Thank you for making these videos. Your rebuild videos have really helped me as I start an 06 Polaris 550 full rebuild. I think my crank bearings are bad.
Just purchased a 1997 artic cat Puma 340 and I did not do a compression test on the motor before purchasing the snowmobile because the seller said he just had it running all day and then it would not restart. Noticed two different heat range spark plugs. (bad sign)The brake side cylinder was at 120 psi ,but when I checked the clutch side cylinder it was at zero. Next used my finger over the spark plug hole and nothing with hand cranking the motor. Used a flat head screw driver to bring piston to TDC and looked down the spark plug hole and saw the piston pin roller bearings through a hole in the top of the piston. Payed $350 for the sled. Not sure if it is worth repairing since the aluminum pieces of the piston probably ruined the crankshaft ball bearings as well. Tomorrow I plan on taking the cylinder cap off to get a better view of the damage. It sounded like a fuel issue the way the seller saw air bubbles going through the fuel line to the carburetor. Will hopefully not make that mistake again. If a motor will not start check the compression before buying. I am hoping the seller will understand and we can exchange securities back in some fashion. Watching your video kind of showed me what I am up against in terms of work that would need to be done, . Thanks for spending your time to educate me and others.
Dude your air screws are off for a Indy lite! Polaris specs 1.5 turns out for this sled. Usually what causes a bogg on a two stroke whenever accelerating or a high load is applied at a low rpm.
Nice video, thanks! Regarding perpendicular floats - might be worth mentioning that if the floaters had been hanging from the float lever, as is the case in many other carburators, their weight makes it impossible to adjust for perpendicularity like that. You have to turn it 90' to the side, then slowly turn it until the float lever juuuuuust touches the springy thingy. And check THAT position for perpendicularity (turn your head). I know you know this, but maybe not for everybody watching. In a carburator with floaters on the lever, if adjusting for flat, when affected by floater weight, holding it horisontally, will mess things up.
So you're saying you can't adjust the float lever (the bronze hinge that pushes the needle) horizontally because the weight of it is pushing the needle (spring thingy) down a little?
I cleaned out the carbs on my 95 formula rotax 583 rotax, it drives but it bogs when I try n go fast. I fixed the skid and still nothing.. what can it be?
L: I bought a Scandic 2 377 w/o the carbs. The carbs I picked up have plunger holes for a choke - Instead of getting choke cables and plungers, I'd like to plug off the choke holes completely and use only a primer. Can I simply close off the little pipe into the bowl and the carb holes?
I never thought to check if my plungers rubber was worn and sure enough I'm bogging coming out of idle and they're all worn out, hope it helps. you never know what someone is going to teach you
I have a question I have a 1997 mach 1 700 triple when I start it up it runs great It does not have no hesitation of going but once I hit 60 miles an hour I hit the throttle past half way and it starts bogging what's the cause of that
power vavles? Jeremy rhydes on youtube had the same issue. ua-cam.com/video/WtAfgkNLesE/v-deo.html watch this video it might help you if you have power valves
I’ve had a boggy Arctic cat for a while now. No matter what I did it’d bog, and as it warmed up, it’d get worse. I pulled the motor, ensures the timing was right, rebuilt the fuel pump and replaced the filter, then spent a good hour or so fiddling with the carbs. She runs pretty damn good now. Just had a 60 mile day and had minimal issues. (The carbs still need minor adjustment)
HELP! I toke my 1994 Yamaha 500 Vmax in to have the carbs cleaned because it was bogging down at mid range throttle only after the engine has warmed up for 10 to 15 minutes. It's still doing the same thing. I'm a little frustrated if I have to redo the job that the "professional" was supposed to do. Do I have to reclean the carbs doing all the detailed stuff you talked about on this video? OR is there something else that I should be looking at. The problem only occurs after the engine is supper warm and only bogs in mid range throttle.
You said the choke plungers are indented...I can't find a single picture or video online anywhere that shows how a new choke plungers should look. Your video strategicly blurs out the bottom of the plungers as well 😮💨
that oil hose that you took off does supply the lower bearings with needed oil why did you not hone the cylinders and chammfer the ports.you did not measure the ring gap you also should have oiled the cylinders before you put the pistons in you also forgot the new recoil rope you wanted to install. hope you don t catch those new rings in the ports if they are to tight follow your own advise do the job the first time
7 bucks a can at Canadian Tires you can at least try it ! My old Grand Touring was doing the exact same thing ! Put in new pistons and gaskets, cleaned the carbs like crazy. Started the thing up and it was still bogging ! We where scratching our heads to this. Next door neighbour came over with a can of Sea Foam and first 5 minutes nothing happened then out of no where sled started to pick up RPMS and white smoke was everywhere but the sled was running in mint condition ! We still couldn't understand what happened there ! But it worked !
hey! love your channel ,watching for a long time but i thought i should say your audio volume not very good in most of your newer videos, computer maxed out and i still barely hear ya. put up the volume lol keep up the good work
keep talking louie! your calm doctor like voice assures us we can do anything!
Love to marinate in that two stroke smoke!
Nice job on the rebuild vid!👍
"Somethin's still not right" - that's what I say every time I work on a sled LOL!
another great one from the uber canuck. thanks for all you do louie. making my 8yo daughter watch this so we can tinker with hers this summer

Main jet is screwed into the side of the bowl. Setter jet connects carb body to float bowl
*sounds like whole whole motor is falling apart*
"that sounds good!"
lol the recoil stuck
the the recoil stuck out - easy fix just didnt have time
I cleaned out the carbs on my 95 formula rotax 583 rotax, it drives but it bogs when I try n go fast. I fixed the skid and still nothing.. what can it be?
denver dedam your slide needle might be a touch high it’s easy to put the clip a position higher to try and lean it out a bit
good vid good info ! we have a hella of time with that ethonal in the chain saws ! just got a tester vile to check for less than 10% by volume !
YER Straight SHOOTER GOOD VID EXACTLY TRUE ABOUT most folks not knowing how to properly clean a carb
this video helps a lot, very similar to my 340 polaris

sounds liek a good idea - try it and let me know! - or just leave the plungers in if they arent worn out.
Wow that sled is clean!!!
I never thought to check if my plungers rubber was worn and sure enough I'm bogging coming out of idle and they're all worn out, hope it helps.
you never know what someone is going to teach you
Where are you getting your Mikuni parts from trying to find the choke p,hungers but no luck in BC.
did you ever find any
you can still find lots of polaris carb parts in ontario. you may be stuck emailing shop to shop asking
Can i ask where you source your carb parts? I have an older '01 MXZ 500 having a heck of a time getting replacement carb parts for it
I have a question I have a 1997 mach 1 700 triple when I start it up it runs great It does not have no hesitation of going but once I hit 60 miles an hour I hit the throttle past half way and it starts bogging what's the cause of that

What size of drill bit you use
15:52 Cliffhanger!
What resource do you use to get your parts for these older machines??
What kind of carb is that
How clean up the carbs on 800 XLT triple

I'm looking for fairly accurate hp rating of 91 liquid cooled polaris indy 400. Read 62hp I don't think accurate. Maybe 40?
I have a NOS 440, can you tell me why it only cranks with the starter and not the pull cord? Pull cord is not broken, but hard to pull?
Hmm take apart your recoil and have a look
@@PowerModzOfficial there's nothing wrong with the recoil! It's a new engine. I already have taken things apart.

ya you need to go thru everything.
Not running on both cylinders!!
Have a 340 she locked up I've been thinking of rebuilding it but the body is whopped and I payed 100 for it so it'd be more than what it's worth
I need help with myself the clutch isn't engaging and it's not staying running
take the clutch apart
How much compression does it need to have a good engine mine have over 110 and it’s a Indy lite motor is that good or not??
thats ok
Sounds like running only on one piston .
Is UA-cam messing with the thumbs up system?
Less Cancer More Blood and Neurological issues.
Think Ed Pink and Keith Black among others.
ahhhhh the smell of 2 strokes!!!
You said the choke plungers are indented...I can't find a single picture or video online anywhere that shows how a new choke plungers should look. Your video strategicly blurs out the bottom of the plungers as well 😮💨
No conspiracy here, the camera just didn't focus and its hard to see when im shooting. new plungers are just flat rubber.
Nice Video louie
Thanks!

Tickadee boo
That smell is glorious 2 smoke baby!
That smell is what its all about... shes a runner. 7yrs ago... lol.
SEAFOAM will fix that issue !
seafoam is good but there is nothing to seafoam - everything is new and clean,.
