Smokey must've taken amazing care of his voice to still have such great pitch and control after over half a century of singing. His voice was obviously stronger as a young man, but his mastery of the art clearly allowed him to hold on to so much.

I had bad anxiety. I could barely drive alone. I'd need to go to guitar center about 40 min from where I live. I asked my mom to ride with me, which she obliged because she's a Saint, and I'd blast oldies. She turned me onto them of course. She passed 6 months ago and I'm so lost. This man means more to me than anything I could ever imagine. As soon as i saw npr did a tiny desk concert of smokey i wouldve showed her and she wouldve loved it. i guess what i wanna say is i loved it when we were cruisin together. I love you, mom.

Smokey's music was a part of my childhood.
I'm close to 70, and used to hear him, along with The Beatles, The Supremes, and other early Sixties hits while being driven to grade school. And it astonishes me that not only is he still around, but he's still sounding good, and he barely looks a day over 50! At his age, most singing stars are working on their golf game, wheezing in the hospital, or gone.

A perfect way to start a Monday morning in the UK. Was lucky to see Smokey live a few times and was always left super impressed and i see nothing has changed. The voice has mellowed but is still as sweet as can be and the band sound fabulous too. "Besides you" sounds like a Smokey future classic. Thank's to all at NPR for keeping live music real and introducing us to new music and finding time to honour and recognise those that have been and remain masters of their craft. Thanks Smokey for all the beautiful music and so many wonderful memories.

This free Smokey Robinson Concert was great. He is the consummate performer, he gave in this concert just as much as he did at the one I paid for in April. The entire group was there playing and singing at the great Tiny Desk Concert. It was enjoyable, entertaining, and exciting. Mr.Smokey Robinson, my favorite entertainer, is truly the GOAT. And a big thank you to the NPR Tiny Desk Concerts, keep them coming.

Smokey was my first concert back in 1986, my mom won tickets to see him at the LA Forum. He opened with U Really Got a Hold on Me… I only remember this because of his appearance on Sesame Street when a giant U kept trying to attack him. Later on when I was playing drums, I worked at Guitar Center and one of the first people I met happened to be his drummer from the 1986 tour, the first drummer I had ever seen live. Anyways, Smokey has a special place in my heart and this performance made me so incredibly happy, like I was at that concert with my mom again after all these years. RIP mama, and thank you Smokey and NPR!

Smokey still has the smoothest voice ever! Needless to say he’s a living legend and songwriter. Tears of a Clown is my favorite song of his. It’s so emotional and sad.
George Harrison mentioned how much he liked Smokey. If a Beatle likes and admires you then you’re doing something right. I love Smokey too! He’s still got it. This is a special show. This is pure talent!
    Thanks!

He toured Australia when 'Being With You' became a hit and I was fortunate enough to run down to the stage at the finish and shake his hand. In my world he created the genre of 'sweet soul music'. Thank you NPR for this one, (and all your concerts).
