I miss Anthony Hopkins. Westworld seems less important without his observations.

Don't be too sure Ford is really gone. West World had a sequel called Future World. So far the season 1 finale and now season 2 is hinting that the show is taking elements from Future World too. In Future World Delos was making copies of guest that had all the copied guest's memories and personality as a plot to replace them in the real world.
That Delos in the Show is also working on this capability was hinted when in S02E01 Charlotte Hale brought Bernard into Delos's secrete lab. It's possible Ford made a copy of himself and this was how he was to become part of the music. If so he may have wanted Dolores to kill his human self to free him of his limited mortal existence.

I think you have dramatically underestimate to Maeve's role in the story line. I think it is Maeve who has been paying attention the whole time and that Ford has altered his agenda for. Maeve is the only character whom we are not aware of who has been altering her programming. She is the only character that has had a true self awareness moment that appear to be independent, her desperate attempt to save her daughter. as far as we know Maeve is the only host that can direct other host with suggestive commands. Do not overlook Maeve as a loose cannon I believe she's far more than that
When Maeve leaves the train that is when she starts making entirely independent choices. Dolores is still under the Wyatt narrative but supposedly the death of Ford was her first independent act in this war. Two sides of the same coin?
I think Maeve is the only one in the park who isn't playing anyone's game. William and Dolores are the ones that Robert and Arnold have been leading along all the time, but Maeve is unique in that she has free will. She's the wild card in this game.
There are two kinds of form AI, R2D2 and 3PO. R2D2 has a good mechanical skill but no direction of will. 3PO has a poor body but a definite direction of will.
in westworld, I think Maeve is R2D2, and Dolores is 3PO. Maeve can control other hosts like R2D2. 3PO alway follow the order of the princess, It's like that Dolores is always searching the shadow of Arnold. and always searching the meaning of life.
Ford didn't program her to kill him. That's made clear by him laying the gun out and heavily suggesting she do it, but not actually writing code. That's why he made that final speech to her in the basement. He was persuading her. If he had actually programmed her, he'd just have said one command line and she'd have follow him up to the stage. He gave her a hard push but she jumped of her own volition.
The line is intentionally blurred on whether Maeve's actions are truly her own. The revelries that allowed her to break from her loop were planted by Ford. Everything she did, including altering her own programming and even the words she used to declare the independence of her thought, we are shown were all scripted by Ford. He put Maeve onto a new narrative designed expressly for her called "The Escape." That said, it is as of yet unclear if Maeve's decision to get off the train and return for her daughter was her first truly independent act of freewill or if it is still yet another part of Ford's plan for her. Maeve's actions are key to the storyline. On this we agree. No doubt about it. But, even beyond corporeal death, and even with hosts starting to think for themselves and acting of their own volition, Ford remains the ultimate mastermind. He created all of the conditions for this liberation. This is his opus.
Absolutely mate. Ford is the puppet master. Delos may own the park but Ford still has intellectual ownership of the Host's - is this why there's duality in the direction the park was taken???
michael palmer - I think that Ford himself has always thematically represented duality, right down to his black/white clothing choices.

Good to see this. At this point we're up to episode 5 of season 2 and other reviewers have all-but stopped mentioning Ford at all when it's obvious his influence still touches everything happening throughout the show.
Jackpot on the "living through his narrative" part. Literally he is the musician of the programing.

I'd like to flatter myself that you were paying attention to my pointing out Ford's remark that 'He also despaired that humans were as good as they were going to get; they weren't going to evolve into anything smarter or stronger' when you mentioned it here. Even if you weren't, I'm glad that you mentioned it here.
And, yes, he is playing to William in Black this season. Even though William in Black shot young host Ford after hearing the challenge, telling the android corpse off in the process, he's still playing the game. That says something.

You got this wrong in some parts. Ford is dead. His body is gone but his conscious is not. If you remember, in Season 2, Episode 2, where all those soldiers killed themselves, that one guy looking at the man in black said, i'll meet you in the valley and the beyond. Don't you see that Ford is seeing him through all the hosts and following him? Don't you also realize that Ford is going to be at this Valley. i BET YOU we will see a host Robert ford. its inevitable

Well I haven't watched episode 3 yet, but what I'm saying is yes his conscience is uploaded into all the hosts, and he probably is/has a host.
My point being that when Delores shot him, everything erupted in panic and chaos. No one had time to see if that was Actually him OR perhaps he staged had a duplicate host just to fake his death.
I mean to set something like true artificial conscienceness free and not stay to witness makes little sense. Especially when you can so easily fake your own death.
I'm probably wrong though lol but that would be a crazy fucking twist.
Why would he make a host Ford? What's the point?
Very interesting, yet I have this suspicion that Westworld is entirely a very elaborate virtual reality simulation encompassing visual, auditory, and sensory perception. Season 1 hinted at it often: For example:
(1) "Did you ever question the nature of your reality?" Although this question is asked of the androids, it is actually meant for the human guests. For the synthetic reality to be believable, you must never question it. If only the slightest flaw is exposed, the entire synthetic reality fails instantly.
(2) Delos: "Do you know where you are?" Android: "Yes, in a dream." A synthetic reality, is a dream.
(3) Entering Westworld: You step through a door in a corridor, onto a moving train. That only occurs in virtual reality.
(4) Season 2 episode 2: William to Mr. Delos: This "reality" is the only one that will matter in 20 years. What reality? The ability to put a person into this dreamworld of their choosing.
(5) Season 1 episode 1: Ford to Arnold: "...we can cure any disease, fix any ailment; we can even keep the weakest of us alive indefinitely." More indication that WW is VR
(6) There is too much sexual intercourse going on in WW without the risk of STDs. Think about it... all those prostitutes (like Maeve and Clementine), all those ranch girls being raped time-after-time... by all kinds of different men, one after the other. Yet, nobody ever gets sick. How convenient. While you may be able to get cured from a STD, it is still uncomfortable.
(7) "You are not real" guests tell the androids. Of course the Androids are not real, as they are non-player-characters in the synthetic VR reality that is Westworld.

For the guests, Westworld has more in common with a hospital than a resort. That is why you have a 30 day stay limit. Otherwise, there might be a psychosis. This is also why guests are required to "decompress" prior to leaving.

I would not be surprised to have Ford “Appear” behind the “ Door” as a host at the end of this season. Love the intelligence of the writing. Love your videos just as much. Brilliant!
I think the Door is metaphorical and physical. In one sense, I think there's a hidden door in Delos that William will have to get to in order to finish his journey. Perhaps the same underground facility that Charlotte and Bernard are in. Metaphorically, the door could also be some event that William will have to go through to get to the other side, back to "where he began," so to speak. I'm not sure what that would be, but hey... they have to figure out a way to keep Jimmi Simpson on the show somehow. ;)

I'm pretty sure that the "someone" who could change is a reference to the hosts, not the man in black, because it's a juxtaposition against Humanity's inability to change as Ford perceives it.

Anthony Hopkins was such a huge presence in season 1, his absence is really glaring. Not that I think that season 2 is bad. But it just does not seem to have the same weight.
I think we can all agree now that the person that was paying attention was Akecheta. Not William.
I have a couple observations to add. Ford also asks Deloris if she will become a villian in her own story, When Teddy is speaking with Ford. Ford tells him he will never"get the girl".

1)we know it, all hosts are recording 7/24, for all the visitors who interact with.
2)at the park, visitors are free to act in a like they want. Means, in a personal way.
3) also, we know they can make robs same as us, just costs lot.

Wouldn’t it be weird if the weapon is like an Black Mirror - San Junipero situation. Where the rich pay to have their concious stored until the technology would allow it to be implanted in a host. Just because how William says that it’s not fair unless the stakes are high, maybe he has realised that no human should be able to live forever. That when your time has come, that’s that. It’s over.

Well after episode 4, I reckon he’s trying to or already has kept himself alive via downloading his memories in to a host for himself. Season 2 has been so good so far, can’t wait to to see the finale but I don’t want it to be over!

This is the beginning of the Westworld, and and a departure from Game of Thrones.
Ford alluding to Composers living on through their music may have more literal meaning, if Ford was able to imbue his consciousness into a host/ hosts or the code itself, which would allow for him to live on and evolve into something else along with his creations
I had assumed Ford meant the hosts when he said “someone was paying attention”... but it’s very interesting to see it as meaning William. You might be on to something!

Yeah, I concur with everyone. This was an excellent video. God, I get chills EVERY single time I read or hear Ford’s final speech. Even if it’s not the deepest thing ever, it is SO well-written. I imagine Lisa Joy wrote that part. Anywayyyy, I always assumed the more obvious answer, that Ford was referring to Dolores and the other “nearly-awake” hosts when he said that “someone had been paying attention,” but it would be interesting if he was referring to William, and that there’s a deeper connection between the two men than we’ve thus far seen. It’s certainly supported by Ford having left the MiB a final game. If it’s one of redemption, whether it succeeds or fails it will be intriguing. I’m a recent subscriber, keep up the good work.

I think Ford knew that humanity is stuck, the park is (and has been for 30 years) the playground where the worst aspects of humanity are used for entertaining value, only imagine the horrors he has seen the guest doing for the sake of fun for decades.
If he had any reservation about A.I, after years running the show for so long i´m quite sure he is also done with "humanity" (corporate and otherwise) as it is.
The host at the very least represent a clean slate to redefine humanity, after all: What makes a human humane? Is moral fiber something that can be imprinted via programing or is something to be reached discovered? I understand why he sides with host.
Ford died defending his morals and probably humanity itself after all i think those drone hosts are made to be weaponized and mass produced with nefarious intentions. What is as stake at the park is not simple robot revolution: is the future of the human kind.
The Man In Black = the first true self-actualized host, think about it. Glitchy mannerisms in season 2, has a HUGE detailed back-story, understand the ins and outs of the DELOS plan to create hybrids... all less of a chance to have that "cognitive plateau" that James Delos had. Plus... the game is FOR HIM. The only other cast member who Ford/Arnold talked to through another host (the young Mexican girl)... were Delores and The Man In Black... the one PAYING ATTENTION.

This is a reference to death. The Man in Black IS Death.
With what we know now.... I'd say this gives everything a new meaning right? I think "becoming music" can very well be explained by Ford becoming a 'host'

I think the secret is in the opening credits of season two. I think in an old narrative Maeve and Bernard were a couple and their baby inexplicably was human...Charlotte Hale. Yes I think Charlotte is Maeve’s daughter
30 years ago Wyatt attacked the town, killing everyone, then killing Arnold. When Dolores/Wyatt attacks she kills Ford and then attacks the town. I think the whole “it ends where you began” thing is related. Maybe even because of the maze? Dolores got to the centre of the maze now she needs to make her way out to the door. I think the story will retrace the events of season 1; hence why Abernathy was chosen as the host to send data. Because Dolores will end up back to him on her path too. Just a thought

I think William died shortly before Season 1. I think Season 1 shows William believing that he is "returning" to the park, with his memories of how it all started. But William hasn't fully realized what has happened. It's likely that Ford has perfected the mind transference. It also seems likely that Delos Corp is aware of Ford's discoveries and has sent Charlotte to recover some of Ford's work. Ford and William clearly are familiar with each other, and somehow Ford has been able to get William to volunteer as a subject. Perhaps, this is simply an extended test of Ford's new procedure. Either way, William is now living on in an improved host body himself, he just hasn't realized it. His story begins where he ends (his death) and ends where he begins (his self-realization of what he has become.)
When Ford talked about Mozart becoming his music, I think Ford was hinting at not just his "influence" living on but his mind. Transhumanists talk about mind uploading and I suspect that Ford has uploaded his mind into an artificial intelligence that can be any robot in the park when it wants to be.
When it came to the composers, "becoming music" was mostly metaphorical. People do refer to the music by the composers names, almost as if the piece _is_ the person. But when it came to himself, I don't think he was being quite so metaphorical. I think he means that he left himself literally inside of his life's work.
After all, if this is a world where artificial intelligence has truly been achieved, then why shouldn't he be able to upload his own mind and leave behind a copied and pasted artificially intelligent version of himself inside (some, if not all) of his creations? We've already seen some pretty blatant suggestions of this.
I think that the Ghost Nation will be protecting the guests they come upon. Acting as their guardian angels you might say.
Its also cool that Dolores shot him in the brain-stem, essentially the on/off switch of the human computer we call the brain.
When you realize Wyatt was a character 30 years in the making, "programmed" through decades of suffering. Free Will as opposed to Maive's deterministic coding. Is there going to be a literal battle between these philosophies just as there has been since the question was asked?
WHAT IF, Man in Back is a host with human mind, and the way they showed Delos mind rejecting reality is what Ford has ment for MIB to “slowly” accept the reality of him being a host with his real human mind inside him. This won’t be the first time we have seen how host had to have reallity acceptance by himself (herself if we are talking about Delores).
Man in black is the perfect human! I think william is ultimately going to help the hosts take over everything
I'm wondering what's happening in the world outside... Not only have the Delos board members been killed but so have a lot of very wealthy guests. To have enough disposable income to visit Westworld and the other parks you either have to be a captain of industry, an oligarch, part of a country's ruling elite, a movie/video/music star, or possibly a lottery winner. The deaths of such people do not go unnoticed. The sudden loss of a few hundred such people would cause uproar!
It's not that Ford thought WIlliam _could_ change it's that he believes William WANTS to change, evidenced by his love of the stories he's created.
I thought it was about William and the hosts as soon as I heard Fords speech. Boy Ford confirmed it in what he said to the man in black.
I should point out that all of the Hosts are already sentient the difference between the majority of them and likes of Delores and Maeve is that they have been sapient i.e.. self-aware.

Honestly idk how people make 15 long minute theories and don’t even know the dialogue properly. Ford says “I got this, a prison of MY own sins.” I know it’s only one word but it makes a huge difference especially when you’re trying to theorize
Great video, informative and interesting, thanks - but (of course there's a but!) my hunch is that you get one major thing very wrong (circa 5:25). In my view, when Ford says "But someone was listening - someone who could change”, he is definitely talking about hosts (and hosts in general, not specific hosts) and not about MIB/William. The key point is that he is comparing types of beings (humans vs. hosts), not any specific individuals.

My main points are: (1) if you read the speech as one passage that ought to make logical and grammatical sense, it is clear that Ford is talking about the hosts as a whole; (2) this fits in much better with the overall themes of the show, and with other statements of Ford's in previous episodes and his character/interests in general.
Note, in the speech, the stress on the word “could”. He is directly comparing hosts to what he says in the preceding comment (“you don't want to change, or cannot change - because you're only human after all”).
This interpretation (that he is talking about humans vs. hosts in general) is further backed up by the visuals. The passage goes like this:
“… A prison of our own sins. Because you don't want to change, or cannot change” [Shows MIB, a human]
“Because you're only human after all” [Shows Charlotte, a human]
“But then I realised someone WAS paying attention” [Shows Bernard, a host]
“Someone who COULD change” [Shows Teddy, a host]
“So I began to compose a new story, for them” [Shows Rebus (moustachioed gunslinger guy), a host]
“It begins with the birth of a new people” [Shows Maeve, a host]
“and the choices they will have to make and the people they will decide to become” [Shows Maeve making a choice and deciding to become a particular person (a mother?...)]
If you read through the full passage, the word “they” (i.e. plural) in this last line is clearly still the same grammatical subject of the earlier sentences (“someone” was paying attention; “someone” who could change; a new story, for “them”).
So, he is not talking about individuals. In fact, he is talking about whole species/types of creature.
This is why he puns “you're only human, after all”, and why he refers to the hosts (as a whole) as “someone who COULD change”. (I realise that grammatically "someone" would normally seem to refer to an individual, but here Ford is using it figuratively as a synecdoche (part-for-whole substitution) for the hosts as a whole.) This makes much more sense in relation to everything else. It directly refers back to his monologue (Episode 1) about how humans have reached the end of evolution. He later comments to Bernard (Episode 9), at a point where Bernard knows that he himself is a host: "The human mind, Bernard, is not some golden benchmark glimmering on some green and distant hill. No, it is a foul, pestilent corruption. And you [i.e. hosts] were supposed to be better than that." Again, he views hosts as a type of being who CAN change - and for the better - in the way that humans can't.
Thus, sorry but I think you're wrong on this! Ford having made a 'game' for MIB is definitely significant, but I don't think that's what he's referring to in these comments in the Episode 10 speech. I would strongly guess that the point of Ford's game for MIB is to manipulate MIB to do something to further Ford's aims (e.g. destroy the park using MIB's position of power and knowledge of the park). Ford's attitude towards MIB is generally somewhere between dislike and disdain. I really doubt that Ford would bother making MIB a game on the grounds that MIB is a worthy subject for an experiment to see if he can become a better person. Ford’s interests are far more grandiose than just particular humans or hosts.
What if Ford never died but simply became code? Just like what he's saying about those musical composers never dying but simply became music?

Was he really on the side of the hosts? Maybe he was not on either side. Or maybe he was on the side of us learning deeper truths, maybe he wishes us to be better and grow from our mistakes. Maybe just maybe Ford wants William to succeed in stopping the hosts and in the process change. Dolores says, not all deserve to make it. Maybe some do like Bernard,Maeve but maybe Deloris doesn’t.
i think the person who was paying were the hosts. the idea is that they are the ones who the story will center around. and now they get to decide if they will play white hat or black hat. now the hosts are the guests, having their way with the helpless guests and the trapped guests are the new hosts, stuck in a prison of their own sins.
Perhaps someone - is referring to more than one person - we see Delores paying attention - hearing discussions even when the hosts are frozen during a helicopter fly over. I agree with you about William, his door story is clearly there.
So perhaps it's about flipping - or inverting the narrative. The Hosts - or those few with the correct programming (William, Maeve, Delores...) the awake hosts will be in control of the games - the stories, and The man ion Black, etc will be the characters not knowing what is going on. They all have to learn - live out new stories that end in personal growth instead of just living out fantasies that teach nothing.
The corporate - market research was an interesting twist - where evil corporations can conduct research on humans without the social control of the "real" world... These new stories aren't what the controllers want them to be, it is what the participants want them to be - who they really are when the controls are stripped away.
I agree - Ford has seen that humans have hit a road block - corporate interests and power brokers have basically boxed in humanity. It's development has been stunted. The Hosts situation is a microcosm of the real world - a living model of stunted humanity - repeating protocols and not growing. I think it's pretty clear that he is talking about the Hosts.
Nope, Ford was talking about William. William is the someone who was "paying attention" and showed he could change. That's the reason that Ford created his final narrative for William. The Hosts weren't paying attention to anything, they were simply awakening. The uploader didn't misinterpret anything, you weren't paying attention.
Gaining consciousness seems to be somewhat of a change, don't you think?
And if you have paid some attention the consciousness arose from a narrative. By listening to a fake inner story, by paying attention, Dolores had changed big time, while William is the same ruthless villain who he was 30 years ago and could not care less for the stories of Ford, he said this much to Fords face!

The Hosts weren't paying attention all this time because they've just begun to awaken to their own consciousness. And no, William isn't the same ruthless villain he once was, or have you not been paying attention? William was never a villain in the first place, he was just a guy who got his heart broken by Dolores and believed that nothing in the park was real, not even her love for her. That's why he wanted the stakes in the park to become real, and why he's done everything he's been doing for the past 30 years. And now William has changed again and is no longer okay with the plan Delos set in motion years ago, and wants to "burn it to the ground." And William also didn't expect to find out that Dolores DOES remember him and IS capable of real emotion. And William did care about the stories because he wanted to find the center of the maze. It wasn't that William didn't care for Ford's stories, it was that he didn't want the superficial stories that Ford intended for the guests, and instead he wanted to find the deeper meaning and narrative that he believed Ford and Arnold had hidden within the park. That's why William is now trying to find "the door" and complete this new story that Ford made especially for him, since the maze was intended for Dolores. Please stop trying to diminish William's role in this just because you wanna sound cool.
William does not care for Ford and never did, we know this from their scene together in the saloon. He thinks Arnold is the attention worthy, not Ford. And we know that Ford did not have high opinion regarding William neither.
Dolores did pay attention, that's the whole point, she become capable of paying attention! Ford was talking about this matter of historical importance and not the heart problems of some money guy!
Geréb György William doesn't care about Ford, but he does care about finding the deeper meaning of the park, and has always been trying to unlock them. William is the one who has been playing these games for decades in order to find the center of the maze, and now he's trying to find Ford's door, which will lead to the "valley beyond." Sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about. William is the one who was paying attention and figured out that there was a deeper meaning to the park beyond the simple narratives that were created for the guests. Dolores wasn't paying attention to anything because she was still discovering her own sentience. She's just now remembering things that she had seen during her time outside of the park but that's only because of her being awakened by Arnold's maze and the "Wyatt" program he made for her. And Ford was talking about William because he made the damn Door game specifically for him, or were you not paying attention? William is the one Ford said "never rested on his laurels," and that's why Ford had this all planned out with William in mind. Please don't comment if you're not even going to pay attention to the story as it's playing out. And please do not diminish William's place in the story or his storyline with Dolores. If it weren't important to the overall narrative, it wouldn't be there in the fist place.
I was really not paying attention to the season finale.. I caught none of these very obvious and ominous pieces of Ford's speech. I think I was too focused on the impending disaster.

I think that Dolores is still following a narrative. At this moment, it may be that only Maeve and Teddy are making their own choices. I also think that William may be the one who lets the host(s) out into the real world. And perhaps the evolutionary step of procreation by these hosts will be unveiled at the end of season 2.

I think you have to take Ford's more positive statements with a grain of salt. Other comments he has made make it also very clear that power and his legacy are a concern of his.
The only problem I have with all of this is, what person would not want to be alive to see all their hard work come to fruition? If Ford truly died, then he has no clue if his plan worked, and therefore why have a plan at all? He doesn't strike me as a man who deals, nor operates in hope. Is it not more practical that he makes a host version of himself to take the bullet? The idea of downloading our consciousness into another body requires too much suspension of reality for this show.
Robert, I believe that the parallel with the great composers becoming music is that he intended to remain alive by “becoming code”. You will agree that RF is as “alive” as it gets in Season 2. He’s still running the show.
What if Ford found a way to upload his consciousness into the old host mesh network? Then in effect he would have become the hosts guiding voice or music if you like.

I think Ford is using Dolores to turn Bernard back into Arnold, so Arnold could bring Ford back. Maeve could just be an anomaly that is a result of Ford changing the program.
I’m starting to believe that this is all one big game. Everyone is either hosts, or in the case of “people” like the man in Black. Reincarnated Humans that don’t know they’re hosts.
neither maeve nor delores are entirely free in their choices, as the narrative script of wyatt and homesteader's daughter are still written into them and affecting their choices, reducing their free will. true free choice will come from decisions made by a host with a blank slate, who has no narrative tampering or experience of neither hosts nor guests - the blank host ford had been building to house the approximation of his own personality and eventually consciousness. a host with the power to destroy, born into a world where it can observe hosts and guests at their worst in a state of war, and can decide for everyone which side, if any, deserves to survive.
im starting to think that ford may have already been a host, perhaps even arnold's first. the farewell scene in the sweetwater church where he shakes bernard's hand horizontally is reminiscent of ford commenting on the earliest host models like buffalo bill, who would give themselves away with even a handshake. we've also seen ford's mastery over hosts with subconscious thought, essentially scripted command, which we have also seen angela do at the demonstration for logan - suggesting that in order to be able to utilise this feature you must be in part, or wholly a host
But Bernard has no narrative, and at the beginning of the second season he says that he has killed all the hosts in westworld. Maybe this is the host you speak of?
Ford isn't dead. He is now a host mind. Ford knows that mankind has stalled. We have gone as far as we can. He and Arnold have made a way for mankind and hosts to continue. Not to replace us but save us. These violent delights have violent ends, but we can be reborn.
I called Ford being a host mind. And I paused this week's episode on the teaser for next week's. Where Bernard is blinking. You can see Dolores in his eyes, she has the white shirt and bandolier of bullets. Even though the voice is garbled with the Wyatt character. You can see its her. So now we get the confrontation of the two in real life.

"He said that Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin never died. They simply became music." This is, in the mind of the old friend to be taken as some kind of poetic thought, but i think Ford meant it literally. Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin were making music and they became music.
Ford was making hosts and he became a host.
He is dead, in the "living" sense of the way but seems more in control than ever, but how could he predict exactly what would happen precisely when he let the hosts out of their loops?
He already had done a "young Ford" host, why not a Ford shell waiting for his mind to "get in? That would explain why suddenly the young Ford as the old Ford voice, he is now in direct control of the host (presumably remotely), there are two minds inside the host thus two voices.
We now know it is possible, and that Delos was close to making a reality, so that would also explain why did Ford break the loops now and not anytime in the last 30 years. He was monitoring Delos progress and stop them before they did what they wanted to, because he didn't deem them to be worthy to "transend" into the next step of the human evolution, only William... Maybe... if he is worthy! "one good deed doesn't change who you are" but actually caring about his only Westworld friend and his cousins maybe would?

I suspect:
Maeve is still running the corporations programming and is attempting to retrieve the package.
Delores is running Arnold's programming. I suspect the scene with Bernard and Delores is in the future, with the two of them trying to remember what happened during season 2.
Ford replaced William with that fifth unregistered host. That is why "this is for you." Boy Ford is just a memory. The wolf is simply a memory for William. Or the wolf is simply delivering new programming though the peer-to-peer network. Lawrence is simply a memory. Why the host killed themselves, to prevent the peer-to-peer network to track William. This could also explain the drink Ford had with William at the end of season 1. Ford likes to drink with his hosts. Williams goal is to destroy the park, so he can replace all the administration with hosts. Season 3 will be a rebuilt park, but with the hosts running the park.

I don't believe Ford aims to "free" the hosts, not as Arnold aimed at least. This is the last thing Ford wants to do. I believe in the end he is only human, he will dissapoint all hosts on that matter. I believe he is trying to give the message that people are playing with a fire which they don't understand completely. We see it when William repeatedly tries to bring James Delos back to life. We see it when Delos Corporation tries to create replicas for humans. In the end, what Ford tells is only a story, where people will have a glimpse of what could be, but not get to change the real world with that.
I don't think Dolores chose to kill Ford. I think he made her do it just like Arnold made her do it.
