  • These commercials aired on ABC on November 27th, 1983
    1. WNGE News Bumper (This station had been sold that year and the new owners actually changed the call letters to WKRN only two days after this recording. It is still broadcasting as WKRN today)
    2. ABC Closed Captioning Bumper
    3. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Intro: "Stripes"
    4. Coca Cola
    5. Jean Nate After Bath Splash (Wow)
    6. Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup
    7. Magnavox
    8. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    9. Honda Accord LX Sedan
    10. Polaroid (With James Garner and Mariette Hartley)
    11. L'eggs Active Support
    12. Promo for "The Rodney Dangerfield Special" (It sucks that Andy Kaufman would be dead only six months after this)
    13. Krystal (This is a hamburger chain based in the south, modeled off of White Castle's slider style burgers)
    14. Sunny Delight
    15. WNGE News Bumper
    16. WNGE Station ID/Technical Difficulty (The brief flash at 6:11 was definitely some sort of station glitch, I edited this graphic down but it was on screen for some time)
    17. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    18. Teledyne Water Pik Instapure (With Christie Brinkley. I think I know what they were up to dumping that water on her)
    19. Dig Dug for Atari 2600
    20. Permalens
    21. Hickory Farms
    22. Promo for "That's Incredible!"
    23. Ford
    24. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    25. ABC News Brief
    a. Israeli PM Yitzhak Shamir visits Washington D.C.
    b. Syrian President Hafez al-Assad makes public appearance after absence (He had suffered a heart attack earlier that month that was complicated by diabetes. There was a succession crisis that involved his brother attempting to take power following his hospitalization. Assad eventually recovered and remained in power until his death in 2000. His youngest son, Bashir al-Assad assumed power and is the current ruler of Syria)
    c. Hundreds of thousands march in the Philippines to mark birthday of slain opposition leader Benigno Aquino (He had been assassinated earlier that August following his return to the Philippines after living in the US to receive bypass surgery. His death sealed public opposition to the regime of Ferdinand Marcos, which he had been a vocal critic of. In 1986 his widow Corazon Aquino ran for President and won, becoming the first female president of that country and ending the 20 year-long Marcos regime)
    26. L'eggs Sheer Elegance
    d. Snowstorm in central plain states
    e. Adverse weather might delay Columbia launch (The launch went ahead the next day on schedule: en.wikipedia.o...)

    28. RC Cola
    29. Middle Tennessee Chevy Dealers
    30. WNGE News Bumper
    31. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    32. Tylenol (Still trying to rebuild public trust after the Chicago Tylenol murders the previous fall)
    33. Olympus Quick Flash
    34. Isotoner Gloves (They sound awfully like Brits pretending to be Americans. You can't fool me!)
    35. TV Spot for "Christine" ("Body by Plymouth, Soul by Satan". Awesome)
    36. Promo for "The Fall Guy", "Dynasty" and "Hotel"
    37. Pulsar Quartz Watches
    38. AT&T Phone Center at JCPenney
    39. 1984 Ford 4x4
    40. Promo for "That's Incredible!"
    41. The ABC Sunday Night Movie Commercial Bumper
    42. Promo for "Three's Company", "Oh Madeline" and "Hart To Hart"
    43. Tuesday Morning (I'd never heard of this chain before this. In 2020 they filed for bankruptcy due to the Pandemic and are closing a number of their stores)
    44. WNGE News Update
    45. "Stripes" End Credits

That was a cool teaser for Christine. I only watched the last 10 to 20 minutes of that movie as a kid because I was waiting for another movie or show to come on. I have read the novel earlier this year and thought it was a great book.

Love the technical difficulty, not going to lie!
We used to have a Krystal here but it closed years ago, but the Tuesday Morning is still open.
Once again it's always nice to see the end credits!

Honda Accord LX Sedan ad done by the Legendary Burgess Meredith - the famous Penguin on the 60's Batman show and has appeared in several Twilight Zone episodes. Also has done ads for Florida OJ, and Rayovac battery. His voice is Uncanny and genuine!

We had a Tuesday Morning on Shelburne Road for years that closed last year. The owner of the chain thought that most folks were positive/in a better mood on Tuesdays which is where the name came from. They were sort of like Goodwill stores.

That's some impressive graphics on the Closed Captioning Bumper for its time.
I have a feeling that the Mother in the Campbell Chicken Noodle Soup Commercial was just playing dumb with the daughter, already knowing she wants the soup.
I have heard of that Tuesday Morning chain of stores before. From what I remember, it was a discount store, selling a variety of merchandise at low prices.

I shopped in a Fishers, IN Tuesday Morning location last year. It appears that, per their website, this is one of the stores that has closed. To be fair, the discount store space does have a lot of competition between Big Lots, Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx/Home Goods, and Five Below, and that was even pre-pandemic.

@@hopegrimsley3427 there used to be some Tuesday Mornings in SoCal a couple years ago. Not sure if they are still around. Agreed that it must be a difficult market with so much competition.

    great recordings m8
also did magnavox make the "Magnavox and Ralph" commercial as a reference to the Magnavox Odyssey and Ralph H. Baer?
it could be possible becuase the name was a tribute to the original Magnavox Odyessey, already released 11 years prior or could be a coincidence, although with relations naming a commercial character "Ralph" in a Magnavox ad seems a bit obviously a nod

Seems like a stretch to me. Ralph is a common enough name for it to just be a coincidence.

Yeah.....the letter "c" on the news brief is somewhat controversial even to this day. A handful of people prefer Martial Law than having too much democracy.
I wonder if the RC Cola in my country is related to this RC Cola. But I was introduced to the brand in 2010 or 2013
