That was my wife’s favorite song. On the way home from her funeral I was driving her car and I reached up and turned on the CD to listen to music and this came on causing me to pull over for a few minutes. It was like she was telling me she was still with me. I listen to it at least once every two weeks and remember our good times. My beloved MD I miss you.

When my oldest sister was sick with cancer, she insisted that we watch the movie over and over when I would come to take care of her. Her husband had just passed away 18 months before her and it was their favorite movie. When she died at the age of 49 we played Somewhere In Time theme music at her funeral. When I hear this beautiful music it doesn't make me sad. Instead it brings back the sweet memories of watching the movie with her.

My wife and I watched this beautiful movie together, so heart wrenching couldn't talk just held her hand and kissed it often until the movie ended.
My beautiful wife went to Heaven in December 2020. She was 76 and I'm 67. How I truly wish that like in the movie I could travel back in time 💔
We're from Chicago and one of our most memorable trips was driving to Copper Harbor Michigan. Now this movie and wonderful music is so much more meaningful and heart stopping.
I know that men aren't supposed to cry but the pain anguish and suffering of losing half of my soul (the better half) is so unbearable that I'm not ashamed to admit that there hasn't been a day that I haven't cried for my beautiful wife.
She died in December leaving me alone to die every single day since 💔

    • @le_th_
      @le_th_ 3 роки тому +13

@@danielc.8875 I haven't paid much attention in the last 10-15 years, but Hollywood has a long history with some fairly despicable males in leading roles, all the way back to Charlie Chaplin and other silent stars. Reeve was one of the few true gentle people in that industry.
Personality disorders abound in Hollywood, especially Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and they aren't the worst but their not far behind the worst (Bill Cosby is considered a sexually violent predator), Michael Douglas is accused of sexual harassment, Richard Dreyfus exposed himself to a female writer, Morgan Freeman has been accused by 8 different people, Dustin Hoffman was accused by a 17 year old girl of inappropriate behavior. Woody Allen. Kevin Spacey. George Takei. Jeffrey Tambor. Sylvester Stallone. Ben Vareen. That is just some of the leading men over age 60. There are just as many under the age of 60 who are equally as bad.
Director James Toback (73) has over 300 accusers. There are many other directors. Roman Polanski comes to mind, as does Woody Allen.
Go into television and you have Charlie Rose with several accusers, David Letterman with several accusers. Matt Lauer with several accusers.
Go into classical music and you have several conductors from James Dutut (81) of the London Royal Philharmonic to NY Met Opera conductor James Levin (75).
Go into ballet and you have The American School of Ballet having to "remove" longtime ballet chief Peter Martins (71).
Go into photography and you have another whole list of men over 60, each with several accusers.
Don't get me started on the male comedians, as the list is long, long, long.
There are a lot of men in the world, sadly from young to elderly, who have spent their lives preying on the vulnerable, exploiting their employees, students, assistants, and even prepubescent children.
If you wanna read something truly disturbing read about Tom Sizemore (age 59). The 11-year old girl is now an adult and has pressed charges since her parents dropped the charges back in 2003. www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/tom-sizemore-was-removed-movie-set-allegedly-violating-11-year-old-girl-1057629/
There are a lot of very, very disturbed and entitled men in the world, and the very sad thing is that most women and girls do NOT report what happens to them. These are just a few cases where there are multiple accusers.
There are some good men left, but not as many as we would hope. Ron Howard comes to mind. Tom Hanks comes to mind.
Then you have the males in Hollywood who had fake marriages and lived double lives with young gay male lovers. They weren't predators, but they sure were dishonest.

My mother was 16 when she dated this young 18 year old going into the navy. By the age of 18, she lost contact with him as his life moved on. By 30, she had been married, had me, divorced, and retrained as a nurse. One day she went to do her Sister's rounds and to see the navy officer who had transferred in overnight with appendicitis. They recognised each other immediately and six weeks later they married. He was the best father any daughter could hope for. He died a couple of weeks after their 50 wedding anniversary - Mum followed him four years later. This was the music at her funeral.

For anyone wondering why this score is so hauntingly beautiful, I will tell you. John Barry who composed the soundtrack had lost both of his parents prior to scoring it. It was a personal score for him as you can clearly tell by the lament in the sound since he was grieving their loss during its composition. Rest in peace John and Chris. And peace be upon all those who lost dear ones.

    • @RickDib

I learned something new today. Thx for sharing. It is simultaneously powerfully romantic and hauntingly tragic. It tugs at heart and soul...as J Barry's parents life and death influenced him profoundly I suppose. The score is so vivid and pulls along the story at a perfect pace..uncovering intricacies of the human heart and soul. It evokes fear, apprehension, risk, romance, love, loss, perseverance, faith, hope, failure, sadness, dreams of a simpler time, crossing over boundaries of time and space and joy when reunited in the afterlife/ heaven.

Back in the early 90's my husband and I were looking at VCR's to rent when all of a sudden the video 'Somewhere In Time' fell from the shelf placing itself at our feet, we picked up said VCR and after reading the storyline it came home with us for viewing (the story was close to our hearts).
Our love for each other was peaceful & caring, a spiritual relationship where we grew together in love and awareness. We were so delighted to have this movie in our possession for viewing that we didn't hesitate to watch it that night...... it was the first time of many.
We were together on our lounge holding hands being very attentive and focused on the beauty of the characters and sequence of events that we didn't speak a word. At the point where Richard was falling back to his time zone and Elise was reaching for him my husband touched my face with so much love (it's a moment I can never forget). Neither of us cried in our viewing of 'SIT' that night because we were in a space of pure delight of what we had just watched however we didn't have dry eyes either, each and every time thereafter (there were many over the years) we both cried (myself crying uncontrollably out loud) whilst holding onto each other with so much love for not only each other but also for the opportunity to have such a beautiful movie come into our lives. We knew we would never lose interest or enjoyment regardless how many times we would watch 'SIT' and albeit cry each time.
I lost my husband to his passing over in 2018 and still to this day I watch 'Somewhere In Time' and cry for the storyline even though I know it well.
Since the discovery of finding the movie on a rental VCR I purchased our own copy on 'VCR', the 'Book' and following later a 'CD' and 'DVD' updated now onto a 'USB'.
'Somewhere In Time' is & always will be my #1 favourite.

"Il boia di Venezia" (1963), "Monsignore" (1982), "Sitting Pretty" (1948); "La dame de Monsoreau" (1971) .... many wonderful films, some of them forgotten, some kept in private collections and never seen on the "big screens"... and that's a pity...

      Colossenses 1:13-14
      Que o ímpio abandone o seu caminho;
e o homem mau, os seus pensamentos.
      Volte-se ele para o Senhor,
      que terá misericórdia dele;
      volte-se para o nosso Deus,

The way he looks at her is magical. So many emotions resonates through him and Barry’s score carries it to your heart. The happiness, the tragedy, the longing, everything packs in Reeve’s way of looking at her.

One of the most beautiful love stories ever made. Everything about it, the story, the location, the beautiful actors, the scenery, the costumes, the music. All perfection, and a movie I have watched many times. I always cry too, every time.

I was just 12 years old when this movie came out and it absolutely shaped my whole idea of romance and enduring love. Even just watching the montage brought me to tears. I still think Christopher Reeve is one of the most beautiful men, perhaps the most handsome man I have ever seen and it still saddens me that he passed away so early. And Jane Seymour is just unbelievably elegant. The movie has stood the test of time and I used to have it on VHS and also had the CD of the soundtrack but I have lost them both over several moves. I will never stop loving this film, to me it was masterful. Thank you for putting together this compilation.

My Husband and I loved this movie and the music always makes me cry. My Husband and I were 8 days away from our 40th Anniversary, June 29th, 9 years ago when he died suddenly. He was 66. I was 57. This year we would have been married 49 years.
We were so close, we knew each others thoughts and could finish each other's sentences. Since he died, I have wished I could go back in time. I have had dreams we knew each other in a different time. When my time comes to be with him again, I want pieces of music from this movie played at my funeral.

This movie is so beautiful it is almost unbearable to watch. Two hearts truly in love are not ruled by time nor place. Our hearts know no time. That is how I picture my death.. I float for a moment above this old shell of me and then, I see him, my husband and we are young again, and there is no separation, no time, no distance. I miss him so very much! I wear my ring still and will wear it until death takes me back to him.
