I'm wary of your time on these and don't want to be cheeky, though it is really cool to hear and see the walkthroughs, the techniques and final results are truly awesome so if you do get a chance to cover specifics of the unique details in any of the other crystals please, it would be helpful. We are already spoiled having access to the setups via Patreon though :-) Thanks for sharing Arvid!
Great video! But I don't understand how your for each loop is changing the crystal when u change the frame number. I tried with a similar set up and it didnt seem to work for me.
UI question here--what's up with some of your wires entering the left hand side of your nodes when you turn the preview flat on? (for example the MOPs randomize node at 1:18)
Hey Arvid, thanks for the tutorial, how long should rendering typically take? I've tried some gem tutorials as a beginner, and I'm not sure how long is normal/aimed for for something like this turntable render? I only have houdini so mantra and XPU are my options, but I'm not sure what's a "respectable time" to aim for render wise nor how many light bounces/samples is considered sufficient for detail in these translucent materials?ow
Does anyone know how to do this in 3ds max and zbrush? these shader details are insanely good and I would like to make one in my project im working on right now
Hi, I've just stumbled upon the instances issue in HtoA. There's a strange thing that when you instance objects through @instance point attribute, Arnold renders instances properly, but only the first time. Then it just ignores all instances and doesn't render neither instances themselves nor points. And so, it lasts until you restart Houdini (And again, only first render hit becomes successful). Have you ever met this nonsense or have any ideas what it can be?
you can do all of the shading aspects in maya arnold the same way. The modelling technically too, but using maya tools it will be quite tricky. You can obviously look in to bifrost, which is very slowly trying to catch up with Houdini. But it's possible using that
Hey Juan, the shading aspect in maya and Houdini is the same. I’m just using Houdini as I can more easily create content. I was always a bad modeller hehe. So probably I’ll stick with Houdini for now.
@@arvidurs thanks man, no problem at all, I think is matter of choice, for example I don't like Houdini. I just work as a lighting artist and Maya and Nuke have been enough so far. But, you're right, shading is the same. I think is lazy to follow a tuto that has an interface that you don't like it hahahah anyway. I'll around ! Always thanks for sharing your knowledge.
@@losimple Thanks again. Agreed, if I would just be doing lighting and shading. I'd probably prefer Maya as well, as MtoA still feels better. But to create stuff, houdini is just more fun :)
Do you want to see more walkthrough tutorials of the other crystals seen at the end? Let me know below!
If you can do this on Maya then yes please

+1 here too
✨👌😎😮😵😮😎👍✨
Yes ! Love your tutoriel! I fallow your work couple of years now! I learn so much about Arnold. Did you try Blender with Cycles?
@@Thiagz Hey, nope I have not tried blender
Fantastic look, thanks for the videos!
Inspiring work! Using volume noise to get the layering and pitting in the rock is genius.
amazing! , hope we will have more indepth tuturials about arnold !.
You got to do the king to gems namely diamond next. 💎✨
Your work is amazing!

Hmm not fully sure what you mean. You can change the visual look of the wires with shift s
im grateful for your channel thanks for the content appreciate it
Can you please make a video on how to achieve ARCANE's style of character shading ?
Can you share a link please

Can you print them on a 3D printer?
Would love to see your post processing!!
I do have the nuke scene files on my patreon if you'd like to take a gander there.
@@arvidurs Thanks, I'll check it out!!

What pc to you have?
Hey Arvid, Can you do a tutorial on Explosion Shading and rendering in Renderman? Like the ones in Mandalorian season 2? they looked really great!
yeah! I can totally do that! Will add it to my list!
@@arvidurs thanks a lot
Can you do alexandrite crystal which changes color based on viewing angle?
yeah, I can look in to that
@@arvidurs for some reason diamond renders that I see online look the most fake. Why is that? Have you done diamond rendering on your Patreon?

How to make iridescence material in substance painter
Love it! Houdini looks interesting (max user) when did you switch?
Close to two years now
@@arvidurs How was the switch from Maya for lookdev?
when is there a new tutorial on substance painter ?
What would you like to see?
It’s better to mention render time & GPU or cpu
Hey seems like you enjoy to work in Houdini, that's why I want to ask you if you don't plan to do more Maya tutorials anymore? Thanks man
