asia, Europe, etc. It seems like a free-for-all now, but there will be maybe 10 survive; BYD, Zeeker, Geely, Xpeng, Li, SIAC...and Tesla, unless Musk tries his "free speech" in China🫣😂
