I thought It was only me but I feel better to know there is someone else who likes to watch or hear the tv while sewing. I am not weird... thank GOD! 😊😊
And there I was, complaining that my 1000 sq ft apartment is not big enough for 2 people living (and working) comfortably AND me sewing! Thanks for the inspiration and motivation
This is amazing! Whenever I look for solutions and ideas for small spaces, the space is never actually *small*, it's always what I would consider a medium sized space. I live at my dad's house but my actual living space in my room is 3m x 3m, and as someone who has a lot of hobbies and without space outside of my room for things like my desk or storage, this was lovely to see! I love that built-in table so much, too.
Hello Emily, you will never know how much this video changed my life. I have been struggling since May 2020 when I started sewing because I live in a little house, 1675 S/F living space, and I don't have space for a sewing area, (We are a 8 members family). I am so much in love with sewing that I started really looking into selling my house to buy a bigger one, getting heart broken because it is simply not doable. I will use a 6" straight wall in the dinning room to accommodate the sewing and the embroidery machines, also the computer, it must be there because I have to watch videos on UA-cam so I can sew, and eventually a serge machine, and the closet under the stairs will be the storage space for all my sewing supplies. Thank you very much, from the bottom of my heart and God bless you always. Stay safe. THANK YOU UA-camRS FOR MAKING A DIFERENCE ON OTHER PEOPLES LIFES. From California USA.
Sandra I love this so much! So glad it was inspiring for you! We’ve really had to learn the meaning of the old adage “life is what you make it”; hope to see what you’re able to create in your space sometime!
Oh my gosh, this brought back memories! Years ago I sewed many of my own clothes...and we lived in 240 sq. ft. (A travel trailer as my husband’s job was mobile.). I handled my supplies pretty much like you do. Loved it and didn’t think of it as inconvenient. Fast forward after 38 years in a house and we have retired and happily downsized to a 400 sq. ft. rv. I haven’t pared down enough of my supplies and fabric stash that accumulated all those years though. Your video reminded me that it was so much simpler when I had just the machine, a sewing box and few yards of extra fabric, so I’m encouraged to work toward that end. Thank you Emily! You and your home are both adorable.👍😊
You're right. Now that I'm in a house with more space than the apartment, I've accumulated too much stuff, and I don't have time to start and finish a project. This last year 2020, working from home, I was able to finally resize some of the oversize clothes I bought because I loved the print and it was an amazingly low price (cheaper than buying the fabric).
Love the wall paper in the house! Sewing Tip for Masks - Replace elastic with strips of t-shirt/jersey knit. Just cut a strip of jersey knit at least 3/4 inch wide with the grain and pull the ends, voila, you have stretchy comfy string for elastic and drawstrings!
I sew aboard my 35 ft sailboat anchored out in a harbour. I had a small honda generator that was in the dingy and I would run an extension cord. I sewed my clothes and canvas splash cloths 4 for the boat. Then we finally got moorage & I continued to sew my clothes. I put everything away every night. It is amazing what 1 can do in a small space
I think I have you beat lol 😆 I am a full time RV’er in a 22’ leisure Travel Van. And my Babylock goes everywhere I go. I actually paired down a lot of clothes and stuff in order to keep all my sewing and crafty things in my van.
Oh well done. Great video and cute little house. When we lived on a narrowboat onthe UK canals, 5’8” wide by 60’ long, I sewed standing up at the kitchen work top and cut out in the very narrow walk through corridor. It worked fine if I tidied up constantly 😊
Hi Suzanne, I’m in Georgia USA, but discovered several youtube UK narrowboat vlogs a few months ago and have been fascinated by them ever since! I am subscribed to five of the vlogs and check out several others periodically. They are my go-to entertainment almost every evening. Would love to vacation on one and cruise that beautiful country. We are full time rvers in a fairly spacious 37 ft. fifth wheel, but i also sewed a ton when we lived in an 8’x30’ (no slideouts) fifth wheel. Yes, we can make whatever we have work for us.
Emily! Just found your channel, and you’re a wonderful inspiration. I will be moving to the SF Bay Area for a job change and will not be able to afford the 2 bedroom apartment in which I currently live. I’ve been dreading how am I going to enjoy the 2 things I absolutely love in my life: sewing and playing piano. Living in 1 bedroom apartment and playing piano most likely will disturb my neighbors, so as costly as it is, I’m having a “silencer” mechanism installed so I can play piano using headphones (when the silencer is disengaged, the piano will still be an acoustic piano). As a cellist, you know how important music is in one’s life, and I’m very inspired from your video to keep sewing as well. Thank you so much. Blessings! 😊🙏🏾
I started sewing while living with my parents as a teenager. My bedroom was my sewing room, so i get a small space. Your tiny house is darling. You keep it nice and clean.
Would love to see ur exterior... if the courtyard is a space u can garden or even sew out there, ...give a good visual of what ur space overall! Great minimalist inspiration too, aside from adjusting to small space. The basket seems to be the quiet hero in this hobby venture. ...bless the space that holds all the notions. 😋
Emily, you can make any space work with intentionally like you stated . You have made a cozy loving home for your self & hubby. I started a quilting fabric stash and after 20 yrs I had to stop buying and start using up my stash and only buy what I needed to complete a project. And what I have found is that fabric scraps multiply:) lol!!! Blessings to you and your family for 2021!!!
I truly admire how you make it work. There was about 10 years that I had to sew in a laundry room and use my kitchen counter for cutting out so I can always work if you truly want to do it
You have a beautiful home!! It's amazingly tidy too ☺......I have managed to sort out half a spare room to set up my table with sewing machine, cricut etc so it will do for now....I'm waiting for my craft shed, one day 🙄
It's so organised! I love your tiny house and how you've decorated it. I'm going to start learning to sew and live in a small studio apartment so this was really great. Thank you!
Great video! I love your tiny sweet home. I live with family and have a small bedroom. I often struggle to organize my sewing space. Your video has given me ideas. I'm going to try some this week while it rains! Urgh! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for sharing, I am a quilter and I am looking into buying a tiny house. But I have hoards of fabric and tools. But you have inspired me. Thank you
I can totally relate. We are full time RV'ers. I had a huge sewing room in our house, with everything I could ever wish for in a sewing room. But!!!!!! We wanted to travel, so that meant downsizing. I kept my sewing machine and some basic supplies, very basic! I have the same love for watching TV as I sew. I can't use a large ironing board but I do have a tiny tabletop one. I use our bed with a cutting board for laying out and cutting. Definitely have to keep up with the pins and needles. Out of everything I had to get rid of, I miss my dress form and my serger. I sold one and gave the other to my daughter. Been thinking very seriously about repossesing it from her. So far 3 years on the road and sewing in our class A motorhome has been working out loved your video and I will subscribe so I can see how you are doing with your sewing in a small place. ✌🏾
You have such a lovely place! And so organized! I have a small bedroom for all my things, so I divide my sewing suplies in a similar way. And I totally agree, I'd rather put my machine away everytime and not having all around several days! Thanks for sharing!
Love how you make your tiny home space work. It's cozy and well organized without the glitch and glamour of organizational gizmos. Your video is an inspiration!!
Besides sewing how bout take us along on ur cello talent! Tiny space day to day living is interesting as well! Organization skills are very needed in my life also! You have a very uplifting voice and personality glad I came across your Chanel🤗
This 'tour' has confirmed I'd better stay in my 4 bedroom house. My sewing room is larger than your whole tiny house. But, I must admit it's so cute! Do you really have space for hubby? I think you are very brave to whittle down your living space to this extent. But, you're still young enough to expand in the future...Thanks for sharing.
Hi Emily! I think your space looks great. I have 728sf and doesn't seem to be enough. You've given me some ideas on what I should do to have more space, I really need to reorganize. Thank you enjoyed your video
For anyone wondering about cutting large patterns: in my teeny tiny room I usually smooth out as much of the fabric as possible, then fold the rest on one side. I draw the pattern out, moving the fabric as I go, and then cut everything together. Not ideal as a huge table/floor, but I make it work!
Oh, your lovely house reminds me of one magical word - "quaint"! Thank you for sharing, I'm also living in a small apartment with tons of sewing materials 😅 cheers from Malaysia!
I have a 280 sq ft flat and the thing that saves me is the Ikea Norden gate leg table. it doubles as a dining table and fully extended, is about 60" but converts to 10" of width.
I love your house. It was very warm, cozy and inviting. I need to take lessons on keeping my sewing space to a minimum. I look forward to your next video.
Thank you so much! I live in a 1 bedroom unit, which would be nearly 3 times as big as yours, AND it has a small room at the other end which is supposed to be my craft room. I am ashamed to say it is a pigsty at the moment, because of all my crafts (sewing, art, papercrafts, macrame, you name it), as well as photos & other things from my past life. I live alone, no pets, & somehow I have GOT to get sorting!!!
Looks like your house has a lot of great storage space! I used to live in a 288 sqft house with my husband and it was the biggest pain for sewing, we didn't have any cupboards or closets.
Omgee!!! I live in a tiny house, too! It’s a challenge for sure, especially since what I love to make are quilts. Not much place to spread out for sure!
Love this! It really puts thong in perspective on what you need. Goodness, yoir use of space is very practical. Makes me want to destash... perhaps a New Years resolution 🤔?
I thought my house was tiny! You are so well organised, I wish I was the same! I started to learn to play a cello years ago but I got married and moved away. I did, however, already play in a brass band. A tuba because I am profoundly deaf but can feel the notes from such a large instrument. I have retired from banding after 60 years but still enjoy playing a euphonium though the notes are a bit high for me. Have you made a video of you playing? I'd love to see it and all your sewing of course!
I hope for your neighbours they are also deaf ,I would hate to live next door to someone like you many many years ago I lived in a room in shared accommodation and the woman in the next room played the screeching violin until on two occasions left her violin in the communal lounge whilst she gone out the bow was broken by me on both occasions and the last time she actually left it in the hallway And was sleeping off a hangover and it was bin collection day when the bin men weren't afraid to take all rubbish away I put it on top of the bin and marked the word rubbish on its case I watched from my room whilst the bin men chuck it in the back of the truck oh boy did it make some horrible sounds whilst being crushed she never played a musical instruments again whilst I lived there and our landlady said it was her own fault for leaving it laying around
You have more space than I & my hubby life in (were in a 180 sqft motorhome as full time rvers) and I still love our space and have worked out how I work all my crafts. I do sewing, crochet, embroidery/counted cross stitch and jewelry making.
I would love to know your storage ideas. I'm moving into my Rv which is 30'. I quilt, crochet, sew and craft. Lots of books. Im sorting thru my home and putting what I think I cant live without into the RV but I would love to hear your ideas.
My hubby added a upper kitchen cabinet next to our dresser and I have my sewing tools, patterns,... In half of it and the tools & supplies for my jewelry making in the other half. The cutting board is in the closet, the sewing machine sits under my vanity and the extra fabrics I collect (only what will fit into a plastic zippered bag that held a queen size bedding set!) is stored under the bed (typically storage area in motorhomes) I have books (basic ones for reference for the crafts, personal reading and history-reference books for travel) stored in a small built in cabinet in our bedroom & the cookbooks I do have (only basic & special ones) stored in an over the sofa cabinet in the living room (it only takes up 1/3 of the whole cabinet) Hope this helps - just remember, you can always find supplies on the road!
🥰 Cool. After we got married, my husband & I lived in 400 sf with a baby and no vertical storage. (People would ask what my nursery theme was-“the room where we keep the baby” was the usual response. Or “the living room.”) Your setup is much nicer.
behind your sewing machine where you have the masks hanging you could actually put a hanging ironing board that simply folds down from the wall. very convenient. or if you never iron anything large they make an ironing surface out of a wooden t.v. tray you can see them on utube vidios. do you have room for a hassick to put your feet on while watching t.v.? if so you can get one that has storage inside of it for material, fusing interfacing ect. or if you have a coffee table they have them that have insides with tons of room too. lots and lots of options. I like to sit and just watch utube vidios on small spaces and see how other people use spaces and you would be surprised what you could come up with. another one is rv storage they have tons of ideas for storage that would apply to you also. good luck
I always used a folding cardboard pattern cutting board. (I just looked and the one at Joann’s is a Dritz “Superboard”.) Mine is thick corrugated cardboard and unfolds to make about 3’x5’ fairly solid work surface laid out on my bed or on a table (or an ironing board?). I used scissors to cut my patterns out, but a person could put a self-healing mat on top of it and to be able to use a rotary cutter. It folds up to about 1 1/2” thick and stores easily standing up against one side of my closet wall without taking up hardly any room. Hope this helps someone.😊
@@barbarastraley7608 I forgot about those. At the present time I'm a bit limited on space too so I may have to pickup one of those. Thanks for the reminder.
When I lived in a tiny apartment, I bought a fold-up cardboard cutting board, I covered it in clear laminating plastic, and put it on the bed to cut out patterns :-)
Ok this is great. We downsized so I’m looking for options for my sewing machine. One Q: Where do you store your husband’s stuff. Tiny house living is fascinating.
@@emilysuprunowski7258 I would also be interested in any ideas for those of us with creaky knees and backs. I love the idea of tiny houses, but my hobbies of historical costuming, weaving and antique books takes up so much space. :) And I'm a single layer cutter for better control.
i was thinking that too - i don't live in a tiny house but spaces in london are so SMALL they're not far off tiny houses but 6x the price. i'm lucky in my current space i have a desk and some floor space but even with that i struggle.
I couldn’t do it in that space. I sew pretty much everyday. I’ve been sewing since I was a teenager and now I’m over 60. I make large bed sized quilts. My sewing room now is 7’x10’ with slanted ceiling from roofline which is small but functional.
I love your house. I wish i could live in a house like that since i only have little stuff but then came my husband and 4 kids. So.... thats that. 😅😂 we need a medium size house since im the only one who is vacuum-ing the house and our current home is my inlaws house so its kinda big so im not really fond with it. 😚
Oh Em gee. Here I am over here complaining about finding enough space to sew in an 800sqft tiny home. Bless you!
I would need the whole House just for my Fabric!

Your tiny space is well thought out! Kudos to you and your hubby!
Your home is really adorable!!
Sewing, quilting here in 120 sq ft TH. And knitting, crochet, reading, wood working too.
So happy to find you🙋♀️
I sew aboard my 35 ft sailboat anchored out in a harbour. I had a small honda generator that was in the dingy and I would run an extension cord. I sewed my clothes and canvas splash cloths 4 for the boat. Then we finally got moorage & I continued to sew my clothes. I put everything away every night. It is amazing what 1 can do in a small space
I will never whinge about my space again! A hoarding quilter, me! Am so impressed with the way you and the family manage. Such a tonic! Thank you.
You really utilized your space very well and tastefully styled. I love how you incorporated your plants in your space. Excellent job, My Friend.
I started sewing while living with my parents as a teenager. My bedroom was my sewing room, so i get a small space. Your tiny house is darling. You keep it nice and clean.

Being intentional about what you sew, wise words ✨
Love how you made the tiny home so cozy
Emily, you can make any space work with intentionally like you stated . You have made a cozy loving home for your self & hubby. I started a quilting fabric stash and after 20 yrs I had to stop buying and start using up my stash and only buy what I needed to complete a project. And what I have found is that fabric scraps multiply:) lol!!! Blessings to you and your family for 2021!!!
This is encouraging because I live in a 328 sq ft studio apartment!
I truly admire how you make it work. There was about 10 years that I had to sew in a laundry room and use my kitchen counter for cutting out so I can always work if you truly want to do it
I live and craft in a small space with children! Definitely doable and helps to limit my purchases to the projects on hand.
You have a beautiful home!! It's amazingly tidy too ☺......I have managed to sort out half a spare room to set up my table with sewing machine, cricut etc so it will do for now....I'm waiting for my craft shed, one day 🙄
What a brilliant use of space and it looks so lovely 💝. It just goes to show that if your organised that you don't need masses of space 👍😁👌💝
Very cute nice little place . Have a nice time sewing . Happy New Year!
Getting ready to set up area in our tiny 16 ft camper always heard if there a will there away cute home..!

I used to quilt as well. You can always put your quilt frame on pulleys and when you aren’t using it pull it
Up to the ceiling.
What a lovely home and still a washer dryer despite the small size.

“Quaint” is one of my favorite words! Thank you!
Thanks for showing your set up. I have too much fabric and my sewing gear is spread out.
Needed inspiration!
well organized, keep sewing

Lovely, well-designed home! 😀

The cutting board is in the closet, the sewing machine sits under my vanity and the extra fabrics I collect (only what will fit into a plastic zippered bag that held a queen size bedding set!) is stored under the bed (typically storage area in motorhomes)
I have books (basic ones for reference for the crafts, personal reading and history-reference books for travel) stored in a small built in cabinet in our bedroom & the cookbooks I do have (only basic & special ones) stored in an over the sofa cabinet in the living room (it only takes up 1/3 of the whole cabinet)
Hope this helps - just remember, you can always find supplies on the road!
🥰 Cool. After we got married, my husband & I lived in 400 sf with a baby and no vertical storage. (People would ask what my nursery theme was-“the room where we keep the baby” was the usual response. Or “the living room.”) Your setup is much nicer.
Very nice!
Oh my word. It IS a teeny house. Very organised though as I guess it has to be.
behind your sewing machine where you have the masks hanging you could actually put a hanging ironing board that simply folds down from the wall. very convenient. or if you never iron anything large they make an ironing surface out of a wooden t.v. tray you can see them on utube vidios. do you have room for a hassick to put your feet on while watching t.v.? if so you can get one that has storage inside of it for material, fusing interfacing ect. or if you have a coffee table they have them that have insides with tons of room too. lots and lots of options. I like to sit and just watch utube vidios on small spaces and see how other people use spaces and you would be surprised what you could come up with. another one is rv storage they have tons of ideas for storage that would apply to you also. good luck
Beautifully designed and well organized thanks for the ideas and techniques love your tiny house 👏👏
Well oragnised ur SWEET. HOME ,ILiked from INDIA❤
We share a lot in common. Thank you so very much.
Adorable house but I'm still curious as to how you lay out and cut large pattern pieces.
Yes, I'm curious about that too.
Probably takes moving some furniture and using floor space!
Lovely little house. But i hear you about sewing in a small space.
Ok this is great. We downsized so I’m looking for options for my sewing machine. One Q: Where do you store your husband’s stuff. Tiny house living is fascinating.
No one has Asked. What type of Babylock do you own? Please reply. Thanks for the tour it was a special introduction to your hobby ❤️
I was wondering how you set up to layout and cut out your fabric, especially for larger projects.
I m wondering the same thing.
Definitely gets a bit chaotic! Thanks for a new video idea 😉
Very cute Tiny House
Nice area.
I couldn’t do it in that space. I sew pretty much everyday. I’ve been sewing since I was a teenager and now I’m over 60. I make large bed sized quilts. My sewing room now is 7’x10’ with slanted ceiling from roofline which is small but functional.
Love your wallpaper in your bathroom, can you share were you got it?
Very nice and organized
I love your house. I wish i could live in a house like that since i only have little stuff but then came my husband and 4 kids. So.... thats that. 😅😂 we need a medium size house since im the only one who is vacuum-ing the house and our current home is my inlaws house so its kinda big so im not really fond with it. 😚
I love your tiny house ❤️
How did you find this delightful space to live?! Never mind! I just saw your other video about this very topic!
Have you thought about buying an ottoman storage bed. You can get an amazing amount of stuff stored in them x
My entire living room is my sewing space. I am very organized. I have enough space in the middle of the room, so I can lay out a queen size quilt.
