I wish that runner war story would be twice as long.
I actually really disliked Friends in High Places. Mostly the main character from it, I absolutely hated him.
This gave me the chills when I first saw it. not sure why.
50 kilogram shells will also give you chills when they are falling on top of your head while you are hiding in the mud.
so beautiful. World war 1 is overshadowed by world war 2 but we got to really see what it was like through this amazing video game.
RIP Frederick Bishop.
you don't see this kind of quality in a COD game...
I think he meant infinite warfare fireball. Infinite warfare gave me no feels after i died in space like tf.
This is the best of the 5
Slender2633 yeah, I find I play friends in high places and Mud & blood for the enjoyment, but The Runner for the characters.
I like all campaigns.
Friends in High Places for the swashbuckling adventure story
Through Mud and Blood for the scenery and Townshend
Storm of Steel because of how nightmarish it is
Nothing is Written because of the Armoured Train Boss Fight
Avanti Savoia for the Arditi and, again, the nightmarish second mission
And The Runner for the character development and bittersweet ending.
Not from gameplay I think it's more fun flying the aero plane but the runner has the best story of all
"We're Aussies, we're impossible to kill."
"I guess so.. "
"Unless ... not a kiwi, are you?"
R.I.P. Frederick Bishop, one badass motherfcker.
Rest in peace, Frederick Bishop.
BUT WAIT. He lives...DUN DUN DUN. Nah he dead, but I hope the boy grows up to be just like him. Wouldn't it be sweet to see him in a WWII Battlefield....*sighsss*
And he does the same thing with some other soldier's hat that Bishop did with his.
Bishop gone through second world war so... Probably artillery strike didnt get to him
Was he a real person?
Sorry I’m probably a dumass for asking this but I’m wondering
Its short, but it hits home like a long campaign would. It was so unexpected i didnt think anything was gonna happen and then the music kicked in and my heart sank. The music was just perfect... I couldn't have thought of anything better or any other way to end the episode. Beautiful just beautiful.. If that story was a full campaign we would have been talking about maybe the best campaign in gaming history for years. That ending with the quoting, brought a tear to my eye. The people who created and thought of that needs a standing ovation.
it would seem bulgarian-macedonian relations have deteriorated since the release of this game lol
it has been like this since "300" used this in their film with the "Message to the Queen" so yup, pretty much an unlogical relation
AFGuidesHD It's been like this for decades, and it actually ties into WW1. The Skopje region has always been disputed because of its ambiguous ethnic mix of different Slavic communities, with the Serbs and the Bulgarians registering rival claims. In 1912 the Serbs, the Bulgarians, Montenegrins and the Greeks allied against the Ottomans in the First Balkan War, and led to a decisive victory over the Turks. But the Serbs and Greeks had captured the lion's share of Macedonia, and the Bulgarians launched the Second Balkan War to capture it for themselves. Bulgaria lost the war, Macedonia ended up in Yugoslavia, and the Macedonian people eventually developed their own identity when they broke away from Yugoslavia in 1995. The Bulgarians have never forgiven this slight, as many Macedonians are descended from Bulgarians.
Peter Gray. you are mistaken only in one thing. There are no macedonian people. The concept of macedonia was invented by tito decades later. Those macedonian people you refer to are slavvs with mixed bulgarian and albanian ethnicity.Thats why they are arguing for their songs and culture. Skopians cant understand that they ve been sharing their culture with other balkan people because they ve been brainwased from their goverments throughout the years to claim a culture that they have nothing to do with in order to provide their country with a national identity.
Probably destroyed the kid seeing right as he shot the flare they bombarded everything.
@@urielmedrano2101 I’m late but 1. The flare was from bishop to signal his own retreat no where is it mentioned that he had the barrage signal flare and 2. Those are dreadnoughts
@@bagelmaster2498 I am sure Bishop didn't want to tell the actual purpose of the Signal Flare being used to signal bombardment, or else the boy wouldn't have shot it because of Bishop still being in the conflict.
@@JrChiefpac2671 that’s possible but they don’t really say that’s the purpose so it’s kinda up to interpretation I guess
I hope to god that when he said that "aussies are impossible to kill" it actually meant something
There's only 2 ways to kill an aussie:
Stingrays and Dingoes.
Both of them are in 'Straya.
The real Frederick Bishop survived the war, but he died of influenza a year later
The saddest death I've ever seen
shadow cosplay pro If I were Frederick, I would be crying my balls out. I wouldn't handle looking at ships firing at me. That's just...idk...
DanielSparten I would have a sense of pride, knowing that foster made it out
look carefully this part turkey give so much children because this war
They need to make this a movie and have Hugh Jackman, Eric Bana, or Simon Baker play Bishop. They need to use the same soundtrack too. That might be the best war movie ever because it was the best campaign mission in video game history. The Lawrence of Arabia mission was also beautiful and should also be made into a movie and have someone like Henry Cavill or Benedict Cumberbatch play T.E. Lawrence.
or you know, just get the voice actors to star in the movie, since most of them are actually actors, and, the character model in game is modeled after the voice actors
They already made a Lawrence of Arabia movie in the early 1960s....it's regarded as one of the most magnificent epics in film history.
Good Kid
this is the time when a man cry...not by watching fucking TITANIC....
Being an Aussie, I am simply blown away by what DICE has produced. They have made something that takes it right there...
I would like to see the Turkish point of view but, at the moment, DICE has seriously out-done themselves. The voice acting and scenery is incredible. Well done DICE.
BF1 continues to impress. Well worth the hype.
as a Turk, this actually makes me proud as seeing how my grandparents beat the biggest and the strongest navy of those times and Bishops death also made me so sad because Aussies were kind of forced to fight. I feel both proud and sad for all the blood that had been spilled
ExperiencedSoup The Ottomans/Turks were unbreakable. Against all odds you guys held your ground. The casualties however were unbelievable. It was a horrible war for both sides.
the battle may of been won but in the end many turks were dead as well as aussies/nz, it was a no win situation in my opinion, my pop fought on the western front and i think they did alot better there even it was still life and death they had better commanders.
@@Itzsniper21 it wasnt due to the commanders, the reason that Gallipoli ended in a stalemate is because of terrain
This made me proud being an Australian.
+Türker Korkmaz And men died for nothing on all wars (however noble or honorable they may be). Greed and ignorance causes wars; and as an Australian who values multiculturalism and a number of mixed religions; I can only hope that we may live together in a world where political ignorance and petty fanaticism are left behind, so that we may finally live in a happy, peaceful Earth.
Gallipoli was a mistake yes, but unfortunately power corrupts and war is human nature to us.
The irony of all this is that war changes men into monsters, tyrants, weaklings, cripples, damaged relics etc. because war...
War never changes.
Anzacs and Turks fought bravely and died as honorable mans. I heard about that the Turks made special graves for Anzacs in Galipoli and being kind to them. Thats the real honorable acts. Congratz Anzacs and Turks.
“We came from all over the world, the innocent, the arrogant, and the brave. We thought the war was to be our rite of passage, a grand adventure that would make us all equal in our quest for glory, but instead of adventure, we found fear, and in war the only true equaliser, is death.”
It truly was a beautiful game. Ive never know a game like it, that trule represented the bitterly sad nature of war
idk if someone mentioned this yet but.... look at 2:55 just behind the flare and the ship, there is a destroyed and burned ship and Dice is so fucking amazing that they added the OIL SPILL coming off of that blown up ship! That's attention to detail.... fuck!!!
Juan Carlos Lopez Ikr on multi player I was flying a plane, I destroyed the plane in front of me and the guy falling out was screaming while falling with the pieces of the plane
"Of course It is, One more death for me to live with" Very underrated line
2:15 Ok this is creepily realistic
When the flare goes up with the music I freaking start bawling like a baby every time. EVERY TIME
I cried when the kid fired the flare, like an angel in the sky! And the closure that older guy had knowing the people are safe
Very grim but lightening moment!!
'Those heroes that shed their blood in this country! You are in the soil of a friendly country. Rest in peace. You are lying side by side, bosom to bosom with Mehmets. Your mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries! Wipe away your tears. Your sons are in our bosom. They are in peace. After having lost their lives on this soil they have become our sons as well' Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK
Kaan Cesur that's a beautiful statement. A true respect for all who lost their lives and a symbol of love among all of us who wish for a peaceful future for all of mankind.
And here it is you dont have something to say about your own words and keep telling me lies keep going like this
One Piece for Life leave him be ;) his ego is so high that he can't fit trough a door and obviously his knowledge from turkey is almost non existing and that little knowledge comes from western news 😂
Everyone argues what country made this song...... FUCK IT, Mexico made it
It was composed by Macedonian composer and it is Macedonian song, Bulgarian singer has her version. This is her version
This exact mission made me instantly love Battlefield. To make an event that we Australians mourn and celebrate so passionately in to my opinion the best and most touching mission in the game really hits me in the feels. It sucks because barely anyone who is not australian knows about the battle at Gallipoli. You can find australias biggest dickhead, and he will still bow his head in silence for the ANZACs. Thankyou Battlefield.
All of the war stories were quite touching, and very powerful, shame how it's underappreciated
Can’t help but tear up every time I hear our beautiful song Zajdi Zajdi at the end of this. I wish all of you beautiful people understood the weight of that song and how proper it is for this cutscene.
May we never again live in ugly times like those of the world wars.
Macedonian: our country made this song
Bulgarians: REEEEEEEE
Bulgarian: our country made this song
Macedonian: REEEEEEE
Even the words are on Macedonia language so there is no way this song to be Bulgarian.
Nonsense, macedonia as province of Bulgaria have dialect of Bulgarian language therefore the song is Bulgarian!
the song is sang in macedonian, in the game that is.. so therefore it's Macedonian.
When he first see the kid he hates him. But after he sacrificed for the kid he feel's like a father 😭😭
WWI is the most important event in history to me. I love video games and something that is historically accurate and this amazing is one of the best things I have ever played.
I don't know why, but this ending out of all really got me. His death was just, so sad. It really hits you, and makes you think about all those who gave their lives in this war. If you are the descendant of a veteran who fought in either of the World Wars, simple things like this can break you down.
Best cutscene ever of bf franchise.. emotional and teary
Man it's so sad when the dreadnaughts start bombarding the shore and slightly going up slowely till they gonna hit bishop...
Died similar to Leonidas.
As Turkish i am proud our victory.
and as fallen heroes from avustralians and new zealadaners they became our part here.

Honored as a Macedonian to have the song in the game. When the singing starts, goosebumps start, the singer sings to the sun to go down to drown, from the afflictions that the Macedonian people had for a long period of time and couldn't endure anymore, they wanted everything to finish and the sun to never come up again...
Џонтра Волта I've just finished this story and I had to look it up on here. Now this was some great story line, but I must say that the song at the end gave me goosebumps as well! although I don't really understand the lyrics, the song itself seemed beautiful but now I see that it has quite a sad meaning. Do you know what's the name of the song? I'd love to search for it.
Battlefield I is one of the very few games that gets me teary eyed. The OST gives me chills and goosebumps every time I hear it.
Nice to hear a song from my country in battlefield 1
guys i founde name of the music but what is the name of the artist on the video?
you fucking dumbass you know nothing about history. This is a pure macedonian song made in Macedonia not bulgaria. yes macedonia was under bulgarian and serbian occupation in world war 1 but the song was made by macedonians for macedonians so go fuck yourself you dumb mongol tatar
It’s a shame that the Australians & New Zealanders lost the fight here and in real life.
But I gotta respect the fact that over a hundred thousand Ottomans gave their lives for their Homeland.
Were never gonna let kaffirs past our homeland without giving our lives. Ne mutlu türküm diyene ☝🏽🇹🇷🏴☪️
Everyone suffered greatly in this war. The Ottomans were in a very difficult situation and no one expected the Gallipoli victory. It is explained really well in this game. I wish the suffering of the Ottomans in Gallipoli was explained more. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said these words years after this war: " "No one other than the Austrians could try to take Gallipoli." and "You are side by side with the Mehmet's (our soldiers.) Mothers who send their sons to war from distant lands! Please stop your tears. Your sons are in our hearts."
Rip all heroes
right in the feels, every time. they did such a good job with these stories
2:54 brought tears to my eyes.
This was actually brilliant and heart-warming. The level of character development in this story was actually very, very well done. They managed to pack more emotion in a few 5 minute cut-scenes than most movies these days. Whoever wrote and directed this deserves a medal.
this was an amazing level, with a really sad ending.
Fredrick was a real soldier that did die unfortunately, but he died fighting for his country rest in peace fredrick bishop
Wonder what the kid Foster mightve been thinking after the bombing started. If bishop was dead before the bombing or if he atleast made it to safety
The Nacho Channel wait what if foster never fired the flare but someone else did and foster never made it out and the flare was to signal the dreadnaughts to fire
Well considering they are called "war stories" I assume there being told to you by someone, the only person who could be alive to tell it would be Foster.
Phantom Kill nah your not stupid we are all just thinking of theories and I like your one

R.I.P Frederick Bishop
It's has been a 4 years and I still watch this and cry
What got me the worst was when he said “Good kid” and I thought about the short journey they had been through together and literally cried
I love this ending, really moving, very symbolic as well. The flare is like the light in the dark the light of hope, showing the light of the future as Bishop saved these young kids and sees a bright future in the distance for the younger generation that HE saved. The ending can be depicted in many ways It is beautiful ending.
The song is a Macedonian folk song and was sung by Turkish singer Aliye Mutlu in the Battlefield 1 game.
The singer's ancestors date back to the Ottoman Empire. What a meaningful production. THANK YOU EA GAMES...
I don't know what made me cry more: Fredrick dying or the kid making it to the ship.
Can we all appreciate how beautiful this game is

I can't play this mission without shedding a few tears now. The emotions they captured with the individual characters just takes my breath away.

I wish they didn't end in that scene, so many questions that need answering.
@@heroicsplendid and, tbh, every war story have that questions. Only nothing is written have good ending. Its also the worst war story, isn't it?
Easily one of the best video games of all time, in my opinion. Seeing them take world war 1 and present it to us like this was truly amazing. I know certain historical aspects might be considered a tiny bit unrealistic, but overall, 11/10 game. The music hits you in all the right places, makes you feel immersed in the war. Super pissed that they didn’t make the war stories campaigns longer. This mission was one of the best, next to the friends in high places mission
year 2020: this scene together with the flight of the pigeon still makes me cry :(
Chills
Not going to lie when I played the end I teared up a little
when I first played this I had never been more proud. it felt like I was fighting a long side my New Zealand and Australian core brothers. and I couldn't hold in the tears when the song at the end started playing. they will forever be Anzac brothers.

Other than the first (second technically) war story with the tank this was my favorite. I just wish they would have put a bit more into the plot development of these.

I wish they made a continue of this and the bishop didnt die and is on the iland and makes it back so i wont be as sad xd
MGZzD MaTT GaMeZz DAilY Yes, it wouldn't be as sad, but it wouldn't be as good either, and very unrealistic, if he was able to survive.
I agree it would be less sad. However it wouldn't be a good story. I think that it'd be nice to see the boy go on to idolize Bishop, and live up to be like him in another game. A game just about him. A game where he must overcome all odds and survive the rest of the terrible war. A game where he must inspire others as Bishop did him. A story that embodies hardship and the terrible cost of war.
The game that was supposed to make me feel like a badass soldier made me cry like a bitch
