SPOILER WARNING!!! I am watching all Star Wars in Chronological order; I have seen the Original Trilogy but nothing else beyond the Kenobi so please be careful of spoilers in the comments.
4, 5, 6, - 1, 2, 3, Bad Batch, Solo aSWs, SW Kenobi, Rebels, Andor, Rogue One aSWs.... Hi Ben, have you watched Andor yet or will it follow on after you complete Rebels?
Ah, finally some more Lore from the novels. Ryder Azadi was the former governor of Lothal, he was a Moff, actually. He was instructed to find the culprits of anti-Imperial Propaganda on Lothal (Ezra's parents); but re was actually complicit in helping them and was a sort of family friend to them, even knowing Ezra as a toddler. He antagonized the current Governor of Lothal (you'll meet them soon enough) by attempting to purchase a mine that belong to their family to keep it from falling to Imperial Hands, and he even went as far as accusing the Pryce family of embezzlement to keep the Doonium Mine (Doonium is a key, and very rare, component of starship hulls) from the Empire, ruining their reputation as a whole. As such, Governor Pryce has an undying HATE towards Azadi. So, when they meet face to face, you'll see a bit more depth to their interactions. Eventually Pryce managed to outmanoeuvre Azadi politically and had him not only demoted dishonourably, but also usurped his office, Pryce is a BRILLIANT political player [most of this story is covered on a novel which I won't name until you get to S3 XD]. Edit 1: Kanan, and to a degree their adventures themselves, taught Ezra how to deal with attachment and loss in a very mature and humane way; something Obi failed to teach Anakin, as well as most Jedi. The way to deal with unhealthy attachment is not cutting yourself off from tre world, but learning how to let go... and that's a lesson no Jedi or Sith ever truly learned. Also, escaping death cannot be achieved by Sith (or Jedi, for that matter) because it requires a complete surrender of the self, which a Sith could never do ag all; and beyond mere altruism (which Jedi thrive on) it is completely opposite to either philosophy and that is why so few can ever come close to achieving immortality. Edit 2: the cruisers Leia "lost", are Sphyrna-class Hammerhead Corvettes, they first made their appearance in SW as a whole in the Knights of the Old Republic game from Legends. This was the first instance (I think) of something as big and recognisable as an entire ship being brought back from Legends and into Canon proper. One of these ships will actually make a very heroic reappearance on Rogue One and I can't wait for you to notice it ♥️. Final Edit: before Leia started her, say, internship as a senate liaison, Mon Mothma was the youngest ever person to be a part of the then Republic Senate; but that honor now befalls Leia herself, that's why she could threaten Lieutenant Lyste (who will appear again later) with telling on his incompetence to the Imperial Senate, even while still being a teenager, and still be taken seriously.
Hi Ben! Hope all is well with you. 3:35 - They are called "Loth Cats". Ezra has a special connection with them (as you've seen previously) through The Force. They can also be vicious little bastards, too. 9:25 - Remember, it IS possible to tap into the Dark Side, without succumbing to it like Anakin did. Mace Windu was a perfect example of that. So, the big question is... can Ezra resist turning. 17:20 - Ben, this episode hits me kinda hard. I'll give you a little backstory as to why: I never knew my parents. I was still a baby when my father died from an overdose of heroin. My mother gave up custody of me to his mother, who chose to raise me. My mother left town soon after. The only time I saw her, I was 4 years old and had no clue who she was. Needless to say, I do not remember that interaction. I would later learn that I had a brother on my father's side, and a brother and sister on my mother's side. I have grown close to all of them over the years. I did contact my mother one time when I was 24, and I recorded the phone conversation. It's the only time I ever spoke to her as an adult. I still have that tape, but it's degraded a bit, so it's near impossible to hear on a cassette deck. She died at 49 back in 1994. She had lived a very hard life. In some ways, I take after her in that regard, except that I do not use hard drugs. My grandmother, the one who raised me, died in 2014, but she was always there for me, and I was always there for her. Hell, when I was widowed in 2006 (my first wife died from cancer), she helped keep me sane. My life has been one tragedy after another, but I've only ever tapped into my darkness when I had to. Like Ezra has, so far. With me, my moral compass has never been broken. With Ezra, I won't spoil how this goes. Just remember, if Anakin could be manipulated into turning to the Dark Side.... pretty much anyone can. 20:40 - The voice actor for Ryder Azadi first came on my radar in a 1983 movie called "Bad Boys", which also starred Sean Penn, Reni Santini, and Ally Sheedy. I highly recommend that movie, too. Especially if you ever expand to doing movies. 22:00 - No. The Force connected Ezra with his parents upon their deaths, so that he could let go of that attachment. Remember, Kanan never finished his Jedi training due to Order 66. He's been going it alone ever since (about 15 years). He's doing his best to teach Ezra, but there ARE gaps in his training. If you remember, Kanan was very hesitant to take Ezra on as a Padawan. That was made very clear in the first few episodes of season 1. 22:40 - As you've noted, The Force works in mysterious ways. People who have "just passed" can still connect with a loved one for a very short period of time (going by this entry into the lore). Jedi, on the other hand, have the ability to retain their individuality beyond that point (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin). But that requires training. 25:15 - Those are called "Hammerhead Corvettes". They are VERY tough ships. 25:55 - I think I commented that before, but yes.... Luke and Leia are the same age as Ezra. So, she's about 16 here. 32:10 - Don't forget, Ezra has lived on the streets of Lothal for a long time, and likely didn't have the same kind of nutrition that Leia had as she grew. That may well have affected his physical growth. Leia grew up as a member of a royal family on Alderaan.... so she was never lacking food/nutrition. 35:25 - Fun fact: In one of the original Ralph McQuary paintings for the original Star Wars movie, Stormtroopers DID carry lightsabers. That's true, feel free to look it up.
I’m so sorry you had to go through all this, and I can totally see how this episode would hit close to home, glad that it sounds like things are better now. I can only imagine what Ezra would be going through and how this would test him when facing the Darkness, so I’ll have to wait and see how this affects him. It’s quite nice that upon the Parent’s death, the Force connected them with Ezra so he could let go and get closure, it’s easy to forget that the Force has a Will and is an active character but stuff like this is a great reminder. I love how this demonstrated life after death through the Force, Force sensitives can connect with the presence of their loved ones since they are still there but only Jedi can fully keep their sense of self. Loved seeing Leia again and it’s just a great contrast between the two in maturity, Leia would have been benefiting from being a princess and would have gotten everything she needed while Ezra would have struggled to survive. That sounds so awesome! 😂 Would have loved to see Storm Trooper wielding lightsabers in the Original Trilogy!
I thought it was the same day -- the day Palpatine declared himself Emperor (Empire Day). Wasn't that the same day as Obi-Wan battled Vader on Mustafar?
Ahh so Ezra is actually older than Leia yet still so much more immature 😂 Thought Azadi was the former Governer so that means I'm still yet to meet the one that keeps getting mentioned.
It's funny to think that while Leia was already doing dangerous stuff like this for the rebel cause at age 15, Luke was out there playing with toys and picking his nose while farming back in Tatooine. She's so awesome and scarily competent.
The Empire is suspicious of Leia by the time of Episode IV, but Vader seeing her ship being involved and her playing dumb is what sealed it. "You weren't on any mercy mission this time."
The way your eyes lit up seeing Leia again made my night! You know I'm a huge Leia stan and I was overjoyed to see our Princess in the show. The animators captured Carrie Fisher's likeness beautifully and her characterization is spot on. Useless trivia: Leia's outfit here originated from Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for the original Star Wars movie. The idea of Leia changing her clothing at the rebel base on Yavin after the Death Star escape was dropped. So, it's cool she finally got to wear this outfit here.
I was so happy to see Leia again!! 😁😁😁 Could not agree more! The animators did such a terrific job with her design and it really does just feel like I'm watching the same Leia from the OT. Yet another great use of old concept art! Love how much they do this as it just allows for so many unused ideas to make their way onto the screen.
RIP Ephraim and Mira Bridger. It's sad that we never got to see them. Obviously Ezra would be emotional about his parents, he lost them as a 7 year old, and now from his POV he might get some news regarding them. His actions don't make him foolish at all though. Anyone would be acting up in his position. Again, Leia is way more mature, but theres reasons for that. She's a princess, a politician, and she's had loving adoptive parents her whole life. Ezra was a homeless orphan for half his life. Awesome to see her though 😊.
Such a shame that they’re actually gone, at least Ezra finally got answers though. In retrospect, I love so much how he acts, he is a child, and this was basically like losing them all over again and then with the Jedi aspect on top of everything, it’s just amazing how Kanan lets him do all this and is just supportive for him instead of telling him not to feel it. Loved seeing Leia!! It’s so cool that she’s back and the maturity makes so much sense, it’s just fun seeing the contrast between Leia and Ezra considering their age and it makes Leia seem so powerful that she has this position and is able to control this stuff so effortlessly.
31:56 This is something I will always defend this show for. Some people say this show brings in old characters for the sake of cameos, but I fundamentally disagree. Most if not all the old characters they bring into this show has a purpose. - Ahsoka has her dynamic with the Inquisitors and the mystery around Vader. - Rex is a useful asset to the rebellion and teaches Ezra about being a soldier. - Leia not only helps remind us of where we are chronologically in the timeline, and she has this cool interaction with Ezra about taking on responsivity at such a young age. - Vader shows us how outmatched Era and Kanan are when faced against the true power of the Dark Side. Like, these inquisitors are one thing but now you face a true Sith! - Hondo shows us a bit of what Ezra could have become if he stayed on his own. He said himself, if he hadn't found the Ghost crew, maybe he would have been on Hondo's crew. - Tarkin gives us an imperial who is a bit more competent compared to some of the early villains and shows another connection to the Clone Wars era. - Lando's the only one I feel could have been a totally new character and not much would change but even still. So yeah, I know some people complain about older characters from separate shows appearing here for certain reasons but personally I love it!
Completely agree! Something I’ve been loving is that with everyone they’ve brought back they either have something very crucial to do with wider Star Wars like Organa or they’ll structure the entire story of the episode around them like with Leia. It’s the best way to bring these characters back instead of doing some quick appearance just for nostalgia bait.
The planet Garel is in the same star system as Lothal. They were literally hiding under the Empire’s nose the entire time. You’ve seen this planet a couple of times in season one. Way back when the crew intercepted a shipment of disruptors. Fun fact about that episode, Paul Reubens Pee-wee Herman played the voice of captain Rex the mechanical pilot from the Disney star tours ride. The designs for Rex and the shuttle are directly from that theme park ride ILM designed it nearly 3 decades before Disney bought the franchise. And if go there now, captain Rex has been replaced by R2 D2 and you can still see his dismantled chassis in the rides entrance.
Love that they chose to hide like this, it’s so smart to hide in these kinds of places as the Empire would never think to look there. So cool that the designs came from here and got reused, something I’m loving about this show is how much they’ve reused from old concepts and stuff like this!
Okay here's a very important thesis of this show, the force is everywhere and in everything. Doesn't matter if you are a Jedi, sith, smuggler, cat or planet. It's what binds the galaxy together. It is experienced in a myriad of ways and used by many cultures differently in seemingly contradictory ways, none of which are per say wrong. Ezra's parents like all living things became part of the force. The force isn't a thing that only effects the special people, it's everyone. Just like how the rebellion isn't made up of unique special people, but many many normal people coming together to build a better future. One thing that becomes clear as the show goes on, the ghost crew aren't special or chosen by the force, they are people who give their all and use what they are given to improve the galaxy.
Honestly love this, no one's special or chosen yet all of them give their all to fight the Empire that’s affected everyone across the Galaxy, makes it feel more grounded and impact knowing the people we’re following are far more similar to us than Anakin who had a predetermined destiny.
Great reactions! First episode is pretty sad but also beautiful, the way Kanan consoled Ezra, and the music that goes with Ezra's final vision, such a poignant lament..
That episode was just amazing, especially love how they deal with loss and being a Jedi in this new perspective, Kanan didn’t try to make him not feel it but was actually supportive throughout the whole thing, the exact thing Anakin never got.
In the first episode, Ezra finally reveals the core issue at play. Jumping yolo into a fight with two Inquisitors seems like a "reckless" choice. This scene develops both Ezra's philosophy on fear and his character. Let's start with his general progression: In the first season, Ezra could be summed up with one word: "Want". He wanted to join the Ghost crew. He wanted to steal fruit. He wanted Sabine. (I want this for myself) Others’ opinions didn’t concern him; his focus, shaped by his experiences, was centered solely on himself. Here, we see this same problem arise again: I want my family back. (I want them for myself) This is Ezra's dark side. By definition, whenever a character’s goals are self-centered, it reflects a hint of the dark side. To strengthen this argument, consider Anakin, who also follows this logic: after Windu’s death, he says, "I can't live without her." (I want to save Padme-I want her for myself-I’m afraid of losing something that's mine.) Anakin thought about Padme in terms of his own feelings and attachment, not in terms of her life being at risk. If he saw it otherwise, he would have confided more in Yoda about what he feared. However, I wouldn’t completely compare Ezra to Anakin. Anakin sought power because he feared loss/failure, while Ezra’s victory was costly-his parents were killed. His victory is also a loss/failure. Now, for the philosophy and understanding of fear. I mentioned that defeating the Grand Inquisitor symbolizes overcoming fear. Ezra believes he can defeat anyone, remaining blissfully unaware of the consequences. This isn’t courage; it’s a dangerous form of ignorance or, simply put, recklessness. Ezra thinks he’s conquered his fear but is sorely mistaken. I recall a UA-cam channel that had insight from the writers mentioning that if Vader had killed Kanan instead of toying with him, Ezra’s fate would have been sealed at that point. Ahsoka or any of the Ghost crew would be unable to help him, as his belief in overcoming his fear was a lie. Now, let’s bring first words of the Sith Code: “Peace is a lie; there is only passion.” This would have been Ezra’s new path: If I can't conquer my fear, I’ll use it for My own purposes. (And every failure or loss would be a severe blow, pushing him further toward darkness.) As for Leia, I wouldn’t describe her as a literal “right hand” figure, since the Rebellion is highly decentralized, with each leader holding different autonomous functions. Leia, with her access to various channels due to her Senate ties, handles missions like those we see in the episode. I’m unsure if it’s confirmed, but I believe the initial suspicions of traitors in the Senate might partially stem from Leia and a few missions where she could have raised suspicion. This episode illustrates how not everything goes perfectly, and her plan could have gone wrong. Another mission could easily see an Imperial officer asking more questions. (As for why Vader in New Hope knew Leia was part of the Rebellion, it was because Leia was had the Death Star plans. That was the final proof and Vader didn't care about anything else.)
So this sort of means that Ezra has been on the path of the Dark side for some time, most of the big decisions he’s made come from his wants and they only seem to be growing, we’re yet to see some big things from him where he does stuff outside of just doing it for himself. Honestly love how his victory over the Grand Inquisitor is proving to be a bad thing down the line, he’s become so overconfident that he feels untouchable, the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister are weaker than the Grand Inquisitor so they’d be no trouble, so he rushes in with this mindset and only Kanan stops him, there’s been no hint to this problem being solved yet so with every victory he gets it will only get worse. I mainly only think of her as a number too since she’s the daughter of the man who put it together, like if she was to order someone in the Rebellion to do something I assume they’d listen to her. I can already see how suspicions of her may arise, she’s incredibly capable and mature for her age but I still think her lack of experience might get the better of her, she’s already said she’s ‘lost’ plenty of ships to the rebellion so if that keeps up the Empire would definitely come after her so unless she realises that she needs to change how she does things, I can see that as being her biggest giveaway.
Once again you are overthinking it. Darth Vader knew she was a rebel spy because she was literally caught in the act.Vader is not dumb. He is more than capable of figuring out 2+2. PL-"Darth Vader. Only you could be so bold. The Imperial Senate will not sit still for this. When they hear you attacked a diplom-" DV-"Don't act so surprised your highness. You were not on any mercy mission this time. Several transmissions were beamed to this ship by rebel spies. I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you." PL-"I don't know what your talking about, I'm a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan." DV-"You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take her away!"
I think there has to be a difference between merely existing in the force after death (which the Jedi teach everyone does in one way or another) and becoming a force ghost, which I interpret as keeping your spirit intact even as it becomes one with the force.
Absolutely! From this I'm guessing that Ezra might be able to pull his parents together in the Force without them being Force Ghosts, they exist there like everyone else but just without consciousness, so Ezra could be able to focus on their presence within it.
Trust me when i say Rebels only gets better and better the further u watch it (from season 1 to 4) I wont spoil anything but its one of my favourite shows along with Clone wars, i watched it 7 years ago and rewatched it a few weeks ago. Its so great.
Enter Ryder Azadi, former Governor of Lothal, played by familiar actor Clancy Brown who voiced Savage Opress from The Clone Wars These 2 episodes have always been quite fun to me. Always good seeing Leia being an intelligent, charismatic rebel who I believe is about 15 years old at this point (this episode is 4 years before A New Hope which is 19 years after her Birth in Revenge of the Sith). Technically, Ezra is slightly older as he was born on Empire day itself whilst Leia was born a little later after the duel on Mustafar.
I knew I recognized that voice!! Cool that they brought him back and got to do more after Savage. Loved these episodes so much with how they treat Ezra's attachments while being a Jedi in such a healthy way compared to how the old Order did it, and Leia is just amazing as always, it was so fun to see her hold so much power now at such a young age!
In A new Hope, the Empire is highly suspicious of the role of Alderaan in the Rebellion, but they don't know for certain and Organa is still a respected senator, which is why the empire hasn't taken over controll of the Alderaanian Government. The reason for why the empire attacks her ship is because they suspect that she is in posession of the death star plans, which is such crucial information that it would justify boarding a Senator's ship. How the empire knew this and how she got the plans is something that isn't mentioned in the movie, but you are going to find out some day...
It’s honestly incredible how long she’s able to stay behind enemy lines while operating against them, wish we got to see more of this in the Original trilogy as this is the first time we get to see her be ‘with’ the Empire and just how well she’s able to cover up what she’s actually doing.
She was so good!! Loved that we got to see her in this setting as it just makes her seem even more incredible with how she conducts herself behind enemy lines!
Governor Azadi: There is more information about him and his past with Price as a governor in the first canon thrawn trilogy which I strongly recommend for you to read, but only after Rebels season 3.
Oohh okay, really looking forward to meeting this Governor Price now as it already feels like their having as big impact on what’s happening without actually showing up.
Ezra tapping into dark side powers...😬 "Well...hello there" Inquisitor trying to impersonate Obi-Wan. 😂 That what I'm assuming was a confirmation of Ezra's parents dying was sad. I thought they died a while ago. So they heard his message and died getting everyone out in the prison escape. May be wishful thinking but I hope they're still alive. 🥲 OG starting-a-fight music, and Leia's theme. 🥲 34:33 sounded just like the music just before Luke fired the proton torpedoes into the reactor exhaust pipe in ANH.
This episode was so sad and it really isn't great that Ezra's getting more stuff to do with the Dark Side 😬 Thought that too with the Inquisitor 😂 Kenobi's line is just too iconic! I want to hope that they're alive but this felt very definite, so sad to think that Ezra's message kind of got them killed but at least they went out helping people. The music was so good in this episode, it just feels more emphasised and closer to the OT whenever someone from there shows up like Lando.
I really like the voice actress playing Leia here. She really sounds like 19-year-old Carrie Fisher to me. I would LOVE for Filoni to do an animated series with Leia, Luke, Han, and company and their adventures between Episodes IV-VI, and maybe even afterwards and the early days of the New Republic.
Completely agree! The VA did an amazing job and sounds so much like Carrie Fisher! That sounds absolutely amazing, would love a show about these three animated to expand on their story and honestly surprised that hasn’t been done already.
Thank you for your analysis Ben, it is always nice to hear what you understand from the series what you expect from it. The appearance of Leia is a great surprise and I think they really nailed the way she would act as an ambassador and around the Imperials
Glad you enjoyed it 😁 Seeing Leia again was so awesome and it’s just great to see her in this setting to show off that she’s not only incredible in the Rebellion but also when behind enemy lines.
17:21 dude you are way overthinking it. Kanan is paraphrasing both eastern and to some extent christian philosophy with a jedi spin. You ever lost anyone and were told they aren't really gone as long as you remember them? Well through the force, it much the same but at a deeper meaning. They are not Jedi spirits but rather the Force taking form, and its not confusing at all. Master Yoda put it best: "Through the Force things you will see, other places, the future, the past, old friends long gone." Ezra communing with the Force is a manifestation of those words.
I'm always so pissed that people don't realize that Star Wars is a Nepotic universe. Which means at least one of the Bridger parents has/had the force... Not that it matters yet in a spoilery way.
The Force exists within all living things, so everyone has it. But not everyone can sense it. However, everyone can learn to use it, even people who aren't naturally attuned to the Force. You don't have to have a Force sensitive parent to get a Force sensitive child.
force ghost Parents: Ezra's Parents are not meant to be force ghosts here. The scentient seeming part is created dy the force thruogh Ezras memories. Kanans Comment on living on after death could be interpreted in tow parts: 1. The non force part of their Characters living on through Ezras Memories 2. The Force part: The living force is not vanished but got turned into the cosmic force. Of course this means that in the force, there is nothing left of Ezra's parents identity, but it is more a way of the Jedi to look at death in a balanced way: There is no reason to be sad, because the force energ that seems lost isn't actually lost, because it has gone into the cosmic force and will turn into the living force again, once a new person is born...
I love that Ezra got to do this and what I’m understanding is that maybe Ezra was just able to sense his parent’s presence and them being a part of the cosmic Force without them actually being Force Ghosts.
(None spoiler because is just comic material) I wanted to say that in the other video but in a canon comic Vader actually used sith magic to put the grand inquisitor burning soul in a Jedi temple as a trap and Luke put him to rest in peace
Ahh so the Grand Inquisitor did get released from that, quite nice on Luke's part and now I'm wondering if we'll ever get to see Vader use this Sith magic.
ah yes Mr.krabs's VA is ryder. so you know from cheap crab to rebel sympathizer and traitor hell of a resumé. ezra's parents are confirmed dead now i believe there was art work of them supposedly getting shot during their escape but that was cut out for the fact that rebels aired on a Disney channel. pretty much ezra did end up getting his parents killed via inspiring them to do that break out. ezra seeing them and them telling him to be strong was definitely by the force. on the loth cats we see them in different colors but only white loth cats are seen mostly when the force is involved. white loth cats are actually rare by this time as we don't see many. its not locked to force sensitives but as of now they often revel themselves to force sensitives as the average citizen hasn't seen one it about 100 years at least that are confirmed. its possible they did see them but by the time others would arrive to confirm it they would disappear so for the most part it was never a proper confirmation that they are still around. white loth cats specifically have mostly become legend or rumors for the average citizen. ah yes probably at the time of release the Ep this bigets cameo of the wider galaxy since the clones and Ashoka/vader. Leia is only 2 days older then ezra as is Luke. they are all 15 at this point in the timeline. Leia has actually been a part of the impearl senate for a couple years about 2-3 years roughly, under her father to learn how to talk politics before actually taking his place as senator for alderan. so she has already learned how to be a leader and has been helping the rebels. considering many of her ships have a tendency to be stolen many imperials probably thought of it but could never get concreate proof or be certain until ANH. episde 12 you see why the empire also ends fearing a resurgence of the jedi. ryder was hesitant and out right against getting back in the fight and then he sees kanan ignite his saber and is now actively moving to run and get teh ship off. there are probably less then a handful or so of cameos left in rebels that have ties directly to the movies specifically and only slightly more for other star wars properties that are still relevant to the timeline.
Ah new I recognized that voice 😂 It’s so sad that Ezra’s parents are dead and he kind of had a part to play in it but at least he knows now and got Rider out of all of it. Cool detail with the white Loth cats, this planet is getting weirder and weirder with why the Empire wants it, the Jedi Temple and now special, rare Loth cats that have a connection to the Force. It was so cool to see Leia again and I loved that she got to interact with Ezra!! It was amazing to see her like this and be so mature yet so young, she truly feels so powerful when working with the Empire all the while using their resources to help the Rebellion. This was so powerful too! The Empire is right to fear the rise of the Jedi since as soon as that Light saber was lit it inspires people! Guess the Empire’s hope would be to outlast the remaining generation who would remember them so if they ever did rise again no one would recognize it. Can’t wait to see whatever cameo comes next, they deal with them so well and actually write the episode around it rather than just having it as a cheap appearance.
No haven't seen it yet, glad that there'll be more info on that though as she seems so in control here that it'll be interesting to see how Vader finds out.
@@benspiller even without that movie Vader already had the evidence against Leia when he caught her trying to smuggle the death star plans to Tatooine.
15 year old boy, 15 year old girl. Usually 15 year old girl will always act older more responsible And older it's a human survival thing because. She has to teach young. Think about it. Females are able to have children at A fairly young age.. Right around thirteen maybe twelve depends when they're first period is. So yes In the real world. Girls tend to mature quite a bit faster than boys... I've raised a few
I’m afraid it’s true about what happened to his parents I’m so sorry And to be honest, I’m actually rather pleased to see an old friend her mother( Padme) would be very proud
It’s such a shame that Ezra’s parents are actually gone but at least he knows for sure now. It was so good to see Leia here!! She reminds me so much of Padme in this episode and yes she would be so proud of her daughter for everything she’s doing!!
I think Kallus is stronger than average The man could outskill zeb in his own martial art even counting in zeb species being almost as strong as Chewbacca one
When are you going to stop rambling about Ahsoka? She is only a small piece of this show. This is about the Ghost Crew. Ahsoka's involvement is fleeting at best since her position as Fulcrum puts her at the center of the network that ties to all the other cells, tribes, and fighters that will one day be the Rebel Alliance. In other words, She's too important to be the focus of this show. If you really want to know what she was up to and how her work is done, Please read the Novel Ahsoka. And it does not hurt to check out A New Dawn either since in hindsight we know it was Ahsoka that recruited Hera after the fall of Ryloth and gave her a mission to fly to Gorse. That assignment led her to meet Kanan.
16:49 Ezra was thinking of his parents , and when it cuts to reality Kanan enters the frae similarly to how Ezra's dad did.🥲
Love this! 🥲 Kanan truly his is dad now!
Ryder: "Kanan's coming, he said make it look good."
Zeb: ... :D
Loved this moment so much! 😂😂
During Ezra and Leia's talk, the soundtrack was wavering back and forth between their themes, before ending as an optimistic mix of the themes.
The detail in all this is insane, both are such powerful characters making their conversation so important, the themes display this perfectly!
@liaml Great comment in general, but Edit1 was superb, awesome job!
@msoundg Thank you!, I love doing this "tiny" lore dumps haha. I hope Ben likes them :3
You know, I figured Senator Chuchi be the youngest before Leia. Wasn't she just a few years younger than Padme at the start of the war?
@@brucechmiel7964 didn't Mon Mothma become a senator at like 16 or something? Chuchi was probably older than that
@ if she was, she sure as hell wasn’t showing it. She’s the kinda girl that doesn’t get carded, she just feats kicked out of the bar.
Leia is fifteen years old. Fun fact Leia was born two days after Ezra. The former governor of Lothal is Rider Azadi.
I thought it was the same day -- the day Palpatine declared himself Emperor (Empire Day). Wasn't that the same day as Obi-Wan battled Vader on Mustafar?
@@LeChaunce you forget hyper space travel time and it was sunset when Padme finally left the capital to go meet Anakin.
@ Fair point.
Sadly, we don't ever see Ezra's parents. They are indeed dead.
I mean, we do see them, just not alive. Only in flashbacks or illusions.
Such a shame that they’re fully gone but at least he got answers.
They died after Ezra did the speech in season one trying to escape the imperial prison right?
Ah yes Hammerhead cruisers, very dangerous.. if ykyk
They went pretty Rouge on that 1 huh
@@lumityforever I see what you did there :>
Anakin: "Impressive, most impressive!"
Leia: "That is impressive, well mostly."
Vader: "Impressive... most impressive."
😂😂
The Empire is suspicious of Leia by the time of Episode IV, but Vader seeing her ship being involved and her playing dumb is what sealed it.
"You weren't on any mercy mission this time."
Ahh so she's pretty safe at the minute until Vader catches her in that instance.
Kallus: "I'm surrounded by fools."
😂😂
THE princess warrior is the best. "Stun me, you have my permission". Rotflmmfao 😅😅😅
😂😂 Loved that so much! No fear what so ever!
@@ShayanQ I’m gonna remember this post when we get to season four. “All roads are coming together.”
Leia's outfit is based on her concept art of the original film.
Awesome!! More concept art is being reused!! 😁
Clone wars shows more than just jedi existing after death
True but it never showed if for just regular people who aren't Jedi, this seemed new.
In the first episode, Ezra finally reveals the core issue at play.
Jumping yolo into a fight with two Inquisitors seems like a "reckless" choice.
This scene develops both Ezra's philosophy on fear and his character. Let's start with his general progression:
In the first season, Ezra could be summed up with one word: "Want".
He wanted to join the Ghost crew. He wanted to steal fruit. He wanted Sabine.
(I want this for myself)
Others’ opinions didn’t concern him; his focus, shaped by his experiences, was centered solely on himself.
Here, we see this same problem arise again:
I want my family back.
(I want them for myself)
This is Ezra's dark side. By definition, whenever a character’s goals are self-centered, it reflects a hint of the dark side.
To strengthen this argument, consider Anakin, who also follows this logic: after Windu’s death, he says, "I can't live without her."
(I want to save Padme-I want her for myself-I’m afraid of losing something that's mine.)
Anakin thought about Padme in terms of his own feelings and attachment, not in terms of her life being at risk.
Now, let’s bring first words of the Sith Code: “Peace is a lie; there is only passion.”
This would have been Ezra’s new path: If I can't conquer my fear, I’ll use it for My own purposes.
(And every failure or loss would be a severe blow, pushing him further toward darkness.)
As for Leia, I wouldn’t describe her as a literal “right hand” figure, since the Rebellion is highly decentralized, with each leader holding different autonomous functions.
If he is not afraid, then he will die braver than most.
When they hear you attacked a diplom-"
DV-"Don't act so surprised your highness. You were not on any mercy mission this time. Several transmissions were beamed to this ship by rebel spies. I want to know what happened to the plans they sent you."
PL-"I don't know what your talking about, I'm a member of the Imperial Senate on a diplomatic mission to Alderaan."
DV-"You are part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor. Take her away!"
To parallel Luke and the Twin Suns, Ezra's theme is Twin Moons.
Ohh so Ezra could be seen as a sort of opposite or mirror to Luke then considering how close they are in age and how their themes are named.
May the force be with us.
Ezra, Leia and Luke were all born on Empire Day. They are all the same age.
Trust me when i say Rebels only gets better and better the further u watch it (from season 1 to 4) I wont spoil anything but its one of my favourite shows along with Clone wars, i watched it 7 years ago and rewatched it a few weeks ago. Its so great.
The first few minutes listening to Clancy Brown voice Ryder Azadi, I have to keep telling myself he's not playing Lex Luthor.
😂😂
Enter Ryder Azadi, former Governor of Lothal, played by familiar actor Clancy Brown who voiced Savage Opress from The Clone Wars
These 2 episodes have always been quite fun to me.
Clancy Brown also played Long Feng from ATLA
I knew I recognized that voice!! Cool that they brought him back and got to do more after Savage.
Loved these episodes so much with how they treat Ezra's attachments while being a Jedi in such a healthy way compared to how the old Order did it, and Leia is just amazing as always, it was so fun to see her hold so much power now at such a young age!
Ryder was the former Governor of Lothal before being forcibly replaced by Pryce.
Thought this, very looking forward to meeting this Pryce now considering how much they've done without actualyl being here.
Second episode: Leia is amazing, such a commanding presence one wouldn't think of disobeying her, lol
Ezra tapping into dark side powers...😬
"Well...hello there"
Inquisitor trying to impersonate Obi-Wan. 😂
That what I'm assuming was a confirmation of Ezra's parents dying was sad. I thought they died a while ago. So they heard his message and died getting everyone out in the prison escape. May be wishful thinking but I hope they're still alive. 🥲
OG starting-a-fight music, and Leia's theme. 🥲
34:33 sounded just like the music just before Luke fired the proton torpedoes into the reactor exhaust pipe in ANH.
This episode was so sad and it really isn't great that Ezra's getting more stuff to do with the Dark Side 😬
Thought that too with the Inquisitor 😂 Kenobi's line is just too iconic!
In my opinion, a show like that should be done in the style of a classic 80's cartoon.
The Cruisers are loosely based on ships used by the Old Republic a couple thousand years earlier.
Love this, another example of basing designs on older stuff within the franchise!
As usual, enjoyed your reactions.
@@benspiller A Leia miniseries would be so much fun to watch.
Kanans Comment on living on after death could be interpreted in tow parts:
1. The non force part of their Characters living on through Ezras Memories
(None spoiler because is just comic material)
I wanted to say that in the other video but in a canon comic Vader actually used sith magic to put the grand inquisitor burning soul in a Jedi temple as a trap and Luke put him to rest in peace
Ahh so the Grand Inquisitor did get released from that, quite nice on Luke's part and now I'm wondering if we'll ever get to see Vader use this Sith magic.
@@benspillerprobably not because in my knowledge is never stated of how the sith magic works but still would be cool
ah yes Mr.krabs's VA is ryder. so you know from cheap crab to rebel sympathizer and traitor hell of a resumé. ezra's parents are confirmed dead now i believe there was art work of them supposedly getting shot during their escape but that was cut out for the fact that rebels aired on a Disney channel. pretty much ezra did end up getting his parents killed via inspiring them to do that break out. ezra seeing them and them telling him to be strong was definitely by the force.
on the loth cats we see them in different colors but only white loth cats are seen mostly when the force is involved. white loth cats are actually rare by this time as we don't see many. its not locked to force sensitives but as of now they often revel themselves to force sensitives as the average citizen hasn't seen one it about 100 years at least that are confirmed. its possible they did see them but by the time others would arrive to confirm it they would disappear so for the most part it was never a proper confirmation that they are still around. white loth cats specifically have mostly become legend or rumors for the average citizen.
ah yes probably at the time of release the Ep this bigets cameo of the wider galaxy since the clones and Ashoka/vader.
I guess you have not seen Rogue One yet? That will explain how Vader knew Leia was a traitor.
I’m afraid it’s true about what happened to his parents I’m so sorry
And to be honest, I’m actually rather pleased to see an old friend her mother( Padme) would be very proud
It’s such a shame that Ezra’s parents are actually gone but at least he knows for sure now.
It was so good to see Leia here!! She reminds me so much of Padme in this episode and yes she would be so proud of her daughter for everything she’s doing!!

I think Kallus is stronger than average
The man could outskill zeb in his own martial art even counting in zeb species being almost as strong as Chewbacca one
Maybe even more jarring about seeing Leia in animated form, after how long you saw Anakin and Padme in animated form.
Absolutely 😂😂 Now just need to see Luke animated to make the family complete!
