I have been using the gear (black) for last 6 weeks with Note 3 - I found it really useful! I wear wristwatch everyday for last 12 years - both casual and formal watches; have few good chronographs that I am proud of. I ended up wearing galaxy gear every single day for last 6 weeks. My feeling is if you wear wristwatch the Galaxy Gear is right for you - you will find it useful; if you don't wear wristwatch you might find it useless because its your first time! Regarding Galaxy Gear negative reviews - I read a lot negative reviews about it; what I found is all the people who reviewed actually don't wear watch and don't even tried the gear before write the review!!!
I love my galaxy gear!!!!! I use it with my Galaxy S4 and it works flawlessly.

Does it work with your SIM card?
Hands down best feature is the vibration letting you know your Bluetooth has disconnected from your phone. Have not forgot my phone since.
Admittedly as an earlier purchaser of this device I have to say it has been worth while for me. I purchased mine in October 2013, still going today just a bit worn down battery life compared to new, I used to get about a day and a half from full charge, now get a low battery warning at end of one full day.
To record for vs apple, I have several co workers who have the apple watch now, and its not a bad device. But I do have a durability leg up on them as this has no breaks I have literally thrown this watch against a wall to test it previously, winning me a hundred bucks in the process from the bet. It has also survived being coated in wheel bearing grease, oil, and plenty of times getting soaked in water from the pool.
Camera still works great and microphone is good, but I kind of wish there was a little more volume available for the speaker on gear one. As I say all this I am passing this on to my friend and going to purchase a gear two since this has been great.
P.S. to the trolls who can't believe anything competes with apple, check release dates and also, I give apple credit that they keep up with Samsung, just different methods to achieve the goal of a strong fast phone.
Samsung gives a android system with a lot of customization but heavy hardware drain... thus they produce devices that have insane hardware specs.
apple produces an efficient device that would be sub par... if it was not for the beautiful execution of software trimming leaving a fast device that still can do anything you would actually want it to do.
I just bought the Galaxy Gear 1 off ebay. Its amazing, still getting noticed and people cant believe it has a camera since camera watches are now illegal. Love the Gear 1
I love my gear! Those that hate it are the ones that don't have a gear or simply can't afford it. I can't live without mine! Good job Samsung!
May i ask,does it have a browser plug in? or do you need a custom rom to use a browser on it?

I thought my life was perfect with the note 3 in my hand. But to now have this amazing piece of tech on my wrist the options are endless. You cannot get much better than this that Samsung have done. The haters are only people that either cannot afford it or people that use apple products in which they will never have a thing like this! Or maybe in 2050! Great video...

I purchased the Galaxy Smart Watch and the note 3 at the same time and receive $50 off to watch during the holidays. I love it and it's a great conversation piece. Some say it's bulky, but they're much bulkier watches out there. Stays on wrist. Fits like a glove. Love it!

I bought yesterday a galaxy gear and updated it and download some of it's application one of it was fb quick view...but when i log in my fb id it doesnt work at all so i deleted the app..waiting for the developer to update thier app..

@Raymond Anglada : You CAN use the Gear and your BT Headset both at the same time. You can answer the Call using your Gear, then press the Multi-Function Icon and again use the BT Headset Icon on your Gear and it will automatically transfer the Call to your Secondary (in Priority Listings) BT Device.
I love my GG + Note 3 Setup - Really makes a LOT of things much easier and I can become more productive doing my job.
can u navigate internet on this watch or on zen watch?
I still have my First Generation Gear Watch...however the watch styler is no longer available. Am I stuck with these plain watch templates? I'm not wanting to go buy a new model when mine is still in incredible condition.

My wife just gave me this watch for Christmas and let me just say that I love it.most people complain about it not having all these things that they expect it to have but I'm a gadget lover and I can honestly say that this is a great looking watch with the functionality of a smartphone. Once you realize that then you can start to appreciate what the watch does.i don't regret getting it in fact I think for a first generation smart watch I think Samsung did a great job.
im actually considering getting one of these because it is currently £106 on amazon not to shabby for such a nice product.

Love my galaxy gear watch, awesome being able to create your own face/backgrounds can't wait to find more apps for it whenever they release any. It's great even though I've got blue tooth in my new car you don't hear text's with the stereo cranked, so now the watch let's me know by vibrating then I can quickly take a peek and no worries of an accident etc. Love my new watch, only problem is my 11 year old son is into electronic gadgets as much if not more than I am. Lol

ok so like how u said theres snapchat for galaxy gear.. when i check the apps for the gear theres only like a total of 10 time faces and like 1 app in each category. how do i get all these big name apps that your talking about onto my watch?
you have to side load the apk of apps from your pc. just do a UA-cam search. (make sure usb debugging is on)

How come i,am not getting no sound from my Samsung galaxy gear 7090
I have had my V700 for 5+ years now and other than a scratch on the screen and the normal (?) charging issue, I have had ZERO problems. I use it more often than not and still like it.
It still draws numerous questions from people in my age group (60's-70's) about why and how.
Overall a very good buy in it's glory days.

Yes, s.voice does work.
I'm not sure why you can't ? My girls send them all the time. Maybe it is a software update you missed ? You might try and do a Google search on that question. Sorry I did not offer any real help.

I have a gear and i really like it, best new useful tech gadget in years!
Performance is great, its fast fluent and snappy. Reading SMS and emails works great, taking hands free calls in the car or elsewhere when your hands are busy is great!
Battery time is good as well, easily 2 days with normal use and 3-4 days with just watch+viewing notifications (not reading them on the watch). Make sure to keep black background as it saves battery with the AMOLED display.
Love me Gear, use it every day.
I d love this for a tablet. No need for a semi large phone when you have a nice big tablet to bridge it with.

I did not expect I'll actually use most of the feature on it until I actually got it. I brought this @ Samsung store here in Canada and while I was making the purchase at the store I keep asking the girl the return policy! I was scared I might not liked it or meet my expectation of $349! So I took a leap of faith and now I'm not returning it! I love this watch for everything it does one feature I love about this is a setting I can turn on which allow me to bypass my pattern lock while I'm close

I really like my Gear because it makes the small tasks much easier. I would have never thought that I would answer a call from my wrist but it isn't half bad. It's awesome when you live in a state that has outlawed the use of a hand-held device while driving. It's not the greatest but it does the job. I love getting the notifications about things I want to know about and not having to look at my phone with every ding or beep. I no longer forget about meetings because it tells me when I have an upcoming meeting scheduled as well as shows the day's events on the calendar. It's a really nice toy for me and it surprisingly keeps me on schedule. The price has also started to drop which is why I bought it. It's now $250.

I love Samsung's new devices! They always keep themselves at the top of the mobile device market and that's one of the many reasons I love them.
The galaxy gear never fails to give you a good user experience for what it is. For those of you trashing it, please be reminded that it's a first-generation device. Remember when iPhone was first made and you couldn't even change your home screen wallpaper? When Android cupcake was released and it looked so primitive? But think of how apple is now! With iOS 7, they remind me of the future. And with Android 4.4 KitKat, I can't help but wonder how they do it! Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate your criticism, but if you are just bagging the gear, note it's a first gen, and I guarantee it will become much better in the near future.
It does not have native apps, but it acts as a wireless media remote so you can adjust volume, change song etc in Spotify or any media app.
I'm using this with Spotify when listening in the car, now i don't need to take out the phone to change song

it is useful on the go, I personally like it cause I can make phone call without having my hand busy holding the phone and also when i drive, I get a lot of email and notifications so it's really good for me.

Definitely feel like gear was a step in the right direction. I've owned the sony smartwatch (2012) and the pebble, I like that when I get a text message or call, I can actually do something from my watch that is useful.

I enjoy mine. There are some quirks but...it's a watch. I don't expect it to perform as well as my note 3. Keeping my expectations in check, this thing is great. Does a lot more than a $5K Omega- which I wanted, but know I would have regretted immediately after buying.
I love the watch, but there are a few quirks.
1.I cant seem to get the right file size for the contact pics to show on the watch like in the commercial. They seem to pop up at random on the watch.
2.Watchstyler is a great concept, but on more than one occasion my custom watch face has frozen.
3.The speaker on the watch is not that loud. Even in the car I had to really concentrate on what the caller was saying while driving. I might take it back and wait for a price drop.

The 2nd iteration of Galaxy gear would be worth the wait.
This is the first time Samsung has ever impressed me with their interface and support.
I won't use something that I have to charge every day (and I'd never buy a Galaxy S-anything,) but it's actually a really great first implementation of a smart watch.

Some reviewers feel the urge to make a review without even reading the product's manual and features.
The Galaxy Gear's probably best feature is the proximity/screen unlock. Instead of using finrgeprint scanning (iPhone 5S) or iris scanning (...), any compatible device (S4 and Note 3) will detect the proximity of Galaxy Gear and unlock the screen.
If it's far away, it goes back to the previous security mechanism (None, Slide, Pattern, Face, Pin, Password).
Is it comes for free with note 3 or do i have to pay for it?

I like this smart watch but I wish it would have had a front Facing camera like the Neptune pine watch which has a 2.1 inch screen a front camera and a back 5 megapixel camera.

I love my Gear, I always get stares & questions about it. The gear is splash proof, I've worn it washing dishes, at the gym&even in the shower.I haven't had any problems out of my watch after it gets wet. it's still going strong even after 3 wks, I was told by a Samsung rep that it can be submerged for only 30mins same as the Sony, I would Love to see somebody put that claim to the test...All in all I'm pretty happy with my gear. I get 2days out of my gear & that's ok with me.
