    Another great video. As I prepare to modify my JK I find your entire video collection to be of great benefit. I hope your sponsors realize what a great sales tool your instructional videos are. Also the two of you come across as a great team! Thanks much!

      Thanks, Joe! Some of these videos are coming out super late, but we want to share every modification that we make as we go! Thanks for following along. We appreciate it! 🤗

    I always enjoy your videos; keep them coming. One point I'd encourage you to cover as it relates to synthetic rope winch line in particular, is that a proper installation really should have the rope pre-tensioned under the vehicle's weight. It looked like you hand tensioned most of the rope. The first layer of wraps (those with the heat shield) should be hand tight as should the last 10 to 12 feet or so. But the rest of the rope needs tension under the vehicle's weight, ideally with a slight uphill incline, to prevent damage to the rope during recovery.
    In my area of town there's a old, empty parking lot with concrete pillars at the end of a nice, gradual uphill incline that gives me 100 feet with room to spare. Any time I wash debris off my rope, I drive to that lot and use the pillars as an anchor so I can properly pre-tension the rope. Adding the vehicle's weight works like a charm, and it'll make for much more concentric wraps as well.
    The issue with not having enough pre-tension is that, once you're in a recovery situation, you add tremendous tension to the section of line that's unspooled, but the spooled line is "loose" in comparison to the pressure the vehicle is putting on the system as a whole. The unspooled line, not having equal tension on the drum (as compared to the line doing the work) is what ends up causing the inner wraps to get crushed, as you pointed out.
    Great material as always! Y'all need to plan a CrawlTV wheeling trip Colorado...

      Hey Tyler! Definitely!!! We try to keep the videos short and decided that would be a great video to cover all by itself! We pre-tensioned the Winch rope before our first wheeling trip and re-spooled it. Your comment is full of awesome information that pertains to that procedure though. We just hooked up to a tree at the end of our driveway. It’s a very slight grade so it worked great. Thanks for the comment and we definitely do need to plan a trip to Crawlorado! We passed through on the Trail to SEMA but we definitely want to go back and see more!

    Thanks for the detail on how the bolts attach the fairlead to the face of the winch plate as well as the detail on the bolts attaching the winch to the winch plate.

    Dang guys you’re install videos are straight up pro. I think these companies need to hire you guys to do install videos for their products. Love the Winch wish we could’ve afforded synthetic when we got our Winch but I figured I could always change it out. Appreciate the mall crawler tip even though I don’t mall crawl I’ve never had to use my winch so it looks like a mall crawler ha ha great stuff guys

    Anybody noticed the grass in the beginning of the video was green and at the end of the video was brown. Sure took a long time to record that.

      We installed the Winch and bumper at the same time. Just look at how long ago that video was posted. The intro and outro were filmed yesterday... We’re just catching up on posting some videos 😜

    On thing you guys might consider in the future.... I put a 200amp marine manual circuit breaker in line with my hot line. I use it as a switch, so the winch doesn't have any power to it until I pop the hood and flip the breaker on... It's never tripped on me in use, and it's good peace of mind that I don't have this always hot 12v line on the bumper. This is the one I am using:

      o3djeeps [ OVERCLOCK3D Jeeps ] what does it hurt having constant power to your recovery device all the time?

    • @christophermichaelson9050
      @christophermichaelson9050 6 років тому

      o3d: you have a great channel (I am a subscriber) but I have to disagree with you on this point.
      The Zeon draws over 400A at max load, so that 200A breaker is not adequate. People make the same mistake by purchasing the Warn 200A interrupt switch and thinking it's meant for the Warn winches.
      We went with a PAC-500 500A constant duty solenoid. The solenoid is actuated by a ground-wire switch in the cab.

      If you are in a vehicle accident, it is possible for your power wire to experience damage and arc to a ground. This could start a fire.
