    Any sled older than about 15 years should have the fuel line in the tank replaced! Folks always think its the fuel pump but nope its the rotted line in the tank.

      I agree! It was always at the back of my mind but I just didn’t want to admit it!

    Very interesting video I enjoyedbut don't feel bad about the kill switch. I just got my sled out of the shop. Twin carbs $100 each to clean new fuel lines. Our first snowfall I says I gotta see if this thing is gonna run good. I'm cranking it and cranking it and cranking it. It wouldn't fire. Yep, the kill switch was off.

      Glad you enjoyed. I never fell bad if I learn something new, even if it is a stupid lesson! Hope we both remember the kill switch next time.

      This one starts and runs reliably, but it breaks up under power. I have a new set of plugs and caps for it as well as a fresh tank of fuel lined up. We'll see how she goes!

    Check the sliders and idler wheels. There's a couple of grease nipples on the suspension. Fix it properly.Shouldn't need a primer ball..

      I’ll be sure to check the skid before I really go out and hit it. Also the primer doesn’t need to be there after I replaced the pickup line, but I left it there simply because I ran out of fuel line and needed to finish the video! Thanks for watching

    Having a skidoo addiction is just as bad as a drug addiction. It cost way too much and one of these days. It might kill you. 😂😂😂😂😂

    I have basically the same sled 1995 340 panther Deluxe pretty much the exact same. Same stickers except for mine's green and it has a long track I got it for $200 4 years ago and it sat in a boathouse for 22 years it was almost like brand new Clean the carb Put a new fuel pump in it new gas and it's been up and running ever since the great thing about these air-cooled is they don't need to be super cold out to run themUnlike these liquid-cooled where they overheat if there's not enough snow or if it's too warm out. It's my go to ice fishing sled now Super reliabl

      I'm also a big fan (pun intended) of air cooled engines just for their simplicity.

    You should have about 1/8 inch of slack / free play in the choke cable. That free play will ensure the plunger is fully seated when it is in the off position. And there are two positions on the choke / enrichener lever. Half and full. You need to put it to the full enrichment setting for cold starts. Looks like you got a nice sled there. Those 340 / 440 fanner Cats are awesome. Enough power to have fun with but not enough to break stuff. Gave you a sub.

    Very nice sled. Now what I would do is put seafoam in the gas tank. That will get rid of anything that is still in the fuel system. Then take it out for a good hard run and then it should be fine👍

    • @OutsideMedia1
      @OutsideMedia1  Рік тому

      I'll probably throw a can in there when we get some snow and go out and rip around the yard a bit. Thanks!

  • @bigjay6743
    @bigjay6743 Рік тому +1

    Those sleds are very cold-blooded they definitely need to warm them up a little bit before they run Good When it starts bogging out give it a little bit of a choke Shut it off immediately and so on and so on and it'll stay running until it warms up. Definitely need to blip the choke Every few seconds at cold start up

    • @OutsideMedia1
      @OutsideMedia1  11 місяців тому

      I've found this to be 100% true with the sled this weekend. Runs like a top when warm, but takes a long time to get it there! Definitely some choke modulation involved.

    Great vid! I'd be a little careful with that intake manifold though since it's a two stroke, especially if it is between the carb and the cylinder. You could potentially suffer from a lean meltdown. Not as big a risk on these low hp fanners, but still something to look out for, hard to tell for sure through the video but it kinda sounds like it has a slight lean bog too.

    • @OutsideMedia1
      @OutsideMedia1  Рік тому +1

      I was hoping someone would comment on this. The revs do kind of hang before coming back down to idle, which says lean air fuel mixture to me. I’ll look into it. Thanks for watching!

    • @glenmallory9982
      @glenmallory9982 11 місяців тому +1

      Sometimes the gaskets between the intake manifold and the cylinders get brittle and fail. I had the 275cc FA version of this engine do that after many years of service. Not a defect. Just old age.
