I love this dude! He's INCREDIBLE!! MAD MAX, The PATRIOT, BRAVEHEART, The PASSION of the CHRIST, RANSOM, HACKSAW RIDGE, LETHAL WEAPON, funny as hell, talented director the list goes ON!!!
Apocalypto ✊
Payback is another underrated gem! Great unapologetic crime noir.
payback, he was so great in that. he basically played retired max Payne with less bullet dodging
@@usern4metak3ns Blood Father is bad ass too...
Easily one of the best actor / directors in film history. And he is not done...
Mel's the best.
Payback is a somewhat under rated crime noir that should be revisited. One of his great gritty and bloody performances. Like high end exploitation! Been meaning to rewatch it again soon myself.
Absolute Legend.
I'm really looking forward to Lethal Weapon 5. I have been waiting for this movie for a long time.
Mel Gibson is still awesome!
Grew up on ALL his movies, from Mad Max and Bird on a Wire, to Sound of Freedom!
Warner please give us Lethal Weapon 5!
we need one last movie with Riggs and Murthaugh :)
This was a good discussion, though I do wish it was longer, and I'm surprised the moderator didn't bring up Mel's other "passion" project - quite literally, "The Passion of the Christ".
the controversial stuff is probably too heavy for a FanX thing.
A Vibrant Legend:)I always thought Tequila Sunrise was underrated Mel:)God Bless & Always Be Well,Mr. Gibson!I wish I had an Uncle Mel!:)
Such an amazing voice
Wow Great interview! Legend!
Thanks for your hard work
This man's a Legend.
❤️love you Mr Mel Gibson ❤️💋🇬🇧
Nice for everyone in SLC but he was sorely missed at the 45th anniversary of Mad Max this weekend, held in Maryborough and Clunes in Victoria. His wife Jessie (Joanne Samuel) and son Sprog (Brendon Heath) were both there, along with Fifi, Johnny the Boy, Starbuck and Diabando and stunt and crew guys. Would be great to see him at the 40th for Thunderdome next year….maybe?
Don't think he's ever been to one and it's been held every year for a long time...I got VIP Meet & Great tickets for his show in Melbourne but was cancelled due to the Pandemic 😢
This was awesome!
I watched some of the filming of Beyond Thunderdome in Sydney, because I grew up there. My first real job after school was for a meat wholesaler, and they have a shitty office in the middle of nowhere in the Sydney Cattle Yards. It's actually in the geographic centre of Sydney metropolis, but out there you'd think you were in the Outback, no houses, dusty and dry. It was a massive area, all redeveloped now for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, but at the time you'd never know you were in a big city. Anyway, I was having lunch one day and drove down the road to this spot on the edge of a cliff to eat my lunch and there was all this commotion below, and I looked down and there was this strange little town thing and all these crazy cars driving around. Straight away I knew it was a Mad Max movie being filmed because it looked like the town in Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior as it was called in the US). Spent about a week watching, very cool.
Also, the scene of the plane crash in the "desert" was actually filmed as the Kurnell Sand Dunes, which is a beach in Sydney too, not far from the international airport. I used to go fishing and spear fishing there. I believe they filmed the Aussie classic 40000 Horsemen (1940) there too.
Cool man. During the time that you saw the actual filming, do you remember if it was in 1984 or early 1985?
@@the_real_kent_grayson I'd say it was 1985, because I left school in 1984 and just started my first proper job in 1985.
@@aldunlop4622 Thank you for your comment. I always love learning when movies are actually filmed, against when they are actually released. I also prefer the title "Mad Max 2" for the second movie. I hated that USA used "The Road Warrior" title instead. Thank you again for your comment. Have a nice rest of the week.
Stellar interview. Love Mel's enthusiasm and humor. 18:25, guess the studio is still messing about?
I think Warner Brothers.
Hey brother thank you for the video! Yes I was there and I took more then 1000 photos( well.. almost 😂) but I was focusing too much on taking photo and some how some what forget what he have said in some parts. Your video is just amazing and best thing ever 😂
And I see what you have done here. After Fanx, on Sunday, I was refreshing your channel and waiting for the video. I saw you uploading videos during odd hours. That means you didn’t sleep(or sleep less) to upload all the videos ya? Haha thank you for your hard work I appreciate it
Thanks so much for the upload.
An artist.
This is my hero for 30 years. so real and interesting in every film
Best actor ever and his film Apocalypto was an underrated masterpiece.
Gracias❤
Mel is Mad Max Rockatanski!
Tu eres un actor favorita y director te apoyo y te quiero
The man mel
Extremely talented director, even more so than actor. Looking forward to The Resurrection. Only Mel could pull off Jesus in Hell for three days.
where do u get that fucking idea from?
@@lincthomas7178 Well, I've seen other Gibson interviews where he describes his vision for The Resurrection, which includes Jesus spending some time in Hell during those three days after the crucifixion. Many Christians believe this occurred, and apparently Mel does, too.
@@1165mac they are all fucking deluded
Looking forward to Mad max 6 and Lethal weapon 5
13:06 if you want Mel's hilarious dig at Arnie. "you know, that kinda shit" lmao
legend
Having watched Mad Max 2 on release in Australia, I cringe at the numerous times the interviewer called it Road Warrior. Before the movie started a contest was announced to rename the film for American distribution. For me, it will always be Mad Max 2.
Same here mate.
There was an earlier draft of the Lethal Weapon 2 script called Play Dirty. Elements of it were used in the shooting draft of Lethal Weapon 2, but its been discribed as a far more violent and darker film than Lethal Weapon2 ended up becoming. I'd be interested in whether or not Mel read that script and his impressions of it. Martin Riggs ended up dying at the end of it. I wish Shane Black would release that draft. I'm interested in what might have been. In interviews, Shane Black has claimed it was the best thing he's written.
In all honesty, I wonder if the hesitation from WB has anything to do with either genuine lack of interest from studio executives running things now and/or their hesitation to work with Mel Gibson again because of his personal luggage and controversies? Because Gibson and WB have not worked together since Edge of Darkness from 2010. The year everything went bad for Mel.
Chris Provost is no shlub himself.
I used to always confuse this guy with Ted Danson.
They look alike.
Their first name is three letters.
Their last name is six letters, two syllables, and ends in "son."
Similar.Ted's first picture was Body Heat!
They look nothing alike pal.
@@gabispn13 you mean "nothing."
@@BillCosbyTouchedMyDoodle sorry, typo.
In the 80s and 90s they had a similar look. Not so much now. I used to think of Ted Danson as a poor man's Mel Gibson. Same thing with Aidan Quinn.
Did you happen to get the terminator panel?
@@perfectskinsoapery yes!
😊 🎬 📽
Great guy! But the longer he's talking about Lethal Weapon 5 the last couple years, less chance it is going to get made sadly enough..

Little known film of his, which I think is a Diamond on the rough in his filmography is Birds on a Wire. Him and Goldie Hawn are PRICELESS. That'd be a great remake film with two really big stars today.
Check out two really great recent movies of Mels called Blood Father and Dragged Across Concrete
Mel did nothing wrong btw, bit harsh word choice but thats it. everything else was truth
Gallipoli
First Gibson movie I saw. Went to see it when it was released when I lived in Australia. Then I saw him in Mad Max 2.
He doesn't need the money i really wonder why he's selling his autograph & picture ?? 😮😮
Because such things are resold at crazy prices, and this way, he gets something out of it, and the buyers have to earn it from him. If a few people learn the wisdom, the world is a bit better.
@@Victor-gi3dy I think he is producing a new show that's gonna be shoot in Malta and Italy. He may want to use this money for that purpose.
I was there and bough autographs and photo ops of him and actually I was wondering why dose it cost so much again and again and again.
At first I thought because of his status and name value but I guess that’s not all about it.
What I guessed was if it was sold at lower and cheaper price, every one in the world would do it even non fans. I guess this was for hardcore Mel Gibson fans who willing to spend money and treasure the moment and take seriously. If not A to Z would have come and buy his autograph and photo op.
Think about it, he took photo op with more then 2000 different group of people on that day. What if it was at cheaper price would be probably 5000 different people.
@@fafaffff so how much did you pay for autograph & photo oop ? I'm guessing $600 total 🤔🤔
