This one was actually my first MG , after dabling on more master grade I agree its overpriced but it does have the best hands of any MG I got so far . As a fan of anime acuracy for MSG 079 suits I really like the very low quantity of surface detail they give us but I definitly see why some people are disapointed by that , especially at that price . Biggest regret with this one is that the DOM squat is still very limited which is kind of a bummer .
It's just, this time you got a bit LESS details compared to the 1999 version, and the inner frame still isn't that great. I think it would have been great if it was like, $40, or if they added the Rick Dom parts inside this, which they totally could have done easily. They were just too lazy to make changes like that.
I see this on sale a lot, and tbh it sounds good for beginners if they want a MG but dont need to fear it becoming imperfect, something you can edit and build some skills with when it comes to gunpla tbh.
I felt the same when I first saw this kit. It could be a very good minimal build with a matt paint job, but I can't help but feel it would be a better fit for the Full Mechanics range. It really doesn't seem to have any build complexity.
Well, for the FM line it would have to actually have a lot of surface details. This is an MG because it’s just literally the 1999 old MG with a few upgraded parts. Wouldn’t make sense to group it into another line. I’ve got no issues with the kit itself, the old Dom MG hasn’t been in production in a while so this is basically a reprint. I’m just annoyed by the price hike.
Partially, but there has also been a steady hike of prices year over year. RG Epyon is over $50. RG Wing was less than $30. Seed FM kits are closer to $70 now and absolutely don't contain 40% more plastic than SEED MGs.
For example the HG Helmwige Reincar contains a lot more new frame parts, and also had the same HG Grimgerde frame parts, but the two kits cost the same. This Dom price hike isn't REALLY because of the plastic, although that might be how they are justifying it. The truth is just we'll never see an MG for less than $60 ever again, but I guess that doesn't change things, because we'll likely not even see that many MGs ever again lmao The good thing here is they seem to still want to keep the entry point low, so we have really good HG kits for less than $20 consistently
@comradegunpla yeah the lack of MGs really sucks, especially for me because I've really started to like MGs more than anything else. Hopefully when they finish that second factory they'll turn that around. Maybe they're also looking into plastic alternatives like what they seem to be expirmenting with on some entry grade variants and the Gunpla kun kits.
@@MaryPTY Yeah... Unfortunately I think the future is gonna be 1-2 MGs a year just to keep the name going, and everything else is gonna be FM but with an MG price tag. The plastic alternative thing is absolutely just a PR move. Remember, corporations don't do things that are 'right', but more so things that they can get away with. Look at the amount of MG P-Bandai releases. They definitely have the capacity to produce MGs, they just can get away with FM kits for the same price and much less cost, and we proved to them that we'd eat it up.
Those Chinese kits do have a lot more value but I feel like they still need to find their own flavor, right now it still feels too much like they are just doing Gundam clones. They need some real animation IPs to push that, but that's definitely no easy task

As of the hands, I think they are just the hands they used for the Sazabi, so yeah, best hands from Bandai so far.

Can't wait to see what you do with it. Would love to see more MG content, even if it means waiting a bit longer for each video.
I legit laughed at the title.

They price based off how much plastic is in the box so you're paying more for leftover plastic lmao

The recent releases from China show up Bandai's laziness and cheapness
Are you talking about those special color editions from Bandai for the Chinese market? Or do you mean like kits from Chinese manufacturers
