    I usually use a drill bit, not popcicle sticks.

    there's more to it than just the physical size small differences in shape ect. change flow rate .... measuring vacuum at the same time for each is best way but I appreciate the time and effort for the upload The method you shared is great idea and gets us within a reasonable range and gets us going 👍

      That's right. Measuring vacuum is probably the best but this method is easy and pretty accurate. It's enough for most trail riders

    the problem with this method is the tolerance for the popsicle stick thickness is pretty high so you really need to verify the that you have sticks within .002" of each other

    why don't you use the plunger screws to adj the plungers......

    • @thehonestmechanic
      @thehonestmechanic  Рік тому +1

      Those screws are for idle adjustment only. They have no use in making the two plungers rise in sync

    The adjustment screws in the cap should be used to set wide open throttle. Idle should be set with the idle screws on the side of the carbs. This method means one carb will be more open when you have the throttle pinned.

      So how do you ensure that both slides open together at the same time?

    • @Unctahdew
      @Unctahdew 7 місяців тому

      @@thehonestmechanic simple. When you use the cap screws to set wide open throttle they’re both set at the same height which in turn makes them open at the same time. This is all laid out in a mikuni tuning manual.

    How do i base adjust the side screw adjustment ?

    • @thehonestmechanic
      @thehonestmechanic  8 місяців тому

      The side screw is the idle speed. I recommend doing this by counting the turns on the screws. Once you are happy with the idle speed(every engine varies slightly) you can then set the cables in sync. BTW, you do not need anything in the carbs when setting te idle. Hope this helps

    Sweet my carbs are synced to 4,000rpm 😂

      @thehonestmechanic  Рік тому +1

      You missed the part where you only take up the slack in the cable. The idle adjustment is done with the screws on the side
