Joaquin's Joker and Heath's Joker stand completely on their own as incredible portrayals of the same villain under different lenses. I feel very fortunate to have been able to watch Joker on its opening night; it was an incredible film, which left us all in awe and made us question our own moral compasses.

Its amazing when you think what JP did had to follow Heathes Joker (a daunting task) and yet he somewhow bossed it and also won an Award for it! And this speech! My respect for JP just sky rocketed.
It's because Joaquin has never been a fan of award shows. He has always cared more about the craft and being a serious artist. So he was always flippant about these award shows. However, in recent years, he's let his guard down - and is able to enjoy them as a celebration of what he and his co-workers do. There is still an element of award shows he doesn't like - clearly. But that's why instead of soaking up all the attention, he likes to use his spotlight to highlight all the nominees. You can tell he GENUINELY loves film, and watched every other performance nominated. So his compliments were from the heart and for his live of the craft.
I was so f**king happy, that he won the Oscar for Best Actor as Joker, he did such a phenomenal job another amazing actor who doesn't get a lot of credit. In 2009 Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Role for the exact same character, Ledger left a crack in the door and Phoenix kicked the door open to win the award. I know it's now 2022 and not 2019 but again Congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix you deserve it.

Its amazing when you think what JP did had to follow Heathes Joker (a daunting task) and yet he somewhow bossed it and also won an Award for it!

My respect for JP just sky rocketed.
It's because Joaquin has never been a fan of award shows. He has always cared more about the craft and being a serious artist. So he was always flippant about these award shows. However, in recent years, he's let his guard down - and is able to enjoy them as a celebration of what he and his co-workers do.
There is still an element of award shows he doesn't like - clearly. But that's why instead of soaking up all the attention, he likes to use his spotlight to highlight all the nominees. You can tell he GENUINELY loves film, and watched every other performance nominated. So his compliments were from the heart and for his live of the craft.

I was so f**king happy, that he won the Oscar for Best Actor as Joker, he did such a phenomenal job another amazing actor who doesn't get a lot of credit. In 2009 Heath Ledger won Best Supporting Role for the exact same character, Ledger left a crack in the door and Phoenix kicked the door open to win the award. I know it's now 2022 and not 2019 but again Congratulations to Joaquin Phoenix you deserve it.
This is how to win gracefully. Sometimes how you win is more important than how you lose; it shows you are judging and being judged by your performance, not you as a person .

I’ve grown to love Joaquin the older I’ve gotten. Rewatched Signs and he’s hilarious in it. Humble and down to earth as it gets for an actor
