I'm so glad that the lotr films were made in 2000-2003.
100%. Modern day Hollywood liberals ruin everything they touch.
They were a cinematic miracle in general, each year i appreciate lotr existing even more.
@@SassyCassie89 if aliens have the technology to travel light years away from their planet to ours, they probably have way better movies than us. Maybe lotr is just mid in their planet

god bless peter jackson
the man literally terrorised his agents to get the role before the show was even greenlit, thats how much he want to play Geralt, and still they somehow managed to chase him away, incredible
When they realized he wasn't gonna just stand by them butchering source material they did everything they could to make the role less appealing for him to play
@@johnsullivan9496 Pretty much yeah, certainly seems to be the case at least, I'm fine with some change provided it makes sense to the characters, mean shite LOTR is a prime example of how to do an adaptation well, it followed the material damn close however not 1 to 1, same with the first 4 seasons of GOT.... yet nah lets have major ego problems and intentionally or not nuke the show over it.
Women can do that to any man.
He helped lay the foundation so now he’s just a roadblock. He served his purpose and the wokeness always takes precedence

When a great actor like Henry Cavill, well-versed in the show's backstory, bids farewell, it's like losing a storyteller who held the secrets of the characters' past
How did hold secrets to the characters past? Is there something about Gerald that he knows isn't present in the books?
@@lampad4549oh yes, because every actor that could replace him is very well verse in witcher and every actor is a big fan of witcher, every actor could play the role as passionately as Henry Cavill.
Are you serious bro? You really dont get it?
@@lampad4549 why do some people love to roleplay ignorance on something they already know? are you trying to pull a gotcha? come on bruh.
@@lampad4549 They lost someone who actually read the books and played the games...
If you listen to the video, you should realise that the people in charge DONT CARE about the lore or story, they couldn't give a flying f*** about Henry leaving because they are just following their own egos.
They had a golden goose in their hands- masses of fans, great cast of actors, compelling stories from books. It could have been massive long term hit for Netflix.
thats what happens when you hired shitty writers who haven't done any great writing in their lives, and they think their ideas are better than the books which had more success because of the original ideas and plots
@@hikhik6441 Yea, it's the writers and the show runner that are ruining it. She's the one who hired the writers, she's the one who okay's everything that happens in the show. She can claim she's a witcher fan but she sure doesn't respect the source material.
Its what happens when you put a female producer in charge.
They only had one good actor
Those hacks would’ve had to read the books or play the games
It's not that hard to follow the source material, but somehow, these writers always find a way, Justice For Henry Cavill
@@LionEatingMan however they are - they are still better than the show
@@LionEatingMan Not to be a fanboy, but they are actually pretty good. Wouldn't say 10/10 but 7.5 or 8/10 I believe

@@LionEatingManbruh... that comment is on netflix showrunner inteligence level.
The LOTR films also had a “walking encyclopedia”, namely Ian McKellen, who was holding a copy of each of the books on him at all times when not in costume and was constantly consulting with Peter Jackson to use the source material to contribute. And because Jackson was able to put his ego aside FOR THE SAKE OF THE ART, those movies came out fucking breathtaking.
Not to mention the late Sir Christopher Lee :)
Well Peter Jackson himself in general wanted to make a movie in the spirit of the books
This isn't pure ego, this is directly believing there is something bad about them deeply and wanting to change it
@@mareksicinski449 Yeah, I totally agree, my point was more that it takes a lot of ego as someone who hasn’t written a series of award-winning novels (which those writers are) to think that you can do better than a series of award winning novels lol
The most important element to make good movies and art and production in general, regardless of budget or equipment
I'm guessing you're not including the Hobbit with that. Adding a new main character, a female elf that falls in love with a dwarf...wtf was all that about? Mostly the movies are great but there are some choices that are baffling and strange.
He was really the only reason some people continued to watch the show. Without him, there are no upsides for fans.
He was the only reason I continued to watch at all-
I had major problems with almost all the characters and who the writers chose to take their roles?!?
Straight Bullshit!
Like making he-man without he-man. When I first saw part of this series I was like WTF is this? Where is the Witcher? Why is this nonstop preachy girl bosses?
Yeah first season was enough for me, I just couldn't get into the second season and god knows I tried!
Outside of Geralt, Ciri, Yenn, Yarpen and maybe Dijkstra the rest of the cast might as well be Extras. They did so many characters dirty. Even Dandelion who was good in Season 1 has become pretty shit.
I still think Cavill was a huge miscast and made Geralt look like a stripper. I get that he is a fan and genuinely likes the character, and probably an overall upstanding dude, but his looks are incompatible with the role.
You have an A-list actor who is a hardcore fan of the work and is also perfectly cast for the role AND you have the story already written for you. How the f%ck do you screw this up.
Something something bum loot murder something something rainbow groomer
People can screw up the source material by NOT reading the source material and just basing their script on a summary of the source material while inserting their own interpretation and interests to the finished work.
Ego, ego is how you screw it up. Before the mcu, comic book movies deviated hard from their source material to the point that the only similarities would be how the character looks and maybe their abilities. It's starting to get that way again and it's because every writer thinks they need to leave their mark.
Well its easy you add modern woke politics to the show as the frontliner.
Everything woke turns to shit
Henry is the most likeable dude in media by far. The man is attractive af, passionate about his roles, and defends the wants of the fans. And above all else, he doesn't bring politics up EVER.
Amen!
The whole politics argument is so stupid. Popular shows and movies are not bad because they are political or whatever. And all of this ”shows go woke“ nonesense is on the same line. Movies and shows have always been political (doesn’t mean what the writers on Witcher did was good. I read the books and loved them and was very disappointed watching season 2). But always shoving it into the political sphere and saying it’s politics that destroy these movies and shows us stupid.
@@Anonymous-vr6ph We know what he means by "politics"
@@Anonymous-vr6phThe problem isnt really that shows are political. The problem is that writers are trying to force their political views into the movies and series. But when you are doing a book adaptation (especially in fantasy/sci-fi genre) the only political views being put into this should be the views from the author being put into the book. This for example is part of the reason RoP is shit. It is known Tolkien wanted his creation to be timeless. The movies were made timeless because P. Jackson didnt put his views into the movie. He tried to adept the books into movies with as little as possible changes. All he changed was basically to keep the flow of the movies. There is nothing worse than taking a long time ago written book and force your current political views into that book. It's disrespectful to the author's work and movies like that suck most of the time because it is not authentic.

To this day I still DONT UNDERSTAND how they hell they get a bunch of people to work on a show who don’t like the source material… when they did the trailer to the first season, im like yeah there’s no way they can mess this up.. thank you Netflix for ruining something so So loved…. Again🤦♂️
There is a place for radical re-imaginings of stories and settings. The problem here is that they are skipping the first step of playing the witcher stories straight in a high budget series
Nothing is worse than what they did to resident evil. The Witcher is heaven compared to that Netflix series
Because they're the cheapest Netflix could afford
Simple answer, Money.
It's simple - Nepotism and also the existence of writers unions that wield influence and make sure that its members always have access to movies that they can ruin.
Writers aren't hired based on their knowledge or passion for the source material, or their skills in writing, but rather what their beliefs are and who they know. If they don't write stuff for games, they will write stuff for Hollywood/Netflix.
The irony is that there’s another show that had a similar situation with Cavill went through. Jenna Ortega has stated that she had to improve a lot of scenes for the series Wednesday because what was written didn’t make sense for the character. One of the writers of the show went on Twitter and stated she was being toxic and a brat. She wanted Wednesday be dark like the source material, true to where the material came from. Now, she’s a producer on the show for the second season and has sworn the show will be as dark as the source material, and that there’d be no stupid love triangles (like what was presented in Season 1).
That's good to hear, I loved Wednesday and didn't realize how bad it could have been without her
@@slevig415 Yep. All the moments that are memorable (such as the dance), was Jenna Ortega's doing. It's reported she even changed lines because what the writers had written was not what Wednesday would have said, and that she hated the love triangle featured in the first season. The writers and producers want actors who will just perform the character as written on the page. The best actors are the ones who take things beyond the written page, and in case of nowadays, are the ones who care the most about the source material.
actually, the one who bashed her was NOT one of the writers of the show. They defended her, saying that these differences with the main characters are normal and good dialogue may add to the quality of the show. The one who criticized Jenna was another writer, who wanted to "defend" his colleagues.
That's a great news indeed. The reason I did not enjoyed the series Wednesday was because I did not felt the darkness I sort of knew the character had. It felt dumb and too light-hearted compared to what I was expecting.
I will try to watch it again, it may be worth it now.
@@marcoviola6741soon, a writer
You know it's a red flag when your lead actor knows more of the source material than the combined writers room
I have no idea why Hollywood keeps on doing this all the time nowadays. They hire writers and show runners that have zero interest in the source material. Make that make sense. Like why would you make a show based on something you have zero intererst in?
@jeezus666 Netflix is so publicly invested in politics that are opposed to the basic masculine themes of The Witcher that it isn't surprising they would find some way to sabotage or undermine the series.
@@univega2003 On the other side books are extreamly feminist (in a good sense of that word)... Its irony that from really powerful female characters Netflx made this XD
@@jeezus666because need to push that agenda
Does anyone else see the irony? They hired an actor on the premise that he loves the source material and then drive him away because they want, for literally no reason, to deviate from the source material
There IS a reason. They do NOT care for the source material. They never wanted to show the witcher story. They wanted the story to be presented in their OWN way. They wanted THEIR version of the story. Remember how they admitted about LOTR? They said that it had nothing to do with Tolkien's work. It wasn't their intention but to push their political agendas. Same here. What, they couldn't find at least ONE REDHEAD to play Triss? They didn't WANT to. Instead, they replaced her with some gypsy. Same thing they did with Ariel. Replaced the ginger with a N.

If i remember correctly, Sir Ian McKellen did the same thing on lotr and hobbit as Henry did on the Witcher. Ian always had a book with him and quoted Tolkien when something was off.
The difference is that Peter Jackson went, shit you’re right, let’s change that scene to be more like the original work
And Christopher Lee in my understanding
but apparently Henry was called a "video game addict" and was accused of using "video game language" in some transcripts, which i dont think makes any sense
And thats why love or hate the changes or additions Jackson made to LOTR people accepted them because they could feel his love for the source material. It’s why despite the change Witcher has held on to fans as much as it has because you can feel Cavil’s love for playing Geralt. Without that I’m not sure the remaining cast can hold it together.
Can I get a source because I’ve never heard that before?

In my opinion the story stays close enough to the books. I also think that the actors do a great job.
Whats killing the show is bad script and over all poor quality. Everything looks awful. the dialoges and pacing is bad.
But over all. They focus so much on boring stupid stuff instead to focus on the story. The books focused heavily on the dreams and what the characters fight for. their fears and less on the interpersonal relationships. The great happenings in the book dont feel so great on the screen, dont get the focus they deserved. they ont show why cirilla had bad expiriences with the people teaching magic.
And than the woke shit. Yes the show has so many black ethnics that it has an impact, that it doesnt feel like an medival european story. When Dendalion makes out with Radovid in an emotional deep lovestory i quit mid episode. So i can say no more about season 3 than 3,5 episodes.
@@eve-llblyat2576Stays close enough to the Books? Second Season had only 3% of source material I think that's not close enough
Rule one of doing an adaption with a big fandom, NEVER piss them off. 2. Never scrap/hate the source material 3. If there are any changes, make it make SENSE and make it GOOD
19:20 just alone these few seconds of him calmly responding as to why people might not like derivations and that its within reason and not toxic but passionate, tells me all i need to know. hes a handsome well trained guy who is also famous and it didnt grow to his head. hes still based and humble. whatever bad things were said about him are instantly neglected when i hear this.
Well the guy is an actor and it's basically part of their job to be loved by the public. Not saying he's at fault for anything and i personally don't even believe that but the fact is that we have no clue what went down behind the scenes and we probably never will.
This is proof we live in the worst timeline
This is the moment where I would reload a save to try a different choice, cause we messed up this one.

Instead of watching the third season, I rewatched Wiedzmin (a 2002 Polish tv serial of 13 episodes), there's much more passion and soul in this work. Michał Żebrowski was the first Witcher I saw, and Henry was the last, both true legends and Witchers❤
Highly recommend watching Wiedzmin 2002
I loved the old show! It was so fun
Just mind that the budget for the entire Polish series was similar to budget of just one episode of Netflix series.
What's hilarious is allegedly the show was popular with middle aged women because Henry was eye candy for them. I remember being in a Facebook page about the show and so many of them were very disappointed that he was leaving that they said they were gonna stop watching the show
Yes, this was lost on the writers as well…which blows my mind. They had a built in female audience because woman love…shocker coming, sexy, hot masculine men crushing skulls on the screen, and…being men, acting like…men….apparently, not toxic.
They really missed in our demographic interest. Manly guy, gentle but fierce, half bored of politics, protective of a teen, in love with a tricky sorceress? Its a f*** visual novel for us ..
My boyfriend and I don' t like season 3. Not because of the people - they did a good job! But the story and some characters from Netflix.
I am glad to know that he went away because Netflix broke the perfect books.
Go woke - go broke!
Greetings from germany 👍
I was a witcher fan before the games. I waited years for each book to be translated to english to be able to read them. Each game was great, did new unique things and felt like a great addition to the story. Seeing Henry Cavill in the role blew me away. He is the Geralt I loved in the books. I'm enjoying season 3 because of him. Anything that comes after I won't watch. Plenty of other TV. He is the only Geralt I want to see.
So basically you are saying you are still enjoying the program even though it is not a carbon copy of the book??? meaning Cavill is a dick for abandoning the fanbase that actually liked the series, he made it about himself and what he wants rather than stick to the end of the series ... As I am concerned it is him who destroyed the series by leaving not Writers, as I am concerned writing was good enough ... some actors should learn to be just that "actors " and stop sticking nose into writing and directing ...
@@Berndr The showrunners literally said they hate the books... what are you on? The series just sucks, like almost every time they want to derail from the source material
@@Berndr Basically just reread what he wrote, you got it all wrong.

So basically the story don’t gotta be good but if your man is in it then it is good ? 🤣
The show runners: "Yeah, Henry was toxic, we had to let him go"
Also showrunners: "What do you mean you don't want to be naked all the time, Henry? There are 6 more nude scenes in this epidode alone. Lets get those clothes off"
Henry decided to leave, he was not let go.
@@HenryFire515No, he was forced to leave because the workplace was going full woke.
I'm adding "toxic" to the list of words I instantly judge someone as freezer temp IQ over. Done with these buzzwords. All these wackjobs are getting insta-labelled as disposable oxygen thieves to me.
I might be "toxic", but last I checked, we're the reason these people even have buildings! The electrical, the plumbing, the roof, the panzer-less shores, the airbags, etc. We build everything, and they can't even be bothered to write a good story.
@manictiger These people (i assume that means women)? We (and that means men)? I didn't build any of that sh*t, and neither did you. The most impressive thing you probably did up till now was use sh*t other people made - like the internet, your phone, electricity, the building you live in. Just cause whoever built it had some bits dangling between their legs, and you do too doesn't make you "we."
Don't group yourself in with people who are useful to society when you're not... it's a bit pathetic^^

I think the word does have the rare applicability.
It would be wrong to use the word "toxic" about a disagreement about staying true to the source material.
It is not wrong to use the word "toxic" about people completely ignoring a disagreement about staying true to the source material and instead solely focus on the other party allegedly being sexist, emotionally stunted etc.
I hate it when someone, who is incompetent beyond belief, deflects every bit of criticism with "Oh, it's because I am a woman/gay/trans/black/etc.". If you are incompetent, you are incompetent. There is nothing more about it, no subtext, no agenda. You just suck.
Well, he's going to make a 40k show. So there's something to look forward to.
I hope Zack doesn’t leave the Asmongold show
Nah, The Asmongold Show is more than just that Zack guy. We just have to find that Desinc guy who did the April 1st video years ago and things will be just fine.
I hope that one day this series will be redone and this that time sticks VERY close to the source material. I wish that for many stories. It's hard to do a film or series of a masterpiece with little changes, it's impossible with big changes.
Problem with this new writers that they don't want good, true to the form show. I think they want their own show with theire ideas, but nobody approve that, so they ruined good story with their ideas
Nope, they just have a check list, so that the woke movement doesn’t go apeshit.
They bend down to this nonsense and now you see the results.
I was one of those that questioned if Henry was the right choice but after season 1 he absolutely was the best choice for the character.
As a Bookreader Andy, Cavill choosing to leave is indeed no surprise at all. The showrunners and writers have made significant changes, to the point where I can't even tell what's coming next.
I really hope they cast him as Bond. It’s his long life dream to play the character. In The Man from UNCLE and in Mission Impossible, he proved he would make a tremendous Bond. He studies and takes the characters he’s passionate about very seriously, like Superman and Geralt.
He could be the best. I could also see Ewan McGregor do a Roger Moore-Bond, but Cavill would absolutely slay the role.
I really want to see him in more MIs, sad I don't think he's in the new one coming out. He was SO GOOD in UNCLE!
I'd definitely rather see him reload his biceps as Bond than watch a Bond that rides on the back of a woman's scooter.
What sucks with Bond, they always give the role very late depending on age. He could be a good WW2 junior Bond.
I respect this man so much for his principles, whether some might say he's just catering to the audience or not. The only one that outdoes Henry Cavill in terms of acting, life and sheer respect for source material would be Christopher Lee, who of course also fell out with Peter Jackson. I'm sure there are other actors, writers and other people of passion that I'm too uncultered to not know about. All I can say is to treasure these people and let them know that we appreciate them, for they promote creativity and passion in the world.
" i was more than happy with Henry Cavill’s appearance as The Witcher, he’s a real professional. Just as Viggo Mortensen gave his face to Aragorn, so Henry gave his to Geralt and it shall be forever so,” said Sapkowski."
Polish reader of Sapkowski- it was not shocking to me - Henry promised that only one thing would make him leave- was if Witcher won't be faithful to core of these series. Welp ...not shockign at all, really :) Huge respect to Henry - thank you for visiting Warsaw btw ; Henry ♥ !
Yup. It was some shaddy contract for 3 seasons. He had completely different script in his job offer.
This is why I'm glad that Henry Cavill is the one making the Warhammer series, we need more people who are passionate about the things they are making
well not only passionate, i would say who is passionate and LOVE the original and will not follow "modern topics"
"...a misogynist toxic gamer"
I already told you I love him, you don't have to sell him to me.
Wow they cannot replace him…
I read 4 of the books and I thought Henry did an incredible job as Geralt. Definietly a great fit for the character. That said, the show was awful compared to the books. I didn't mind season 1 too much since the changes weren't that wild, but season 2 was just ham fisting so much in there.
yeah, season 1 was ok
Season 1 was still fine, the timeline was very confusing for people without the knowledge tho, I guess that kinda led to the worsening afterwards, they could have just listened to Cavil, but they are dumb and think they know shit.
They could have stayed true to the source and just made the Timeline and Places clearer with explanations for non-readers of the books and it would have been fine, but nope...
witcher ended in season 2 for me... Season 3 regarding plot was horrible, henry canvill was amazing and did his best with the shitty script given. like seriously why did they just not read the books??? the story was already perfectly written.
Facts Asmon @0:30 Just simply knowing that this is a passion project worked on by a Witcher fan would get me to watch in general passionate projects are rare and the best! Like Star Wars Filoni passionate like Marvels Kevin Feige passionate! Y’all see what I mean?
Yes but that is their job as writers and directors wheras Henry Cavil is only listed as acting, you basically want Henry to act, write and direct the show at this point
@@glock40s85 Not necessarily I’d want Henry to just have a voice like Filoni and everyone listens when Fiege or Filoni corrects because the staff is passionate. The Witcher it all comes down to the writers not being at least invested into the universe Henry and the crew was already carrying the show enough
Honestly Cavil fits as Geralt so well, when I see clips or pics from the show, I dint see Henry Cavil. I dont see superman. I only see Geralt of Rivia. So you understand how insane that is? I love Hemsworth. As far as a replacements, they definitely could have done a lot worse. And it's not Hemsworths fault, but it's going to be really difficult to succeed in fans eyes.
Peter Jackson also did The Hobbit which many disliked but I personally loved, cause it was more character driven and I love that in media. I cried in cinema when that one dwarf died. They did the dwarfs so well, you could instantly root for them, just like you root for Tyrion in GoT. It's a shame that the Snow White remake won't follow that tactic.
Crazy how the "Toxic Masculinity" came from all the women in the production of the show.
It's funny how season 1, the closest to source material, had a low critic score but a high audience score. Yet season 2, which deviated much more and was almost a miss, had 95% critic score against 50% audience. The critics were trying to deviate the show from the start!
what were their problems?
Most of the review sites are owned by a conglomerate called Penske Media
Everybody should stop watching this crap. Season 2 was bad but this thing is unwatchable. Henry Cavill is now the hero without a cape.
I feel bad for Henry, he got his dream role but the showrunners made stupid decisions that made the the seris bad, but on the other hand we will now hopefully get a good live action series set in the 41st millenia starring Henry Cavill, The Emperor Protects!
Imagine Reeves, Cavill and Depp together in some kind of fantasy movie or show where Reeves is the laconic yet deadly one, Depp being the wacko, and Cavill being the sensible leader, the glue that holds the trio together as they go on adventures.
Heck, one can already ask ChatGPT to write a script on that lol
I'd watch the fuck out of that. Lol. 😂
So, Wheel of Time if it was good?
@@ChristmasLore I highly recommend checking the books out tho cause they are amazing. Shame that the show sucked
Well I mean they want the attention for ruining the shows that's what these events come across as.
The guy was picked because of his looks, it was incredibly weird choice tbh, but his passion did deliver Geralt.
I would boycott the new season, but I don’t have Netflix after they removed account sharing so they made my decision for me there

Imagine what great shows and movies we could have had, if the woke movement never existed
It's just so sad

Wow Nerdotic just owned Asmongold like a 4 dollar microwavable steak! WOW
Pete Jackson try to stay as true to the Lord of the Rings books as possible, JK Rowling required the movies about her books stayed true to her books - they made big bucks. These producers and writers are stupid when they disrespect the fans and books!!
Loved Witcher - games and books alike. We were so lucky to have Henry Cavill represent it. As a massive WH40K fan, I'm just fucking stoked to have him here too.
Remain cautious Guardsman.
We need to support actors like this that stand up for the integrity of the original art that is bringing in the attention to shows to the first place. Speak with your views (or lack thereof) and vote with your dollar.
Spoiler for the books. Ciri IS the story! Although Ciri is the plot, Geralt NEVER took a back seat in the story! Also, they absolutely gutted the character of Yennifer. Yennifer played a HUGE part in the books. She ADOPTED CIRI! She NEVER agreed to hunt down and kill Ciri, only to find her and save her from the wizards/mages and she actively undermined them! Geralt for most of the books, was getting caught up in politics and wargames, while at the same time trying to find Ciri and save her.
Henry reminds me of Ian McKellen that played Gandalf I remember one of the LOTR movies behind the scenes Ian loved the books and knew them so well that the director actually asked him what happened in that scene in the books to see what lines they can use, I think that is just amazing of an actor can do that and know the source material so well, Henry is the same know Geralt so well and knows what the show needs.
Think that was Christopher Lee, the man who played Saruman. He was an insanely massive LotR fan.

I started to watch season 3 and its hard to watch. It's boring, story is shit and its filled with mary sue garbage, but what else can you expect from women writers that hate the material.
I'm not surprised, just sad that the show took just a dive right in the toilet. Glad Henry Cavill got out of that shit hole when he did.
The fans doubting cavil was honestly sad
You mean during the initial reveal ? His makeup and possibly also the costume did not work but the revised look was great :)
And yet the self righteous Hollywood liberal writers who intentionally ruined this show are somehow sadder.
To be fair, a lot of people probably didn’t know much about him. All I knew was he played Superman. He gained a ton of fans from this.
Anyone remember when we found out that Ian McKellen never read Lord or the Rings. Then when he was given the role of Gandalf he would read the books in his spare time when not filming to better acquaint himself with the character.
