@@aveteranplayer6403 the Last of Us ist completely fictional. Battlefield 1 ist based ob true Events. That causes a smaller barrier between the characters sind the player. The Last of Us would never get to that point
That moment when they decide to put the guns down, realising the pointlessness of their situation, was just perfect. It's great that DICE took the time to show that amidst the horror of war, the soldiers who fight in that horror were human. Well done guys :)
Vod yeah, I agree. DICE did phenomenal with the campaign of BF1. I may not like the game, but the single player was phenomenal
I will say this: This is one of the few games that managed to actually... make me feel tense, feel emotions, in fact feel. Games rarely make players see the bigger picture and make them feel emotions they never had before.

Shame that the campaign itself was more of a run and gun gameplay and not about hard decisions. Cutscenes like this or at the end of the game are great nevertheless.

Its great how they dont show anyone as "the bad guys" it just shows the war, the horrible, gritty conflict that took live we can't give back. Thank you dice for helping us remember those who fought for our future.

I get goose bumps every time I listen to this speech, dice will always be one of the best game developers if not the best. That is one powerful speech and that one cutscene is better than any other COD campaign mission or cutscene and I think it beats the campaign of every other battlefield

I get that most of this game's (and most game's) audience is, well, americans, brits, and others. But I believe there should have been two campaigns fro this game, to see the war from both sides, I know you can play the other nations too in multiplayer, but...

Six entente campaigns, yes indeed.
Whilst I agree, there sadly wouldn''t be a market for seeing the war from the other side. I'm one of those who would love to see the wars from the German side of things, Fight as a Central or Axis powers soldier, but the Market prefers the 'heroes' who won the war.
Sadly WW1 is a time where people don't want the stories of the other side, they want those who gave their all to protect our way of life.

It does.
Behind every gunsight is a human being, everyone feels the same thing, lives, breaths and fights. They may do so for differing ideals, but at the end of the day, that person your shooting is someone's son, someone's brother, someone's father. We're all human.

You know, what everyone says on how this scene is commendable is true, and there are events where "Live and Let Live" situations happen - where one or two soldiers from one side, see another one or two soldiers, and the two past one another pretending that never happened.

This scene humanizes soldiers as humans not killing machines they knew killing each other was pointless they didn't portray the Americans good Germans bad they made both good and makes a statement that soldiers aren't killing machines

I like how the German and the American didn't shoot each other, but instead, lowered their guns, indicating that even though they both had different views, different cultures, beliefs, religions, Both had their ups, both had their downs, both had their dreams, they were still human.
